    Default Fasting

I decided that since I've just turned one more year closer to 30, it's time that I clean up my diet. I'm a huge sugar junkie and while I don't eat a lot of beef or pork, every now and then, I do get a hankering for a hamburger with bacon & cheddar, or a nice juicy steak.

I've decided that beginning Monday, I would like to do a cleansing of sorts via fasting. Problem is, I'll be working and going to school all next week. Has anyone done this before? If so, did you experience any probs? I was thinking of fasting (water, chicken broth, carrot juice, fruits and veggies) for 7 days and then slowly introduce chicken and seafood (inc. fish, shrimp, lobster, crab) back into my diet.

Another issue is at 98lbs and with a high metabolism, I don't want to lose weight (although I could stand to lose a layer in the ab area, lol). Should I do something else other than fasting?

Try changing the food in your diet like swithing to sugar free versions of food such as bread, jelly and such.

When I fast, it's for religious reasons. the first day of my fast is liquid (water, peppermint tea, no caffeine or sugar) and only APPLES. any kind. Then, the second day is veggies (no potatoes, though) and fruits. After the 2 days, I find my body just can't do anymore but after the 2 days, my body is happier with healthier food, no sugar and caffeine.

Be sure to listen to your body! And do a little reasearch about foods and what they contain. I'm 31, and I lose weight too fast if I'm not careful. I also have very low blood pressure and low iron, so I have to take those things into consideration.

You will lose weight if you do it. I did a two-day juice fast and list 4 lbs. It does make you feel cleansed though. I love doing them before starting a new eating regimine now.

I researched liquid fasts on the internet before I did it. A lot of people do it for spiritual reasons (cleansing the brings you closer to God), but most people do it for diet. It's not recommended to do it very long. If you plan to do it over 2 days, perhaps you might be overdoing it.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I guess 7 days is a bit much. Maybe the 2-3 days will be enough. I don't want to lose any weight, I just know I'm due for an overall body cleansing.

Bad idea. Instead of switching to sugar substitutes, start using unrefined sugar. Your body more readily uses it as opposed to the refined sugar which gets turned to fat and stored (body doesn't break it down as fast). Substitutes are BAD. Unrefined is good...in moderation, of course. But, much healthier for you.

You could possibly do the fast if you have it last for 2-3 days. You can do the fast once a month...or once every couple of months...as opposed to doing it for 7 full days. You'll still be cleansing your body...just not as drastically. Also, keep in mind that you may still lose weight, but it'll most likely be "toxic" waste.

And, above all...listen to your body!!! If you feel something "wrong", stop the fast. Don't ignore anything your body is telling you!

Let us know how it goes!
