(((((NOLA))))))
I don't know what else to say. My thoughts and prayers are with them, as well as Mississippi. This is awful.

oh wow that is so scary--
<Rhiannon_SW> :that's where Jimmy Hoffa went!* Rhiannon_SW gasps.

I just finished the article, and I see this disaster has brought out both the best and the worst in people. I can understand someone looting for food or water, etc. At this point, there might be no other choice. But I heard on the news this morning people were also taking big-screen plasma televisions & computers. And where do you plan on using these things in a flooded city without power?
Only small things I can do for those many suffering souls right now is make a donation and pray!
I don't think these looters are in their right mind right now. It's like a mad frenzy. They all have to evacuate and you're certainly not going to be able to take any of that crap with you. I'm so upset my stomach is sick. If anyone knows any lawyers in Tampa, send them my way cuz I make my living off of lawyers and I might have to support my family soon since they might have no real source of income due to this fucking hurricane.
Excuse my french--- but fuck that, the media is a bitch... Like people would steal "big" screen t.v.'s, appliances, ect.... Yea, lets load it up on my jet ski, then I'll ride up the east coast to find a wall to plug this in... You know what, even if they are and can find a resource to use it, you might as well pick up a X-Box and some games, you're going to be there for awhile man.......It just seems that they precieve this to everyone as a large %... Large percent of people are looting food, IMO, that's not looting, that's surviving.. Looting??? What, are the grocery and convient store employees going to be there to sell it before over half the goods go bad anyway??? Aren't they still going to lose the same amount of money if it sits there and rots???? If it was me, go get me some bread, water, other neccessities, then I'd come back for beer!!!! Damn right I would, I want to eat and not remember this... (by the way I don't drink, just making a sarcastic point)
I just saw a NOLA woman being interviewed on CNN. She was asking why the city was not better prepared for a situation like this. The government knew something like this could happen but did not build better levees or a sea wall. What was it? Did NOLA did not have enough clout to get better protection? Dammit. My heart is breaking for the peoples of the Gulf Coast.
That's so awful, and my heart goes out to everyone affected.
Feature costumes for sale!
The levee system in the NOLA area is part of the problem, not the solution. Long story short, the creation of levees and canals to control the Mississippi and facilitate the laying of oil and gas pipelines--a process that began in the 1920s--has created substantial wetlands loss, which would have served as a buffer to storm surge.Did NOLA did not have enough clout to get better protection? Dammit. My heart is breaking for the peoples of the Gulf Coast.
NOLA averages six feet under sea level as it is; this was a long time coming, and made worse by the massive loss of wetlands. Bigger levees wouldn't have done anything except slow the inevitable.
By the way, OTB is fine; she's in TX.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

Looks like people are walking around with AK's and looting jewelery, what could you be possibally thinking???? Cops tell wandarers to go to a convention center where they would be given water, food, medicine.... Turns out it was either never there, or supplies had already been used... Rescue workers in all three states walking over the dead to try to save the living...
What I would like to know is...people were warned and ask to find higher ground and evacuate....some people responded saying " we have no money to leave ...no gas.. ect.." so why did the president or national guard ....help these people out...I know some may think this a lame qestion but..I feel it is legit.... we can go fight a war and help save another country but we can't help our own people .... I hope someone understands what i am trying to say...I suck at trying to get my point across.

The officials demanded that people get out. Those that are left in NOLA are the problems now (looters, rescues, alligator food, sanitation, etc). They should have had help getting out and those that refused, forced out. The highways should have been monitored better and staged. There will always be some that refuse, the crazies. The Big Easy is dead. It was too easy to ignore a hugh impending disaster, not like they had no time or no idea what was happening. I know this seems heartless, but it would have come out much better. I feel very much for the victims, but I think there is widespread negligence.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.
