Let's just hope you don't get drunk, decide to get jiggy and forget it's there.

But it's the female who has to convince the the rapist to put the condom on. Serial rapists would catch on to this anti-rape condom & of course refuse & bring their own. Or there are rapists who would attack without using a condom whatsoever. It would be hard to determine who would be convinced to put on the condom, but I suppose any help is better than nothing.

Judging from the article, it appeared the anti-rape condom is inserted into the vagina like a tampon. Does that mean that you insert it before leaving the house in case you might be in a situation where you could be raped?

yes, i believe you wear it like a tampon in the vagina, and it protects the woman like a female condom. i think you would put it on before your left the house, and if someone tries to insert hsi penis, he will be very sorry.

i think this is the greatest thing in the world, and that we should give several to every woman on the planet. i want to know where i can get one. imagine if a guy tried to finger me during a dance! yowza!

Quite honestly, it is nice to see that someone has thought of something to protect women against this.. although, I do agree to some extent about the possibility of it creating more harm to the victim, but then again, depending on the shock level and pain level.. that may not be a problem...

Just think about how much men cringe and yelp when you hit them with your teeth or a fingernail during oral (Not that I would know, just going on what I've heard. No dick for me, please). If that little knick sets them off that much, imagine a barbed wire cuff wrapped around it. I say great idea. What I don't understand is how it is considered "too barbaric". WTF? Like being sexually assaulted isn't? The only way I can see it backfiring is if a jilted g/f puts it in and goes after her b/f or someone does it on purpose. Other than that, I say there are never too many ways to protect yourself. Put it on the market. Better yet, hand it out at Planned Parenthood Centers, and female dorms.

Seriously my sick humor is in no way meant to belittle or make fun of a victim of rape.. It is a sick act and the men (or women based on another thread) deserve the punishment they get.

Hmm. I'm all for items that reduce rape. However. Making it a woman's duty to wear one of these things is a little skewed. And. Rape is not a crime of sex - remember, everyone there are ALWAYS easier ways to have sex than to accost a stranger on the street. Like to pay for it. Which leads me to believe that the men aren't just going to say "Well, this pussy is no good, let's try another." They - if they are not in deep shock and bleeding to death - are going to be pretty angry. And. I'm trying to imagine something that can cause damage to a man that is being separated from cells that have very limited feeling by a membrane of plastic. That seems like a recipe for infections (which is a problem with plastic tampon applicators - which aren't meant to damage anyone). Particularly if the rapist uses object insertion - would a bottle, for example, drive the apparatus into the woman's vaginal walls? And (most of all) being afraid of the stranger on the street or in the park is displaced. Men are more than 27 times more likely to be accosted/mugged/attacked by strangers in public than women. Women are being raped (as the article states) in their homes, by their dates, boyfriends, husbands, fathers, fathers-in-law, stepfathers, brothers and what have you. This apparatus seems obviously incapable of dealing with the vast, vast majority of sexual assaults, which don't require this method of indentification and, because they are perpetrated largely through ongoing intimidation or unexpected attack, it is not likely to be worn (for example, when a woman gets into bed at night). It seems to me to be suspiciously like a portable vaginal prison.

These devices have been around for over a hundred years. Not exactly a new idea, but this one is the most practical that I've seen.

If a younger girl knows she is going to be assaulted by a family member, then it would certainly aide in the believeability and identification. You make some good points Jenny, in this, and another rape forum.

This article says it's being tested in South Africa. Going off of the comments above about it being too hard to predict when you're going to be raped are true enough, but I think there were some dictatorships in Africa using their army to subdue people by raping the women. They were actually doing this as a political tactic. Now, I know there's life after rape for many women, but my preference at the moment is that I'd rather have the shit kicked out of me, and possibly even die rather than be raped. So, I wouldn't mind if the rapist got his penis fucked up and then tried to take it out on me. For gang rape situations, it sucks since the barbs would be only good for one rapist though...the other guys would then take it out on the woman. RAPE SUCKS and I honestly think all convicted rapists (with some limitations to protect guys from women who cry rape...let's just say all rapes that used force, ruphies, or something defining like that) should have their balls and their penis cut off with just enough anesthesia that the men have to stay awake and watch it happen.
Let's see how they handle that traumatic experience.

^^ Geez, that's a very good point. It wouldn't work in a gangrape scenario. The woman might as well have her life written off, the other guys would kick the sh*t out of her.

Another thing that worries me is that rapists might restrict their victims before raping them, such as by tying them up or drugging them, so if you hurt the guy's penis, you still have no way of escaping and he'll take his anger out on you at some point anyway.

It is a good idea but it is also the first and like many primary inventions, there is a lot of work to be done on it. Still, we might be getting somewhere as far as protecting women from such horrific acts is concerned.

    Defensive analysis.

They should have thought about adding some med that makes the dick go limp in very short order and makes the guy have some trouble breathing. Unless other perps are there, likely the attacker will go away very quickly before he can get too many blows in. Of course if he has a weapon, it depends on how fast he gets scared.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

OOOO, a paralysis option, or perhaps something that will make his entire body turn purple for 72 hrs so it makes it easier for the cops to find him....though, if it requires surgery to get it out of the penis, then it probably hurts bad enough to accomplish the guy being too preoccupied to hurt the woman, and the rapist would probably go to the hospital within 72 hrs. anyways.

I wonder if this thing has to be removed every day and put back in?? Disposable?? It sounds like this thing works like a mouse trap and is painfull. But if it saves a woman from being a rape victim, and teaches the attacker a lesson

just imagine how well it would work as a preventative, though. let's say we issue two of these to every woman in the country. they don't have to wear them, but still, even if only half of them do, how many men are gonna think twice about raping a woman if there's a fifty/fifty chance his dick will be injected with stabbing devices that can only be removed surgically? i think the best way to make this work even better is to make sure that it permanently disables the man's penis so that it can never be used for rape again. also, i think all women should be issued two handguns and a new box of ammunition each month as well as a concealed carry permit and given continuing gunmanship education and marksmanship training. violence against women would fall through the floor. men would be terrified. a perfect world!

granted, i'm not exactly objective.... (see my thread, take it off to heal yourself!) but it might work.

Err, hate to say it, but maybe a woman has to wear two of them. Three, if you count oral, though I think the threat of teeth would do it. I've never talked to a rapist. What do I know. Make love, not war.

i think the best way to make this work even better is to make sure that it permanently disables the man's penis so that it can never be used for rape again. also, i think all women should be issued two handguns and a new box of ammunition each month as well as a concealed carry permit
1 - Once bitten, twice shy.
2 - Women with handguns? Now that would be INSANE.

But if they were cheap, say a dollar or two, it would be rational way to make them available. And have the govmt stay out of your sex life.

In how many fits of jealous rage would these guns be used by whomever could get to them first? Or a bad case of PMS? Or her man forgetting to change the diaper a few times too many? This idea is too ridiculous for me to spend any more words on the topic.

Every woman with 2 handguns and a monthly supply of ammo? Hell, I wouldn't trust MYSELF with a gun, let alone the rest of my gender. And honestly.. Why would women need a fresh supply of ammo every single month? They'd be "defending themselves" that often that they would run out of bullets? That sounds like an accident just waiting to happen.

This anti-rape condom could work, of course. But I agree with Threlayer. A woman would need to wear it in a few places to be completely safe from rape.

the idea is for it to be practically gaurunteed that the women would be armed. and no, of course they wouldn't be shooting that many people! they'd use it at the range to keep their aim in good shape. i'm a certified riflery instructor, and let me tell you, it is NOT like riding a bicycle. use it or lose it.
