lol that's great. What i do with telemarketers is kinda mean. I'll tell them to hold on while i go get them, I'll set the phone in a quiet place and while walking aw.ay i yell really loudly "pick up the damn phone!!" i'll then go upstairs and pick up the extension and be very quiet. The longest someone stayed on the phone was 15 minutes, there was alot of sighing and "what the hell?", when they finally hung up they said "fuck this."

ahahahahaha it was too funny. My grandma used to do the 20 questions and it would drive them crazy. She'd start asking them personal questions and when they got upset she would say "good now you know how we feel" and would hang up.

Sometimes I just tell them that its not a good time for me to talk right now, then I ask them for their home number so I can call them back when its convienent for me.

I know people who do this for a living, that have to. Perhaps you're not in that situation or ever will be. I'm sure most of'em don't like the job, either, but it's a job in a time where they are fewer & further between & if it's a choice between eating & being annoying, I know which one it'd be for me.

i did telemarketing once. heheh if you really want to bug them, ask a lot of questions about what they are selling, act interested in buying, say how great the product seems and all. keep asking for more info when they try to close the deal, then finally just say "i dont think i am interested" and hang up.
it drove me nuts when i spent 30 minutes talking to someone who prolly had no intentions of buying in the first place!

I have zero tolerance for Telemarketers. The moment I hear people in the background, I just hang up. No mess no fuss.

I love it when telemarketers call me when I'm working (I don't have a home phone, just a cell). I'll walk up to the speaker in the club (sinse they all seem to call between noon and one when its empty) hold the phone up to the speaker before I hit the answer button

wow I just realized I need to get a life....

On top of telemarketers, now I'm getting calls from bill collectors for someone I've never even heard of. I approach them all the same. When they are done with their opening speech, I say "You sound hot tonight! What are ya wearing?" They usually hang up after a few more minutes of some deviated soul trying to talk them into sex by phone.

DirectTV is the worst... two months after I switched to Dish they sent me a bill, claimed I'd never cancelled my service.

I refuse to pay that bogus bill, I won't pay it no matter what it does to my credit.

That is getting pretty common. AOL is hard to cancel. infoworld.com had an article about how hard it is to cancel Spring Cell service. I have had to deal with it from magazines before.

I smell a new trend coming on.

How annoying is it that telemarketers call our CELL PHONES... I tell them to call back after 9 or on weekends when it wont be costing me 35 cents a MINUTE...

I play "Do you know how many violations of the telemarketing sales rule you have committed?"
I keep a book mark to the FTC rules shown under "Complying with the Telemarketing Sales Rule" at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menu-tmark.htm

and start going down the checklist of things they have to do to comply such as the requirement that they teach their employees the TSR. They usually hang up after the fifth violation is noted.

    Audrey,
Sign your cell phone up for the Donotcall list. One of the downsides of being able to move your phone number around from place to place is the telemarketers do not know what is a cellphone and a land line.
The link to it on the web is

Well yeah. So are politicians, hit men, and drug dealers.

Before I became accustomed to the relative peace of being on the Do Not Call list, I would simply let them jabber for about 15 seconds, hit the speakerphone button, turn up my computer speakers really loud, and play a nice medley of Looney Toons, South Park, and Beavis and Butthead WAV's.

    Sufferin' Succotash!!
Oh My God, They Killed Kenny!
Hey Butthead, he tried to touch my weiner!
What for you bury me in the cold, cold ground?
Screw you guys, I'm going home!!

9 times out of 10 i simply hang up, but if im in the right mood i act interested to let them do thier whole sales pitch.

Hey, its about a dozen less people they will be bothering today by wasting time on me

I dont really buy into that "thier just trying to make a living". I mean, of course they are just trying to pay thier bills and such, but i'd really appreciate it if they didnt do it by bothering me.
And when the daughter of Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.

Agreed... It would be one thing if they simply called... However, most of the time I try to be polite and just get off the phone nicely these people just don't take no for an answer. They want to keep going on and on. Not to mention I've had several companies call me way too much.

I forgot about the "Do Not Call" list... Thanks for the link I'm signing up now.

bella----exactly. they train you not to ever stop until the person hangs up, even if they say they are not interested, you are supposed to keep pushing.

    them: sorry im not interested
me: ok thanks have a good day!

    See I agree.
I am never mean to telemarketers except when being bothered by the same company consistantly
"Would you like to donate money to join the President for Dinner?"

    *Sigh*

I am always courtious, because these people are sometimes just trying to make a living or supplimenting their income etc etc etc. but lets face it

Its effing annoying, and they know it, and they knew it going into the job and they are trained to handle it. And we have all been aggrevated by it.

heheh my reply to dinner with the president:
"Why pay to not be heard?"
"Well, you could address your issues with him directly"
"You mean during the half-second hand shake?"
"Well if you caught his attention"
"Yea, cause overtly addressing the president is going to earn me anything but a Special Service Black Eye. Whats my money going to?"
"Many projects that do not get government funding"

It all went downhill from there.

I don't hate the president. I just doubt my money was getting me dinner across the table from him.

We are on the national do not call list as well as the one for our state.

We still get 5 or more calls EVERY day. Often the same companies too and plenty of automated ones as well.

    It drives me batty !

I have taken to using my dial up during the day just to avoid the tele-harssment calls .

Hey, at least they are trying to support themselves. A lot of these jobs don't pay shit, but it's better than being on welfare or whatever. Yeah, they're annoying, and if too persistent perhaps deserve a hang up. But to fuck with them...I don't know, it's not their fault that they're calling you, it's the company they work for. They're just trying to do a job.

TY, I agree^. If you're not interested, ask to be taken off their list & never called again, & ask they not sell your name to anyone else. It will not be 100%, but. I think it was mentioned about the do not call list. I know people who have to do this, b/c they can't find another job. The economy is bad, Katrina disaster, & war, etc., & they have families to feed.

i like to go into strip clubs and tell the dancers i want a lap dance but to come back in 15 minutes when im ready. then i sneak out the back door. now that i have your attention no one likes to be fucked with at there job weather its dancing or being a telemarketer. were all just trying to pay our bills. were all in the same boat. so for all you people that fuck with telemarketers think about how you like to be fucked with at your job.
