    Default Forgetting Custys

Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm drug-free, I don't drink much, but for some reason I forget customers...
They come in and get offended that I don't remember them... I don't really feel bad as much as I'm concerned about the repeat customer factor.

I remember plenty, but there are just some that never make their mark in my memory...

I don't understand why they get offended though. I work in a dimly lit club with constant in and out customer flow, and I'm expected to remember everyone I meet?

Any advice on how to improve? I really don't think it's worth my while to memorize every name and face... nor do I even see it as remotely possible.

I'm just sick of people giving me shit because I don't remember them.

Maybe you should pretend you do remember them but say you forgot their names, do they remember yours? I often forget who I've just danced for and ask them again, let alone a few nights / weeks later.

When a customer comes into the club and I remember his name it's rare that he doesn't get at least one dance from me. There's tons of books on how improve your memory and/or remember people's names. Find one that has a method that works for you and work on it. I think you'll find it worth it.

Don't feel bad,you see a few hundred different people going through your club every time you work,it's is impossible to remember each and every one of them, especially their names (I always had a problem with this).I would make a point of remembering the names of the most regular ones, the better tippers. The rest of them,if you remember them by the face just say:"Hello,it's great to see you!",without mentioning any names and they will happy that you paid attention to them at all.

Don't worry about it. I've known dancers who can remember your name after meeting you once. Some can't...no big deal. If I really like a dancer & we get along, I can deal with her not remembering my name. If a customer becomes regular, you'll eventually remember. My current ATF took a while to remember my name. It was getting a bit awkward at times...I could tell she was a bit embarassed & calling me "honey" & "baby" because she couldn't remember. I would just make jokes about how could she forget her favorite customer's name.

Call everyone you don't remember HONEY or BABY or whatever you're comfortable with.

Say their name at least 3 times before you walk away. Three times will give you a chance to ask them some questions too, so use it to your advantage and at least get a dance out of 'em.

I wouldn't let it get you down. Something that has worked a little for me is repeating their names several times during the first time I meet them. For instance, If I ask their name then I keep saying it in the rest of the conversation. "Oh Kevin, that's a fitting name. So Kevin, are you from this area . . . . Wow, Your'e from Fremont! Well Kevin you must like hot weather. It's nothing like here overcast and 65. Do you also work in Fremont Kevin?" You get the idea.

I remember everyone, wish i could forget some though!

Only really be concerned about remembering their name if they spend a lot of cash. Relate their name to someone else or something else. For instance i have a customer named Jim, and i remember Jim's name because that is the same name as one of my cousin's.

You could always keep a lil notepad in your purse or locker. While sitting with said customer, excuse yourself for a moment and jot down little notes about him. Name, appearance, personality, spending habits, where he's from, any lil tidbits about himself he chats about (family, job, hobbies)...

I always tell guys I dance with, "Now when you caome back to see me; don't get mad if I forget your name." "I'm horrible with them and I have to check my driver's liscense every day to remember my own." "But I will remember your face."

I remember faces so well, but I couldn't tell you 1/2 of the names of the people I went to HS with right now if they were in front of me. And we only had a class of 98!

But I do always walk up to them ans say, "Hey where have you been? It's been a little while, have you been in lockdown? You bad boy!"

Which is kinda funny, since most of my repeats are professional, and they normally would not get thrown in jail. *Note*: This did backfire once, but I was able to turn it around.

I can't help you remember names, but faces I can help with.

LOL it's ok. I've known my Vegas ATF for almost 2 years now and she still doesn't know my name. She just calls me dude and now "her friend" She does remember where I am from though and that I usually go there with my buddy.

sorry for butting in (I'm a custy) - but some of us get kinda nervous when your memory is "too good". I'm not ashamed to go to the SC or anything, but it is something I'd rather keep private and do anonymously. Your excellent memory means we're not as invisible as we'd like to be.

I went to a club once, for the first time just to check it out. Then, I went back four months later, in the middle of the night - and the dancer remembered every little detail about me... name, town, everything. Yes, I was charmed about the customer service, but it sure made me think twice about revealing too much personal information during LD's.

It's really uh, dumb for a guy to get all bent outta shape over this. I mean, strippers see HOW many guys a week? Never phases me. In fact, unless i've met a girl many times i usually assume she won't remember me and the last thing i'll do is make an issue of it. I'm there to unwind, not give people shit.

    Bleah... Some guys are retards.

Yea I used to do that all the time. Cmon they have to know we see tons of guys a night and if they dont make a good impression on us they are going to be forgotten along the other with the guys.

I really try to say their name in a sentence or 2 when Im talking to them. Thats helped me alot but I still forget guys' names. I can understand if they are a regular yea Id want my name remembered too. But to some guy youll likely not dance for or see again...pffftt forgetta bout it.

I'm horrible at remembering custie names too.......
Quick trick is to use the name once or twice within minutes of meeting him ("Michael? Can I call you Mike?" "Joe, you're from Santa Cruz? I love that city!" Etc.)
Don't get all tore up about it. Often men use fake names in stripclubs AND think we're all ditzes, so they don't care. I could see a regular getting hurt but obviously enough cash will jog your memory.

i'm horrible at remembering names. I do remember faces, but it seems like i remember the custys that i didn't get along with. So then i look crazy b/c i'll go up to the guy that i flipped out on the week/day before, and i'll just start talking to them until i figure it out. Then i get so embarassed. I only have a few custys that i remember their name and that's fine with me. I don't need to know everyone's name.

Probably it's entirely unrealistic, but guys like to believe they've made enough impression on a woman they are attracted to that she'll remember their name. It's part of the fantsy. After several times in the room for a dance with a dancer you like, it is a bit more realistic to expect some recollection from her, but maybe not the name. But I'll bet customers who spend a little time with several dancers will NOT remember all of their names, especially if it is the first time.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

On the flip side of this thread, I didn't recognize my ATF a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't seen her in like 4 months and she had gotten a BA too. I thought it was some new hot dancer and she stood in front of me and asked "don't you recognize me?"

95% of the dancers that I've met don't remember my name for more than five minutes. My current favorite at least tried during our first series of dances...she was very obviously using my name in conversation in order to try to imprint it. I appreciated the effort, even though she'd forgotten it by my next visit two weeks later.

It just is not a big deal to me. I can't begin to imagine the numbers of men that dancers meet. I'm very happy when they remember my face. I had one favorite in Clearwater that I'd see maybe twice a year, but she'd always bolt across the room whenever she saw me with a big smile and a hug. This went on for five years. She never remembered my name, but she had the inside track to my wallet for remembering my face and her subsequent reaction.

I'm terrible with names. My technique is to approach everyone with a friendly "Hi how are you tonight?" You can usually guage from their reaction to that if they have met you before. Then if you can't remember their name you just call them sweetie or honey (my personal favorite that gets agiggle occasionally is "honeybuns") then if you really want t know thier name without being rude just ask another dancer or waitress to introduce themself and get his name while you 'go to the bathroom' or 'fix up you makeup'.
Works a treat so then you can come back and go "So Peter, did you want to go up for that dance now." Makes them feel special tha you remebered them after all that time. Yay!

This actually happened to me this past weekend. I recognised a guy from my first night and came over and started talking to him, and I remembered he'd been wearing a name patch on his shirt that said Jose. So I was calling him that and he got REALLY impressed. He spent much more money on me than is standard for that club, and then as we were chatting later I realized he was not the same guy. But he happened to have been there one night before, and his name happened to be Jose. Lucky me!
