    Default The Lumberyard in Iowa

Anyone have any new info on this club. I heard the money was really good there but there are no recent threads. I'd like to know if it is worth traveling for.

Not sure if it is still worth traveling for, It is all nude on stage and t-bars in the dance room. THe fee is somewhere around 35 to work and $5 a dance in the room, good money on stage, you do a three stage set but with the 30 girls a shift you only go up twice a night. not many $1000 night anymore but still the best in the area.

C'mon Iowa girls, help her out.

I have been in the club but have not worked it. Some girls I worked with in small Iowa clubs said they do well on weekends there and at Big Earls, but of course some days and weeks are better than others.

One night I was in there and it was busy with a lot of dances being sold, (It was a Monday night) and another business was so so.

Another good club in Des Moines is Minx. They get a lot of middle aged customers and I was there on a Wednesday and a Friday and both nights had good business with 2 of 3 customers 40+. I smell money in there if you are a good floor worker.

You probably need to go there for a few weeks, working as much as possible to test the waters.

hey, it's me again still looking for information on this club. I heard that there is money to be made but it is about six hours from where I live so I'd would really appreciate anything about how money has been recently. Maybe if someone is curious about this club too we could go together that way it wouldn't be as scary to go alone and not know anyone.I swear I'm not a big fat hairy man- not that there's anything wrong with that.

Hi! I'm a newbie, I guess...you said in the last reply that you wanted someone to go look at the club with you, and if you're still interested in going, I'd like to check it out. I'm 19 and from Nebraska, and it seems like the Lumberyard might be my best bet around here. I've never danced before, but I'm willing to give it a shot. So...if you're still interested in tagging along with someone to look at the club and see how it is, I'm more than interested! Just let me know.

It is good enough there that three girls I know from here in Mpls moved to Des Moines to work at the LY. I was there a few months ago and the $$ was definitely good on the weekends. Stage $$ was excellent compared to other clubs I've been. There are three shifts. Last I heard they make you work two 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. shifts each week before they will let you work an evening. You can only work the one shift the first day (not very good $$), after the second 11-5 you can stay and work a double or triple if you want, and work the rest of the week any shifts you want. The first day sorta cuts into your earning potential if you are from out of town, so I have only gone back twice. Might be worth it though if you can set up to do a shift at another bar in the area the first day, I have been thinking of trying that to see how it goes. You have to either do the amatuer contest on Wed (not sure if specific Wed or just any Wed) or Audition on any Thurs. My friend and I auditioned on a Thurs and were hired, but they would not let us work that night, had to come in the next day and do the two 11-5's first. Another time, the mgr on duty let me work the first night, still had to do the day the next, then allowed me to work all that day also - so I guess it depends who's in charge when you are there. There are no schedules, so once you've been hired, you come whatever days you want, and if you want to leave a shift early, they will let you, for an additional $50 over shift fee and dance rent.

By the way, the club is large, clean and looks nice. Good sized dressing room, with a smaller non-smoking one. The dj's are great and so is the sound and light system. Could use better air conditioning though; by the end of the three stages, most of us were so drenched in sweat we look liked fresh out of the shower- that was Summer though - and hey, we had handfulls of money!!
The patrons are generally polite, and there to have a good time. Touching is allowed during lap dances, not the cookie though. "Dollar" dances on the floor, $25 lap dances in a (supervised) room downstairs. No VIP when I was there, but I believe they did start one.
The place is byob, but no hard liquor.

Hey Olivia, thought I'd let you know that many of the Yard dancers are now looking for greener pastures. Money's drying up ('tis the season) and management is really pissing 'em off. But, when hasn't that happened?

As for the smelling money in the Minx... you're right. That club is strictly managed. You need to work a set schedule and management is fine-happy. If you miss a scheduled shift for whatever reason, you are fined $200. If you wanna devote your life to dancing for a while and MAKE BANK, this is the place to go. I'd love to go back, but once you've left and worked at another club, they fine the shit outta you to return. And I'm talking anywhere from $1000-$3000, depending on their mood. And yes, girls pay it. The money's that good there.

