    Default Question for Florida Dancers

I have a question for the ladies that dance in Florida. I've only been dancing in Florida for a year and didn't drink a good part of that time. I do know it is illegal to soliciate a drink from a customer, however I thought that meant you can not go up to a customer and say "would you buy me a drink"? When I'm sitting with a customer and I want a drink I normally order it, pull out my money (slowly) and 90% of the time the customer offers to buy it. Yesterday I was told that you cannot even insinuate that you would like a drink and that is against the law. I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this.

    Thank you

Whereas I've heard stories of girls getting busted for hinting at wanting a drink, I cant honestly say I've seen it happen. I usually wait until either the customer asks if I want something, or when the bartender/waitress/etc asks them if they want a drink, I tend to stare at them... Heh.

Weird aint it though? When I moved to Florida and heard about not being able to ask for a drink, I was stunned lol. I was used to asking for drinks being part of the job!

Paige, I was the same way. In Pennslyvania you can go up to a guy and actually say "buy me a drink", not that I ever did, but it was nice knowing you can't get busted for something so stupid. The ironic thing it was the bartender who thinks she's management (though she is not better than any dancer or any other bartender) that "told" on me. Thats what pisses me off the most, because I am a very respectful person and if she had pulled me aside and mentioned that, I would have thanked her for the advice, threw her a couple bucks and walked away. However sinse she felt the need to get the entire management staff involved over something so trivial, she will never see another tip from me.

Well Iam in your area and they are busting clubs for this. Actually you should thank her because there is a 500.00 fine for the charge.

I'm still trying to figure out how that is soliciating though. I did a google search looking for information and couldn't find anything. If the customer doesn't end up offering to pay I pay for it myself. Like I said before I would have been a lot happier if the bartender had come and talked to me about it before getting the management staff involved. Either way I will not do that again until I can figure out exactly what the rules are in my area. I'm not out to start trouble over something so stupid, so I'm looking for a way to avoid this again.

You want to start here if your club serves alcohol:

    http://www.ttb.gov/alcohol/info/faq/subpages/lcb.htm

Unfortunately the Florida site seems to be particularly hard to navigate and the pdfs seem to be corrupt! I recently looked this up for my ATF here in Lousiana and this is the pertinent section:

Quote Originally Posted by Louisiana Alcohol & Tobacco Control Laws

    .
    .
    (7) Employ or permit persons, commonly known as B drinkers, to solicit patrons for drinks and to accept drinks from patrons and receive therefor any commission or remuneration in any other way.
So it's probably the same thing in Florida. As far I read it, the BAR is the one who can get their liquor license pulled for all the various infractions, though they might bust you for being the B drinker.

I guess you could call ordering your own drink and slow paying solicitation, so you're best just sitting there and not saying anything about a drink at all...

If you could actually get to any of the Florida pdf's you might then also find what is illegal as far as dancing goes--they mention the stage height and distance from the customer, amount of coverage and what are lewd acts, etc. in the LA link under the Laws section.

There was a big thread about the clubs riaded in tampa bay. Read it , it applies to you and believe me I worked in clearwater for years and they do bust for this. He need to ask you directly if you want a drink. If you just order it whether you pull out the money or not you can be arrested. It just happened in pasco at 5 clubs.

Pet_rock thanks for that link! I wanted to look up the Rhode Island strip club laws but my adobe reader gimmick won't work. Does anyone know if I can find these laws anywhere else online or if I can get them mailed to me? Or can anyone copy and paste and e-mail them to me? Anything would be appreciated. Thanks!

Im glad this is the rule and not the norm in many states,to include the one im in now.I have worked in many states where this has been the foundation of many "habbits" for many friends.

Its the legal"rufee"<sp>that clubs and owners have been using to kill girls for decades.

Many girls that retire from "drink sales"clubs have memberships in thier local AA in thier near future.

Let the fuckin bartenders and waitresses sell the hooch, let the entertainers entertain, just my take on it.
