Thumbs up I always knew prison was in my future!

    Ok,
wasn't sure if this was stripping general, (since it took place after work) but I AM A MAJOR FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no license, called in drunk driver in front of me, have to give my info, I get pulled over, they take pity since I was a good samaritan, find weed in my purse, outlook changes, cop drives me home, wants me to be "drug informant", I banter back and forth with him on the "how would this better me" bullshit, (all my buds love drugs, but no one is a dealer worth gettin' busted)
well, drug informant cop will be calling to "help" me thru my final decision, (easier charges on me, ya see!) and basically, my first drug offense, FUCK YOU!!!! BTW, I have a sister who's a judge in Madison, WI.

But, like I said, I'm a raging idiot, & don't ever help anyone! And, I'm a RAGING IDIOT! I'm gonna go smoke some pot now....

The 'wheels' of justice are usually covered with grease. I found myself in a similar situation once being pressured to become an 'ear' - fortunately the cops had absolutely nothing on me in the way of charges to use as leverage. I just happened to be working in a club where certain 'unlicensed pharmaceutical dealers' were regulars, and where by some strange coincidence a young guy was found murdered one night within a block of the club.

I hope that you can wriggle out of this 'gracefully' ... having a local judge in the family should definitely help. However, your name has undoubtedly been added to the local cops' 's#!t list', meaning that no matter how this turns out legally you're probably going to be the focus of extra attention for a while at least. Keep your chin up and your head down.

Thank you. I got a bit out of hand on my original post, with all my frustration and such. I woke up both my roomies for advice/consolation, and one of their dads is an ex cop, so I was able to get a little more imput. I don't think it'll turn out all that bad. I'm just a bit scared.

In RI any decent lawyer can get weed possession down to probation and a series of drug classes. No drug testing, either, so you can keep toking.

Well, the cop never issued me any sort of citation or a damn thing in writing! He drove me home! Isn't there something faulty with that, not quite following procedure, so I should have an advantage? Guess I'm grasping for whatever I can here...

He asked before he was about to drive me home if I had any weapons on me; I was already so frazzeled (second driving after rev) I handed him my purse (completely forgot about the pipe since I RARELY smoke it; let alone carry it on me) and was like, "no, check!" I react a little funny in stressful situations. Funny, ha ha.

Never, never carry anything drug related. Ever. I learned that by having a BONG fall out of my dufflebag in full view of god and everybody while getting on a bus from Houston to Saint Louis about ten years ago.

    Never, never, never...

    OH MEGAN!
I'm so sorry you had such a shitty night! I am pretty sure since the cop didn't give you anything in writing that you can't be held accountable for the pot. Did he give you the pipe back? If he didn't and still didn't give you a ticket you should be in the clear. I think if it happens to come back to bite you that you should plea bargin for a year probabtion and a deferred sentence (goes off your record) as long as you don't get in any trouble in that year. And since he drove you home I would make sure you don't have any other parephenalia at home... just in case he ever decided to show up and give you a ticket.

I do think it will all be okay if you didn't get a ticket. I had a minor run in with a cop once that thought I was on drugs because I wouldn't give him my name (he had no reason to talk to me- I was walking home). Instead he called an ambulance and sent me to the ER. I called the Chief of Police the next day and he said they couldn't write me a ticket for anything after the fact, the cop would have had to stay with me at the ER and give me the ticket. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU THO!!!

The best advice any of us can give you is to call a very good criminal defense attorney. Now. It will be the best money you have ever spent. Your lawyer (a good one, remember) will be your best friend through everything, and even better, will know what the hell s/he is talking about.

Your cop friends can probably give you a good referral.

Good luck, sweetheart. We are all pulling for you.

I agree. Too bad you're not in Tampa, I could tell you the name of a great one.

From personal experience, a small amount of weed in your possession will likely only result in probation and a mandatory drug class, perhaps a fine - at most - for a first offense. Those asshole cops just like to use the fact that you're scared and don't know what's gonna happen to pressure you into "helping them out".

When I got caught I said I'd gone with a friend to get the weed and the friend had gone in the house to make the buy. They dropped it right there.

As for my case, I happened to be in TX and they have a thing called deferred adjudication which is commonly used for first offenders. I got 6 months probation, had to attend a few drug offender classes and had to do a few hours community service. The deferred adjudication meant I got no conviction on my record. When I went to get my Las Vegas stripper license and they ran the background check, nothing came up.

I don't think you have much to worry about, especially considering you have a judge in the family. If the narc guy calls, just tell him some swill about how you don't really have a connection and that you'd gotten the stuff with a friend of a friend at a party one night, can't remember the dude's name and don't know who's house you were at, blah blah. They'll lose interest in you as an informant quickly.

Regarding Melonie's "shitlist" comment, you might consider trading cars and getting a new license plate, just so your current car/tags don't get you 'tagged'.

Situations will vary state to state. In Arizona, pot is a felony, in California it's only a misdemeanor. Most states it's a felony. So, the question is...did the cop take the pot/paraphenilia with him? If so, what they do is have to test it to confirm the sustance. Then they will file a "long form" and come and arrest you. You don't get a ticket at the time.

If its a small amount alot of cops will just dump it because it's such a pain in the ass to do the processing for such a little offense. Unfortunately, there's really no way of knowing.

Anyway, here in Arizona, I know, you would probably be charged and sentenced to unsupervised probation for one year.

Let's just say I know about this stuff.

I'm so glad I don't have these kind of problems! He did not wright you then he can't wright you now. You know he took it home and smoked it himself don't you? That kind of stuff happens around here all the time. I went to a hog roast put on by the sheriff for re-election and they served the beer they had confiscated in the last 2 months. Tell him you don't want to do it!

NEVER NEVER tell the cops shit. The people you give out will handle you much worse than the police. Please, I know you need to get out of this but why take down how many others for your mistake? Hire the best attorney money can buy who knows the prosecutor in your case and take care of it. You have rights too. Attorneys are trained to find flaws in cases. No matter what the cops promise you, don't be that naive as to think that giving 411 is going to help you. They'll say anything to get you to talk. Don't give up your Miranda Rights. DON'T SAY SHIT!!! Tell them to call your lawyer!!!!

If the cop took your personal info, kept your pipe, and drove you home, it sounds like a serious attempt will be made soon to pressure you to become an 'informant'. If the cop that took your pipe maintained the chain of evidence, you can still be charged with PCS at a later date even though no charges were made that night. This is probably how it will go down "you feed us info, and we won't charge you ... you blow us off, and we'll take you downtown and book you".

The others are correct that you need to hook up with a decent criminal attorney ASAP, if for no other reason than to 'break the momentum' by dropping a well known attorney's name if/when the above scenario unfolds.

You know it amazes me no one has said the most obvious advice: Don't break the law.

You had to have said something to the dispatcher to make them question your motives for calling in a drunk driver. I've called our states highway patrol and never even heard from them.

Consult an attorney. thats whats nice about them, confidentiality. I could tell them I shot ho chi min, sabrina, hitler, and the pope. And he would tell me, "unless you have been charged with anything, that'll be $150 for those 30 minutes"
