    Default Rock is the Minority

    Very few girls at my club dance to rock music so my dj doesn't have such a great selection for us. I have been making my own mixes and bringing them in and it has been working out wonderfully for me. Does anyone have any great Rock sets, anything from classic rock to alternative and in between. Thanks!

    First of all, I feel you on that. I'm not really big on rap/hiphop... I mean it's good stuff, but enough is enough.

    You are SO lucky your DJ doesn't have an alpha-male complex. Mine gets insulted if you even ask for a particular band. If you can get your DJ to play the doors, do it. If not for you, for me...

    Anyway, my sets are generally rock and hiphop/rap. There's nothing wrong with being eclectic, and it ensures you'll appeal to different types of custies.

    Tool is great to dance to, depending on how hard you like your rock. A Perfect Circle is like tool with two shots of estrogen. Alternative, if you're talking original alternative, not this new crap, is allllll about the Smashing Pumpkins.

    Stick to your own mixes, since you're allowed to use them.

    I will tip a girl who dances to good rock music. She could look like Janet Reno and she'd still get a couple dollars.

    I'm partial to Lacuna Coil.

    garbage, yes!! omigod, I love dancing to them. I also like new stuff, killers, franz ferdinand, white stripes. Most all girls dance to R&B, hiphop, etc, so I always get cheers with the rock stuff (and stand out from the pack, and attention always helps, even if I suck on stage still) older stuff like Aerosmith and Billy Idol works for me as well. BTW, #1Crush by Garbage (off the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack) is one of my fav slow dance songs.

    Hi There...

    For classic rock sets you cant go wrong with groups like..Ac/Dc, Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Van Halen and of course Zepplin.

    Modern Rock - Puddle of mudd, Breaking Bejamin, Chevelle, Linkin Park....etc
    (Newer)

    Modern Rock - Bush, Creed, Live, Hole, Nirvana..ect
    (Older)

    Others you might try : Nickleback, Judas Priest, Tool, Korn, Godsmack, Jackal...

    Hope that helps

    I'm A Dj my self and I play almost all rock. The majority of guys with money like rock. Well at least where I'm at. However I will say during the early week and during the day mellower or clasic rock works. a little better than stuff like slipknot.

    I enjoy all varieties of music but i especially enjoy a good rock set.
    Someone mentioned Danzig...a good set featuring them as your first song is kick ass.
    Song 1 Danzig - Mother
    Song 2 Cracker - Low
    Song 3 Filter - Hey man, nice shot.

    Give it a try.

    One of my regulars exclusively uses 80s rock/metal during her stage sets. Does very well.

    Our club is a big Rock club, too.

    Off the top of my head, if I were you... I would go out and find some of the older Chevelle. "Closure", "The Red" etc. Definately harder sounding, but nice. If you like mellow stuff I agree with others, listen to some Perfect Circle and Audioslave. See if you like those.

    On my busy nights, when Rock music is the majority in the club I play the stuff you would hear on an alternative rock station, and the 80s classics. Our crowd is mixed, and responds well to that.

    I always tell girls that ask for rock sets, "What would be the music you would rock out to in your car?"

    It may not always work, but it might give your Dj a good idea of what you are looking for.

    I'm generally a day/midshift girl, so even though I dance to rock, I have to keep it reined in a little bit. Seriously hard shit is a good way to scare off customers at 11 AM

    * Anything by The Cure, ESPECIALLY Lullaby, Fascination Street, Charlotte Sometimes, Burn
    * Garbage, "No. 1 Crush"
    * Depeche Mode "Stripped"
    * Joy Division "Love Will Tear Us Apart" "She's Lost Control"
    * Marilyn Manson "Mechanical Animals" "Coma White" (<- slower) "Rock Is Dead" "The Dope Show" (<- more of a nighttime set, but it's so good)
    * Led Zepplin "You Shook Me All Night Long"
    * David Bowie "Fame" and Pink Floyd "Money" (this is hands-down one of my favorite sets)
