    Exclamation need help!

*Mods-not sure if this is where i should have posted it, but since it was music-related i put it here.*

Alright, I am switching computers and I have quite alot of music on my laptop but need to somehow get all the music onto a disk to get it to a different computer. I have no idea how to do this! I really don't want to lose all the music i have since it took so long to get...

    any ideas?

Probably the best thing for you to do is buy either an external hard drive or USB flash drive, depending on how many music files you have. If you have Windows XP or 2000, when you plug in your drive through the USB port, your operating system will recognize the device as basically another hard drive. You can drag and drop your music files there. When you transfer them all, just plug the device into your new PC and drag and drop you files to which ever folder you want them in.
You can pick up a 1GB USB flash drive for ~$50, but if you need more space and would like the option of backing up your pc, you can get a 120GB external hard drive for ~$100.

If you know how, or have someone to help you, network the 2 computers together and transfer it that way. If not you can set the old one up as a [email protected] server and transfer it that way over the internet. They also make a cable system to do file transfers though I could never get it to work. You can burn the files onto CD's but that is going to take alot I assume and is going to take forever. The external harddrive is great, I have a few I use as backups, etc. They are really nice, small and you can even get harddrives that work of USB power now. Hope this helps.

I agree with the external HD idea. They're relatively cheap now, and it leaves free space on your computer anyway. A thumbdrive is also a great idea if you don't have more than 1gb of tunes on there. Go for the external, you can use it for all sorts of things without mucking up your new PC and slowing it down.
