    Default NOLA/Mississippi Residents Heading Up?

My Husband received a call today at work from our rental agent here in Memphis. She asked that he organize some furniture packages for their vacant apartments. It seems that she's been overrun with people from these areas who have nothing but the clothes on their backs.

I'm putting their number up, and our agent's name. If you, or anyone you know is heading up this way and needs a place to stay, call them. The apartments will be fully furnished I'm sure. The rental agent is very good, and she will help them (or you) out.

    (901) 278-9488
Ask for Kathy if you can (she's hard to get a hold of normally, but I'm sure with so many people going into the office, she'll be staying in for quite some time.)

    The Office Address Is:
    1859 Madison
    Memphis, TN 38104

They can tell you all the details, because unfortunately, I don't know much about it.

For those in the North Texas-South Oklahoma-ArkLaTex area, the following organizations are the most active in taking donations of canned foods, bottled water, money, and might even be able to use a bit of your volunteer time:

    Red Cross

    Salvation Army

    North Texas Food Bank

    Council on American-Islamic Relations

They're saying on the news if you want to make a donation, the best thing you can send at this time is CA$H. The agencies need money to buy food, medicine, water, clothes, housing, etc. Money will also help stimulate those local economies (they'll need that as much as they'll need food and shelter). Don't bother sending food and water, just send cash so the appropriate people can buy it.

plus sending stuff is always a pain to transport and ends up costing more than if you just send money.

Just a thought: They need GAS, food and water. Red cross helps with medical problems, food and clothing, PLUS there is FEMA and MEMA. Fedreral amd Mississippi, both of which I have already contacted. Batteries and battery powered stuff like radios and TV's.. to get information out, so any of you folks with contacts for trailors and trucks to take stuff there. Please send it.

    Blessings!
