    Default Yasmin BC

    Who is on this pill?

I am going to start taking this soon.

Hopefully it'll clear my skin & wont make me gain weight. Which is the problem I had with Ortho. Made me gain weight & skin looked horrible.

Also, is it true that some bc pills make you lose your hair?

I've been on it for almost a year. No problems with weight gain. My skin was never too bad so that I can't comment on. It does help with the PMS too. I tend to get weepy now a little more but I don't get bitchy nearly as much. HTH

I just started taking it this week. I am also curious to hear what others have to say about it...

I was on estrostep before and it made me gain 10lbs, break out, and have terrible mood swings

I was on Yasmin for about 2 and a half years and I rarely EVER broke out the whole time I was on it. Which was wonderful because I would get those cystic pimples right before my period. But once I was on Yasmin my face cleared up completly.
On the other hand, I did gain a few pounds. I am not sure it was from the yasmin or not though because I wasn't eating to great around that time.
The only unpleasant side effect I had was it made my breast sore and swollen. I went up at least a cup size while I was on it.
I am really sensitive to BC pills though so it may not have that sort of efect on anyone else.

I would recommend it.Out of all the pills I have been on it has had the least side effects. Some people even lose weight on it.

    I love Yasmin!

It made me skin clear up, and I actually lost weight, without changing anything in my diet or exercise. Love it love it love it!

I have absolutely no luck with bc pills. Fucking shit sucks.

I was taking these for about a week & got almost every minor side affect. From lack of sleep, lost my appetite, depression/anger tantrum, fever....etc.

Going to my doc tomorrow to see if there's anything else I can try.

My major problem is the horrible cramps I get...and skin breaking out so bad right before my period.

Which brands have you tried? Have you tried the REALLY low hormone formulations? They cause much less side effect. You should try Alesse. If you still don't have luck with that, a copper IUD may be a good choice for you.

I've tried Ortho Tricyclene in the past, & those made me vomit & gave me headaches.

And now recently I tried Yasmin and got a shitload of minor side affects such as: lack of sleep, lost my appetite(so disgusted at any food), depression/anger tantrum, fever....etc

Vyanka...... try Ortho Tri-Cyclen LO or Alesse. They are specifically made with a lot less active hormone ingredient to reduce incidence of side effects. Doesn't hurt to try. If it doesn't work, then you can talk to your doc about a copper IUD.

Crappy that you have to ask your doc about stuff..... LOL! If you failed Ortho Tri-cyclen, your doc should have automatically offered you a low dose pill instead of giving you Yasmin. Don't get me wrong.... Yasmin is great for some people because it supposedly causes some weight loss, but it causes more side effects than the low dose competitors.

Yasmin has 30 mcg of estrogen. Ortho Tri-Cyclen has 35 mcg. Ortho Tri-Cyclen LO has 25 mcg. Alesse has 20 mcg. Try Alesse..... if you still get side effects with that, then you can pretty much dump the idea of using pills. Don't mess around with anything else before you try Alesse.

Oh, and if you can't tolerate Alesse... consider a NuvaRing. VERY low dose of hormones.

Nope. Think about it as a friendship bracelet that is inserted into the vaginal vault and slowly releases hormones. 0.015 of estrogen...... a SUPER low dosage because it is absorbed differently and doesn't have to go through the GI tract.

NuvaRing is an interesting product. Super easy to use since you don't have to remember to take a pill everyday.

Vyanka, if you're interested in reading a bit more about Nuva ring, try a search for it. There have been several discussions on it in Body Business and Ladies Only.

I stopped taking my Mircette Pills because they dried my skin out....I have to hunt down Loestrin now, which is great but I did have spotting....if anyone has positive reviews of Low-Dose Pills, I hope you'll post them here.
