I have been using Proactive and I am going into my 5th week and so far I don't think my skin looks any better . My skin got pretty bad when I moved to the West coast , I have heard this is pretty common . I use to use Clearasil foaming face wash and regular peroxide as an astrigent and that worked pretty well for me . I am hoping the Proactive will work but they do give you the money back gaurntee for up to 2 months so I will give it the rest of the 3 weeks and see what happens .
Acne is an inside job, not an outside event.Feel free to add anything that works for you
I know people here get sick of my mantra, but get rid of the processed foods and significantly reduce or outright eliminate your intake of grains. You can't develop the bacteria that causes acne if you don't feed that bacteria.
Your body will thank you and there's no expensive treatments required, either.
Two cents.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

I just use regular 10% benzoyl peroxide. I've tried everything but accutane and BP seems to work the best although my skin looks dull as hell...exfoliating it breaks it out!
As Casual Observer said... inside job. There may be other factors that contribute but well... most of that involves not falling asleep with your makeup on and not touching your face too much.
When I moved to Seattle, I suddenly developed cystic acne. I had nary a blemish my whole life up to that point. I had always eaten well and was a vegetarian. It turns out that I had a food allergy and once it was removed from my diet my skin problems went away. The suddenly aspect was the fact that the food I was having trouble with was suddenly a lot more available there so I consumed much more of it.
Anyone with skin problems, I would suggest doing an elimination diet to rule out the food aspect. Versions can be found all over the net if you search.

Retin A has been a friend to me. I NEVER get pimples....Never!!!!
I have been out of Retin A for a time now so i use BP and some sort of strong acids on my face!
Hell, i have even done the "cut apple and wipe it all over my face crap"!!!!
The acids (from raw sources) are great for the skin, at least mine. Also adding fruits and vegetables into my diet much more now may help my skin...dunno.

I drinks lots of water & eat as clean as I can, & I still have acne problems. Since I was young teen.
Anyway, right now i'm doing whatever it takes not to get on Accutane. That will be my last alternative if anything. Although, I rather not.
Right now i'm taking 30mg of Zinc Picolinate 2 times a day, so that's 60mg daily. The Shen Min pills(for the skin, hair, & nail) i'm taking 3 times a day also contain 5mg of Zinc(Monomethionine) & 500mg of Patothenic Acid(D-Calcium Patothenate). It's been 5 days, so it's too early to tell if these are working for me.
And i'm going to start taking the Yasmin bc pill. I need to be on the pill bc my hormones get out of control. I hope this one doesn't make me ill like the last one I tried, made me puke & gave me headaches.
Hopefully those supplements & BC pills work well for me.
As far as creams. I also have Benzacyclin & Retin A. Good stuff.
After washing I wipe my face with CLean & Clear pads. Love those, I feel the medecine penetrate w/o that alcohol irritating feel to it. Plus it makes it feel super clean. Then after washing & before makeup I use Witch Hazel. Which someone recommended here to shrink pores. And it actually does...works well. It's right before I get my period is when my skin acts up bad.
Im sure diet has a lot to do with it... since Im out of town I havent been eating very well or regularly not to mention not as much H2O as I should and my face has gone to sh*t. Ive always been blackhead prone but its like really red and really bad... not much I can do about it until I get home.. thank gosh for heavy concealer...
It's lame that you can supposedly only get it through that one guy.Originally Posted by tampafldancer

I've read that the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is supposed to be just as effective as the 10% but less harsh on your skin. I get good results with neutrogena's 2.5% bp.
I'm going to try the obagi system soon but I want to time it over a school break so I'm not on campus looking like I have alligator face.
I clean my face night and morning with witch hazel or tea tree oil, then put on a mixture of aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil. That's been my regiment for a few years and I rarely get a pimple.

Did you buy this already?
Also let us know how it works for you, if you do buy it.
I'm still doing the Zinc P. Been taking them for about 12 days. Still too early to tell though.
Had to stop taking the Yasmin bc though, due to all the side affects. I may have to get another bc pill.
