Default That time of the month

It's about that time and I'm skipping work even though I really want to go. I'm expecting my period over the next couple of days and I can't think of any way to go in and dance since I work at an all-nude club. I've heard about those Instead cups but do they really work and not leak, and can you really not see them?

And what do you do when you're bloated? Is there a way of making it go away?

Or should I just plan on only working three weeks a month?

Instead's work wonderfully and they can not be seen. You just have to make sure to keep an eye on the time and keep up with how long you have had one "in".

Midol and water pills, diuretics make the bloat go away. Stay away from salt, caffeine those first few days.
Remember as well, liquor and alcohol thins the blood - so if you drink your flow will be heavier.

I worked on my period before (I don't get it anymore due to Depo), but when I did I just cut my tampon string.. I liked OB the best since it had such a thin string and I would just tuck it in just enough that it couldn't be seen, plus I never really danced with my legs spread for a long period of time.. I never had anyone say the could see the string.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

I think guys can smell you on your period like dogs smell other dogs in heat. Some kind of freaky odorless scent.
I know a girl who uses instead...sometimes the cup tips and blood can spill out. So its best to test drive those at home 1st to see if yours can stick in right.

I use OB with no applicator just like GG. Plus, in case a little blood leaks through I constantly wipe my area with baby wipes just to make sure.

But, if you have a really bad period where your cramps feel like youre being torn in half and your bleeding like youre dying - then no dont go to work just stay home and pamper yourself.

I've heard very little about Insteads but I have to ask.....

Can you have sex on your period with them?

I just worked this weekend on the rag for the first time. I tucked the tampon string, and no problems. We're a nude club too, but it was well hidden. Just don't do too much spreading if you're worried. I was worried about the bloat too (I gain like four pounds water weight with my period- yuck), but whatever difference in my appearance, it didn't affect my earnings any.

Apparently so. I was going to buy a box of them specifically for clean sex while on the rag but the directions said to not use Instead if you have an IUD...which I happen to have.

As far as working while on your period, I was a string tucker myself (nude club.) Most girls tuck or cut the string.

The clubs here are all-nude, and all the girls wear a tampon and just cut the string... it's hard not to be paranoid about leakage though- I do the baby-wipe thing too. I never worked on the first 2 days of my period anyway because I always feel so yucky.

I don't work the first day or two, (way to heavy flow) and I just tuck.

Eat fresh fruits, it seems to help me against the bloat.

the instead cup works for some people, but i hate it. my fingers are too short for my vagina apparently, and i can't ever seem to get it in the right position. it's uncomfortable and pushes on my bladder so i constantly have to pee, and it makes my cramps worse. plus, when i pop it in or pull it out, it snaps my cervix, which freaking hurts!! it works great for some women, but it's not gaurunteed. so get a small box to try it out. also, i can't ever seem to get it into close to the right position unless i'm lying on my back, so if you have short fingers too, try that.

I love the instead cups for the days that I'm just spotting. I don't wind up wearing a tampon that doesn't want to come out b/c its much drier up there than on heavy flow days. It doesn't leak at all on light days, just be sure to pull it out slowly, so as not to hurt your cervix. Also, there is no risk of toxic shock syndrome. Be sure to test it at home first on heavy days

AGHHH! NO!! I saw that someone had posted somewhere else that you can and it says not to on the box. I wouldn't because the outer ring is a harder plastic and it can push hard into your uterus. BAD BAD BAD. It can cause scarring.

I have actually found that the moon cup http://www.mooncup.co.uk/index.htm works better than Instead and it is something you can re-use and wash between periods.

Just some other BC info too:

Oh, and someone mentioned also about guys "smelling" when you have your period. I know it sounds gross but it is just the pheremones your body puts off during that time. It really draws the boys in!!

Actually, the instructions specifically say that YES you CAN have clean sex while wearing the Instead. Check the FAQ. Although it is NOT to be used as a contraceptive.

I can't comment on it hurting or scarring the uterus because I'm not a candidate for Instead.

I realize that it says that there. But on the box I have .... it says.... hahaha.... not to be used as a contraceptive. I guess to me that means that you shouldn't use it during sex. Thats what female condoms are used for.

I've had sex with my (now) wife was wearing one, now we don't even bother... and I don't mean with the cups.

She was also on the pill, but now she makes me wear hats now cause she thinks they made her boobies a little lumpy. I told her they are no different then the ones I grope at the bars, so its prolly ok

well, if you're on the pill or are in an otherwise fluid sharing relationship it's not a problem. it's not a contraceptive, but not all contraceptives are diaphragms. it shouldn't interfere at all with a male condom for example, or vcf or the patch or depo etc. etc..

I really think the Indtead cups are too big for me that's why I went to the mooncup.

I have a Keeper, which is like a Divacup or Mooncup, except gum rubber instead of silicone, and I love it to death. It's smaller than the Instead cups (which I tried and just didn't feel comfortable with), and reusable, so it's a money saver (once you get past the $35 initial cost) and I love thinking about what huge piles of bloody pads and tampons I'm NOT making.

I haven't started stripping yet, but I can't see why it wouldn't work wonderfully for that (as long as you monitor when it needs to be emptied).

Only drawbacks are 1. It takes about a cycle to get used to it, it feels very different than a tampon, because it sits lower in the canal, but once you get used to it, you WON'T feel it, 2. Along with getting comfortable with it, learning how to insert and empty it can be awkward and messy for a while, and 3. You can't have sex with it in.

Just another thought, I can't use a tampon without an applicator so I get the Kotex brand. I just cut the string out and you can put the tampon back in the applicator to insert it.
