    stage props?

    Hey there!
I just joined your website today and I am getting really excited about the whole idea of becoming a stripper!!! I feel like i've found that niche for myself between acting out a sexy character but not being an actress and not having to get close to the guys. just teasing them and leaving them. Don't get me wrong......i'm not a man hatter i'm actually very happly married

Sorry i'm way off subject. what i wanted to ask was about whether you can bring on props for a stage dance. like a desk for a school girl rountine?? or is that up to the club to decide? Reason i ask is cause my mind is going a million different directions with all kinds of ideas!!

    Janx

    P.S. i love this site!!!

Desk....er no. Little over the top hun.

For routine or schticks, special shows etc. Try smaller props such as: eye glasses, funky hair, little girl lunchbox, belly chains, special ethnic wraps, leather pieces, leather cuffs, small whip, hair piece, special music and special outfits..etc.

Like stuff you can take with you. Might as well have fun if youre gonna be up there for 3-7min. Most of the time a happy routine with a smile will suffice but if you want to be the center of attention or simply have more fun props are cool.

My suggestion is that you start simple. You should get a mini dress or like a neon bikni set to start make sure you go to a real dancer store to get your stuff it looks better on stage. You sound like you are really looking forward to be a dancer which is cool but don't try to do to much your first weeks out i would hate to see you make a fool of yourself. So my advive is keep it simple have fun and you were find you niche in time.

    Re: stage props?

you can tell a newbie right off the bat
i usually do go all out when i try something new. but i will try to control myself this time and take heed of your advice.
But one other thing i might be jumping to fast into is the costumes.
You said buy them at a real dance store. I would but i also have these ideas that i can't find at a dance store. Here in san Diego you have a lot of military and i think making an outfit from a Marine Corps uniform would be sexy as hell and cater to the population.

I think i answered my own question. Like you said. take it slow, learn from it and then move up. Thanks again.
I will be practicing and trying to learn this art. I hope to be ready to look for a job in a month at the most. I will keep you all posted on my ups and downs along the way

Hey its me agine. I can see you are really thinking and you will do great but i have some or adivce and i am not trying to put down your ideas at all i think you are on the right track but i also dance in a mirltary town and i have to say soliders some times get very offened by the uniform being messed with this is not a great idea some men i am sure will find it sexy but there is a good chance it could over like a led ballon. Soilders take the uniform very seriously even amongst each other in non work situations some get upset if its worn into a bar or modified just don't start with that. See what the other girls in your area are doing. I am realy not trying to bash your ideas but i dont want to see you embarress yourself in the club. Please relax you will do great with your drive. ps. sometimes they don't want to be remined of work in the club. something to think about.

Oh yhea there are alot of theads on this website that will tell you where to find dance clothes online.

    Hope this helps.

DOn't worry. I'm not easily offened. I love all of your advice. i always want constructive critisim. i'm usally so involved in my own thoughts that it helps when others give me their opinion. Cause i'll never think of it that way until someone else brings it up.

i'm actually prior miltary myself. so i know how those guys work. i think i understand what you're saying but at the same time part of me still wants to try it. i 'm use to working with hundreds of guys and only one or 2 other females. i think i'll get the hang of this though. live and learn
every article and forum i've read makes sense and really helps me out where i had questions. i think the best advice any of you has given is to just go to the clubs and see what it's all about. i'm still very naive and have a lot to learn. i have a lot of work to do.

    Hey Janx,

Here's a link with several military costumes made for dancers...

However, I would expect that in a military area, this idea gets overplayed. You may want to just invest in a basic bikini set first, and see what the other girls wear (or don't wear).

Best of luck to you, I love your enthusiasm!

I love your spunk too. I want to go with the get something simple if you haven't danced yet. I would think you'd get there and be a little overwhelmed when you get on stage as to focusing on if guys are digging it. I may be wrong though I only started dancing on sunday.. but I do have experiance form three years ago as well. I am hoping to also go work down in Sn Diego some weekends so let me know how it goes!

The thing about stage props is it may have a conflict with your clubs' liability insurance. Make sure you talk to your club management before bringing up any odd objects up on stage with you. Also remember that whatever you use, make sure that it ENHANCES your act but doesn't MAKE your act. You are the celebrity on stage, don't let the prop be.

Take it easy. Work for a few weeks to get a solid stage routine down first. Once your comfortable up there then start working in the props. I've seen new dancers go all out and they really can't even dance yet and it looks incrediably awkward. Go out and get a few basic costumes (one short dress, one gown - if required at club, one bikini, and one 2 piece outfit) Figure out which ones work best for you and make YOU feel sexy. For me its mini dresses, rompers, and jumpsuits. Check out ebay. I get a lot of costumes off there for half or more off of their original price

You beat me to that, lol.

I am prior service Marines and I would catch hell 24/7 because I modified my Dress Alphas. Well, at least untill they found out I was a devil dawg.

But if you wern't a Marine, that could bite you in the ass BIG TIME.

If I were you, I would go to a few clubs as a custy, she how most of the girls dress; watch the way they move on stage and try to adjust yourself to that. Until you have been doing this for a while; it's never good to call that much attention to yourself, it might be the wrong kind that you will get.

    Just my $0.02.

i cast my vote for the first one, the green mini dress. it's hot, and looks easy to move in and get out of. just wondering, do military men have an issue with these sorts of military lingerie-costumes, like they do with an actual uniform that's been altered?
