Default French Manicure Vs Pink and White

Okay I have a really stupid question. I was at the nail place today and I always get a french manicure. The guy doing my nails kept saying pink and white so I looked up and saw it was $30 dollars and kept saying no "french manicure" Anyway I asked him what it was and really couldn't understand what he was saying so I was hoping someone here could let me know exactly what the difference is between the 2. Thanks

Do you get acrylics or just a manicure?

French manicure is when they do the regular nail and then paint it with a nude color and then the white tip.

The pink and white are the actual colors of the arcrylic and they blend the two together so the finished product looks like a french manicure...but with no polish to chip.

No doubt. It's one of the giveaways in public. I like good old red or pink.

I actually get a cotton candy on my nails. It's like a sheer opaque kinda pink. It looks good, and looks REAL and I'm all for that

Venus said it - I used to get french but was talked into pink and whites and will never go back. I never have to worry about chipping polish because the acrylic is the color. One downside is tanning, it'll turn the nails yellow. I bought these little finger slip things that cover your nail when you tan so my nails are always perfect ... id recommend them to anyone...

I alternate getting the plain french tips with the pink and white. The pink and white is cool and not a lot of people have their nails done that way so it makes you stand out. I do my toes to match as well.

I have acrilycs and I get the french manicure with the white tips airbrushed on. If I wanted to get pink and white would they have to remove the tips and start over? My nails are soooo thin they would break off if I didn't get the tips etc.

I don't think French is the stripper uniform. I just think it's popular because you never have to worry about your nails matching your outfit. If I have hot pink polish, I feel weird wearing olive geen.

I still wear hot pink though and others....I'm a regular polish girl because I love the variety of colors too much.

I don't think they'd have to start over, they just file down the top a bit and then apply the two different acrylics.

I always have the pink and whites because I'm a chipper!! I can't last 24 hours with polish. Even on my toes.

When I lived in Houston, I always got white tips and then they put pink acrylic over the nail bed. I don't remember what they called this but it was by far the best option (most expensive too). I can't find any nail salons that do that here in Arizona. It's either white paint or white acrylic. I have been seeing alot of colored french manicures lately too, like blue, black, pink or silver tips with natural nail bed. I think a little gem glued into the tip is sexy too, looks like a nail piercing.

As far as pink & whites/french manicures being the in the stripper uniform, I think it's because it looks clean, pretty and matches everything. I dont wear anything else except for Essie Mademoiselle (which is really sheer), so I don't have that matching problem.

i love Essie's Mademoiselle. i get that on my nails and french on my toes/with rhinestones over the line of white. I also like cotton candy and white tips. I haven't worn fake nails for a year since my nails got healthy again. they did too much damage, my only problem now is that my polish always chips off my mani.

I wear french on my fingers and toes. I never have to worry about matching and I have white paint to "touch up" if I chip or screw it up some how.