MsQuinn ,do you know if you have to work a certain amount of days a week.I live out of town so I was looking for something a little more lenient when it came to the scheduling. But if the money is really good it's very tempting.Do you know anything else about the club? Also does anyone know the web address? I've looked and can't find it? THanks!!!

Lumberyard website is . I believe you have to work 2 day shifts to even get to work a night shifts. Day shifts suck, I hear. Please keep in mind that I haven't stepped foot in that club in over a year. However, I do keep in touch with girls who have been working there regularly.

    Lenient scheduling:

Beach Girls, . Kent is the manager.

Big Earl's Goldmine, no website that I know of. Tina is the manager. This club has a VIP room where you can make a lot of money FAST. 15 min = $200 (you keep $150). 30 min = $400 (you keep $300). 1 hour = $700 (you keep $525). VIP's aren't that common, but there will be some sold every night. You don't need many to make a good night for yourself. Be WARNED though - this club is high contact and I suspect some girls are higher contact than others. But then, that's true of every establishment. Still, this club has a "nasty factor" and a reputation. I work there now and it's burned me out faster than any other club. I'm there because I like Tina A LOT. She's a darn good manager and there aren't many in the industry.

If I were you, I'd call the Minx and see if you can work out a deal for a traveling girl. Mike is the manager. 515-266-2744. This club is my ATF.

I've been to Minx several times as a customer and it has good business. Over half of it's customers are 40+ which is ideal. I think that is a good choice.

I travel to dance in the Midwest and work bookings.

One piece of info. You don't need lenient scheduling. You need to STICK TO the schedule. I work Mon-Sat in one town on bookings and off to another town the next week for more of the same. I get to work on time every night and never miss days. For the life of me I don't unsderstand why it is so hard for some dancers to work a set schedule. Dancers can work an 8-5 office job Monday-Friday, and be on time, but can't keep to a schedule in a strip club. I'm sure the girls at Minx who got fined deserve those fines because they are flaky and lazy. If you are serious about money, you should consider going on the road for several weeks at a time and work a set 6 night per week schedule. Then you will have money when you go back home. a weekly rate room should cost you $225-$300 in the area. There are also some other clubs where you can work weekly paid bookings. Ossy's in Carroll Iowa, and Touch of Class in Ft. Dodge. They pay $350 a week base pay, so you should be able to make $1500 or so for the week and get a room for under $250.

Anyone have news on how things are in Des Moines lately? Didn't go back to the LY as last I heard from my friends things weren't well ($$ drying up, as stated earlier), with the 2 day shift first, req., didn't sound worth the trip. Has anything changed? Also has anyone been to the other clubs there recently? If so, pls tell me about how it is. The reviews on the review board are all old.

I prefer mid-tier clubs, fit in best at those types. I do well with the "working class" guys.
I'm older (look young but still at the least late 20's) and probably be considered around a 7 by most, though maybe not by the white collars that like super young, tall tan & blonde, fake titty types. I am all natural, 5'3", 119#, med length hair. No extras, but can put up with the med-low two way touching that seems the norm in Des Moines.

Anyone know of a good fit for me? Only would want to travel for a few days at most. Live in Mpls. Need a break from here, but can't stay gone for long, my kitties get lonely.

    Thanks.

Ok stay out of Ozzy's they fine the hell out of you. Boji Nights in Spirit Lake offers a $400 base and housing. Money is good right now if you hustle but in the summer its even better. Base drops to $250 in the summer just because the money is really good. Its a small club and you have to cover your nipples but its a great place to work. She runs 3-4 girls during the winter and around 6 in the summer. The owner is a good friend of mine and just asks that you send me a few pics and your info. We had a few unattractive girls come in today to see about dancing so she wants to see what you look like before she books you. You girls should know how it goes. There is no audition, new girls are welcome as long as you look cute. No huge stage fees either. $10 tip out Monday-Thursday and $20 Friday and Saturday. Right now its open 6 days a week but memorial day weekend starts 7 days. We have a lot of fun here.
