Default What is the best way to remove hair?

Since I started dancing I have shaved or trimmed but have always gotten horrible ingrown hairs. I tried to get it waxed at the salon but the woman said it had to grow a bit first, I can't dance and let it grow, gross. Does anyone have any advice on the best ways to keep the hair off without the ingrown hairs?

    Bikini zone works.

You could always go for chemical removal, or even electrolosis(yeah i fucked that word up). But the electrolosis would be permanent, not that i could think of any reason anyone would want to keep pubic hair.

Laser all the way! Yes, it's expensive, but there are barely any side effects, it works best on dark coarse (pubic) hair, and after 4 treatments or so you never have to think about hair again!

    Or you can just shave

Anyone try the Noxema answer to Bikini Zone yet? I saw it and was curious.

I'm a waxer from waaaaay back.... and always worked in full nude clubs.... never had a problem letting it grow out a bit. Nowdays I work in no touch clubs so it really isn't a problem. It was more of a concern (and I found many ways with dealing with it) when I was in touching clubs.

Laser and electrolysis is way to expensive for me. It only cost me $50 to get all of me done including a brazillian type of bikini wax (all off except a run-way stripe).

I get it all waxed sometimes because I get tired of shaving every othe day, it leaves bumps and dries my skin out...The only thing I don't like about waxing is the fact that if you have light, sensitive skin it's going to stay red for a day or two....I've tried Nair once, and I would never do it again, once I took it off it was burning and I had a painful rash on my legs for a week or so...it was nasty...

Now, I remember someone telling me that laser wasn't permanent, just made the hair stay away for a long time, and that electrolysis was the only permanent hair removal available. I've also heard the opposite. Does anyone know for sure? I've heard lots of conflicting stuff.

Lazer is permanent, as is electrolysis.

Best way to get rid of hair for me while dancing was simple shaving and using something called 'no bumps'. It's actually made for men's faces. Waxing is nice, but I'm asian so fair skin + black hair = ugly growth between sessions.

I've been getting my back, shoulders, and my neck just under the jawline lasered off. It works, although I'm not done yet, the reduction in shave time for my neck, and the fact that I don't get razor burn when I do it now is great.

I recomend avoiding the lightsheer laser BTW, its common in a lot of the salons that do it. Its wavelength requires a much higher amount of energy to be efective, and hurts so much more than the coolglide.

There is no place here where I am at that does brazillian waxing so i have no choice but to shave. The best way to awoid bumps that i have found is to use the same blade on your bikini area at all times. our pubic hair is like mens faces, if they use your razor after you shave your legs it fucks them up. same with your pubic hair, so have a separate blade. also i have found mixing the shaving cream 1/2 and 1/2 with baby oil works well. Then I either out on aftershave or bikini zone imeditaly after shaving to close the pores to prevent ingrown hairs from showing up. Another important dont, dont wear lace panites or mesh panites for the first few hours after shaving. always try to wear cotton it seems to help. and dont shave everyday, everyother day is best!Good luck

I agree with the last post.I use my husbands razor mach3 for that area it works sooo much better and leaves me smoother. I use a ladies razor for my legs, for some reason the mach3 isn't so great on my legs.

Laser is permanent hair reduction. I am getting mine though at a place that does offer lifetime discounts that make it really cheap to come back for touch ups. Also, some of the hair might not be totally gone but just come back softer and light and then not be affected by the laser. I'm still glad I'm getting bikini lasering. I've had 3 treatments so far and have to shave a little but it's just pieces here and there and not like really shaving at all.

I had my first session of laser hair removal yesterday. I chose to get the Brazilian with just a landing strip left. It is really quick and only slightly uncomfortable. A few times it felt like a rubber band snap, especially when they zapped the kitty hole.

Actually, I found a great deal. 5 sessions for $525 (30% off regualr price) and pay half now and half later. It will save so much money in the long run from not having to get waxed.

Middle Eastern women have a method called "sugaring" where they cook honey, lemon juice, resin + other secret ingredients together to make a ball they roll around their skin to rip hair out. I saw a group of women doing this on IFC (secret film, natch)....it's a natural way to remove hair.
