    Default Take the job?

Hi everybody. I'm new here, and have never worked in an adult club (although I've been to three of them). Also, I'm a guy.
I have a friend who is a bar owner, and will be opening up an adult club in 2 to 3 months. He is renovating the building now, and putting in the couches, partitions, bar and kitchen areas.
Talking to him recently, he said 'Hey, would you want to work there?' So my question here is: What kind of jobs do guys do at a club? I've seen them as bouncers and DJ's, but I'm not 250 lbs and don't have a huge CD collection.
Working in an adult club sure sounds like it would be a fun second/weekend job, but is it really?
    Thanks for the advice.

Bouncers don't have to be huge. Being observant and stopping trouble before it starts is much more important. DJs just need to play music that won't completely bring the night to a screeching halt, and any decent club will load up its computer/CD shelves with enough music so the DJ is not responsible for bringing a lot in.

I don't know; do you need a job? Do you want to be up all night? It might be worth a shot. And if you quit after a couple of weeks, no one will be shocked because turnover is so high in this industry.

Actually some of the best bouncers I've met were small guys who were able to talk a guy down and not automatically resort to fighting.

My hunnie was a bouncer when we met. (That's kinda how I got into dancing --- long story, though). He took a year off between college and law school and did the whole bouncer thing. He could have made a LOT more money doing other stuff, but he liked the environment, and had been dating a stripper before we met.

He NEVER actually got into much of a scuffle with anyone. Occasionally, he'd have to escort someone out of the club by the elbow, but custys (even the bad ones) at Tiffany's were pretty docile. Once or twice, he'd see someone with a "bulge" under their coat (it was Phoenix -- apparently the hand-gun capital of the world) and would inform them that weapons were verboten. It never turned into a hassle.

Kicks, do you know how to bartend? Or maybe there will be a kitchen and you can be a cook. And you don't have to be huge to be a bouncer, but you do you have to exude confidence, attitude, and authority.

Thanks for the comments! I've got a regular, professional day job and this would be for fun and some extra vacation money. As I think about it, you are probably right about the size of the bouncers. Also an interesting idea about the cook; I hadn't thought about that.
Most places close here about 2am; there are some all nude clubs that advertise "open till at least 4am". After closing, how long does it take to close up the place and get out of there? I'm not too interested in going home when the sun is coming up!

One more question on this topic: are those types of jobs usually an $/hr type job, or is it more of a tip/commission style? I realize that this probably varies club-to-club but what is most typical??

The club is still being renovated and we haven't talked about specifics yet; I wanted some info so I can be at least a little bit informed when I talk to them next.

usually youll make minimum wage + tips from the dancers... id say on a Fri or Sat night shift each bouncer at my club will take home around $150-$200 in tips... here we usually tip each guy $5 and theres usually 40 or so dancers... you do the math
