    Default Besides the money

My mother asked me the other day, when we drove by my old club, what attracts me to the job as a stripper besides the good money? I said the freedom of expression through dance, the good people you meet on the job, and an overall healthy active feeling.
So... what is the thing or things that attract and keep you stripping besides the great money?

Dancing...if I wanted to be part of a modern dance company, I would have to PAY FOR dance school. With exotic dancing, I get PAID TO dance.
Sounds like a cliche, but when I was little I wanted dance instruction..but, "No Money" for it....
I have met some exceptional people and had hair-raising adventures.

    Re: Besides the money

I would have to say for me the money is the main reason. Where else can a 19 year old get paid as well. Perhaps also the hours I can pick and choose if I had made more in one week I can work less the next. But I am just using to put myself through University then I am quitting. I do like the fact if you really hate a customer you can tell them off. Whereas in most other jobs you have to grin and bear it. But yeah just the money and the hours.

Besides the money, definately the freedom, the hours (and I work dayshift but at least no getting up real early for sure), not having to wear "business attire", getting to talk to people and listen to music all day, at times the artistic expression

I think the first 4 posts have already pretty much summed up what I love about the job for me. I dig meeting new people all the time - I don't knowany other job where you get to meet and chat to such a diverse range of people. I also love the fact that in this job the customer is not always right so I am free to tell people where to go if I want or need to! I think dancing in itself is very good for the soul aswellas the body!
And what other jobs are there where you get complemented throughout the whole shift?! despite the bad times yousometimes get stripping, the good definatly make it all worthwhile as far as I'm concerned!

The freedom to be able to pick and choose where I work is a big one... I'm not "stuck" anywhere... I can find employment across the nation without too much of a problem... the sales aspect of it as in the last year I've really started to like "hustling" and am missing it now that I've mainly been doing other work not club work.

Working with so many other people....

    The performing most definately.

Where I live in Kansas, dancing is the only decent money a woman with little to no education can make. I love meeting new people, im able to take time off when ever i want of need to without any notice, I get to wear clothes that make me feel beautiful and comfortable, I love what i do...and it sure beats the h*ll out of working at mcdonalds!!!!

I like the fact that guys who wouldn't look twice if we were on the street are drooling while I dance on stage.

It lets you get that "other" side of your personality out, even if its only for a few hours a night.

That, and the money, of course.

Emily's post kind of brings up another point... How many would still do it if the money was not as great? Like the phenomenon was not there, and it paid just as much as a regular job.( that you can get without a professional education)

Definately the freedom of schedule, and freedom to travel. You can go a lot of places in the world and get a job dancing. I love the "real life soap opera" feel of it too. You meet so many interesting characters. It's definately never mundane! The fact that no two days are exactly a like. Would I do it if it paid like a regular job? While here in Rhode Island it does pay like McDonalds right about now and I'm still doing it.... :-( this place sucks.

feminism! i am a pro-sex feminist, and i believe that encouraging women to love and use thier pussies *gasp!* for their own benefit is tantamount to women's liberation.

now, money is an issue too. if it didn't pay like it does, but still paid as well as waitressing, i'd do it. if it paid less, i might not- i need the dough!

Yeah even if it paid the same as a regular job and not better, I would definately still do it.

besides the money, i do it because i love entertaining and performing. i quit club work because i didn't enjoy lap dancing, but i do feature shows because i absolutely love it. i love putting on a costume and dancing and making everyone at a bachelor party laugh and have a good time.

apart from that, the freedom that comes with the job is awesome, the hours suit my lifestyle perfectly, i love the people i work with.... yeah, there's a lot of reasons.

The biggest thing...1)It has made me more in touch with my body and appearance. I watch what I eat more, watch my posture, how I present myself to people, improved confidence, made me a lot braver..now if I see something I want (a boy, a job, a favor/deal, apt) I ask for it because the worse that someone can tell you is no and I've been told no plenty!!!)

2)I am able to save up to improve on things that I'd normally not be able to do....teeth whitening, LASIK, BA...these are all things I will soon be able to do as a result of my dancing.

3)I like working 'for myself' and learning how to manage money and stop living 'beyond my means' like I did in my early years of college. I love being able to pay for school with the cash I made and know that I budgeted enough that I have a nest egg as well.

4)Like being able to travel and take off when I need to, being able to sleep in, test out different selling strategies....and LEAVE when it is a slow, dull night.

5)Affirming my power as a strong, beautiful, intelligent woman.

    Very liberating profession.
