Sad Lost my wedding ring at work . . . .

I am so angry and sad that this happened!!

I make no secret of the fact that I am married. I almost always wear my ring at work. I always have to take it off to put on my panty hose (required at my club) or else it rips them. So tonight I took it off and piut it on the counter while I put on my hose. I was chatting with another girl and apparently forgot to put it back on. I noticed it less than 90 minutes later, raced back into the room, and of course the ring was no where to be found.

We searched our bags, the bar, the restroom, even my car, and of course it is gone. Two girls went home between the time I took it off and the time I noticed it. I have worked with both these girls for over a year, and both of them make very good money and have no need to take a ring.

I posted a sign in the dressing room, that there is a reward for the ring and that it is basically worthless to anybody but me. (The stone is flawed and also scratched, so the ring would not sell for much. It is also silver and a low carot-weight gold, not really that valuable.)

This makes me so angry! Why can't people just keep thier hands to themselves!? I know there are lots of people in the world with much bigger problems than this, but still . . . . . .

    Sigh.

Colleen, I'm so sorry to hear that. Whenever I've lost something special, I always have this uncomfortable feeling like part of me is missing and cannot rest until I find what I'm looking for.

Was it the counter in the dressing room? Is there a chance that it might have been knocked off the counter? I know in my club, there are bags, shoes, possessions everywhere and it's not uncommon for these items to push other items into different places? I think the sign is a good idea. Also recheck your own possessions. You might have absent indedly sat it somewhere. There has been the odd occassion I've done something like this myself.

Sorry again. I hope you manage to find it.

Colleen, I am so sorry about that. Whenever I wear my engagement ring to work I lock in in my locker, just for that fear. I really hope you find it. I guess your dressing room doesn't have cameras? It just sucks that people would steal something so valuble to another person

That sucks. I never wore any of my rings into work. I wore "replacement" rings. I left my real rings at home and wore rings that replaced those rings on my fingers. That way, it wouldn't bother me if something happened to them.

Hope you get the ring back. Sorry to hear this happened.

Sorry this happened to you. I've had an article of clothing stolen from there, it wasn't valuable, but it was a top I really liked & couldn't replace. Also if I didn't have my coat @ the time, I would have had to borrow something to go home in. The fact that your loss is so much greater makes it hard. I hope you get it back, I really do. Take care.

    Colleen,

I am so sad that you can't find your wedding ring! You must feel so awful. I hope that I don't make myself seem simple minded by saying this, but when I lose something that is important to me I always say a prayer to St. Anthony. St. Anthony of Padua is the patron saint of lost and stolen items (in the Catholic church). I believe that it has helped me find things that were impossibly lost. Anyhow, I really hope you get your ring back.

    Good luck.

    Sorry to hear that.

PS. Take a picture of the ring and distribute it to the local pawn shops. You may even want to look at what they have received in the last week. This is where most stolen rings surface..Good Luck

Wow Coleen, I'm really sorry to hear about that. Does your hubby know? How'd he take it? I'm hoping it was an honest accident and it turns up. That sh*t happened to me last year. I left my wallet sitting out in the weight room by accident b/c our weight coach wouldn't let us carry it in with us and wouldn't let me goget it. Of course, it grew legs. Some asshole stole my wallet full of plastic and gift cards. Luckily they found out who it was and made him pay me back in CASH. Worst part about it, the guy drives a brand new Tahoe with 22's. He had no need for my measley $290.

Oh honey, I'm so sorry. I lost my lucky pendant in Puerto Rico and I wanted to cry- that thing got me through a lot.
Like Malibu said, things do get knocked into bags- I left my bag open in the dressing room and someone's No Doze pills got dropped into my bag. (I was just glad they weren't anything illegal. Could have turned out badly for me.)
I bet it'll turn up, what with a poster in the club and you coming back to work there...guilt is a powerful motivator.

oh... my... God! In case someone DID take it, check all the local pawn shops regularly. Offer a better reward than they'd get for hocking it. GOd, I hope u find it.

Well, I am pretty sure I know who took it, and why. If I am right, this girl did this to me purely out of spite. She dislikes me for something that happened over a year ago, and I dislike her because she is a loudmouthed bitch.

She does not need the money; in fact she would not cross the street for the reward I can afford to offer. She would probably jsut as soon flush my ring down the toilet as turn it in.

OTOH, I am going to revise my poster tomorrow, adding a pic of the ring and pleading with everyone who worked Tuesday to PLEASE search their bags one more time. The manager told me she will pay the reward to anybody who hands her the ring and I can pay her back, so I will not know who took it.

It has been horribly slow at work this week, so I am hoping that will encourage the guilty party to claim the reward, but who knows.

Thanks again to all of you for being so supportive.

I feel so bad for you especially since you wore your ring with pride. Just when you think you can trust someone.... I befriended a girl and let her stay with me and when I couldn't handle her anymore we packed up her things in my car and took her to work. While she was unpacking, she stole a very precious gold Omega chain that my Mother gave me (irreplacable). That was two years ago and it still makes me sick. Why do people only steal things that are irreplacable? Does your club have cameras? I once went in and watched ove 4 hrs of tape to try and locate what happened to something stolen. Hopefully your story has a happy ending. I feel for you.

I feel terrible that so many people have been robbed this way...grrr. Even if the ring doesn't turn up, karma will get her if she took it. And most in the club can guess what happened & will watch their stuff around her.
I truly think she will wait several days or weeks to make you suffer, AND THEN the ring will pop up. So no one can point fingers and she got what she wanted. People suck sometimes. Hugs.......

You don't have cameras in your dressing room? This might be a good motivator to have mgmt install them.

As for what happened, I feel your pain hunny! If I lost my ring he would KILL me!

I take mine off to put me hose on too, but I always hold it in my teeth till I get them on. So if and when you get it back, you could try that from now on.

I hope it comes back soon!!!

Bella: It would be better if they didn't. I might accidentally run her down in the parking lot!!

kitana: No, we don't have cameras. Up until a few years ago, there was not even a dresing room. We just had to change in the laides' loo. That is even worse than it sounds wehn you consider that there is about a 2' x 4' space where 4 of us used to ahve to change at once!

Maxine: It occured to me that she might do something like that, too. I certainly hope so! We have had other instances of things going missing and then turning up weeks or even months later. It happened to me with a pair of boots about 10 months ago.

We have been having a crime wave in general among the dancers. 4 or 5 girls have had things stolen in the last two weeks. I keep hoping and I have been wearing an different ring on my left hand, one that he gave me wehn I was pregnant.

Kitana: That is a very good idea to keep the ring in my teeth. That is waht I will do from now on.
