It didn't creep me out. It bored me. I don't want to give much away, but i'll tell you this though...there aren't enough creepy scenes.

    It's only a PG13, that could be a factor.

Most reviews I've seen said it was just "ok." I don't know that I'll even waste my time...or money...

I hear it's more about the courtroom drama than actual possession. I'll probably skip it. The tape played in the promo freaked me out enough.

I think the scary thing for most folks is that it's based on actual events...
The story is based on the events surrounding Anneliese Michel's possesion and exorcism. You can read about it here: Click Me!

    Little preview:

"She refused to eat because the demons would not allow it. Anneliese slept on the stone floor, ate spiders, flies, and coal, and even began drinking her own urine. She could be heard screaming throughout the house for hours while breaking crucifixes, destroying paintings of Jesus, and pulling apart rosaries. Anneliese began committing acts of self-mutilation at this time, and the act of tearing off her clothes and urinating on the floor became commonplace."

"For several weeks, Anneliese denied all food. Her knees ruptured due to the 600 genuflections she performed obsessively during the daily exorcism."

I thought it was pretty creepy and I liked it a lot. The courtroom drama aspect of this movie was intresting and made the movie seem more beleivable to me.

My date and I left it after about 45 minutes after it started. The scary scenes weren't impressive or frequent enough to keep our attention. It was pretty boring. Well acted, just very boring.

I liked it, but I have weird taste in stuff. It wasn't graphic, or gory though, because it was PG-13.

I want to see it and I still probably will. I know it says based on true events but it doesn't seem believable to me.

I liked the movie, particularly because it did not try to compete with the Exorcist and did not throw in ridiculous amounts of gore which is the modern replacement for true horror.

The movie was intended to depict the courtroom battle, which it did pretty well. If you want to see how a court case surrounding a logical conflict between medical and religious treatment of a person afflicted in this way, then you may like this movie.

With this movie being based on actual events, you have to evaluate it as such. After seeing Sirona's link to the real story, it's kind of sad to see how Hollywood waters down the story and changes it. The fact that Anneliese's parents were implicated which was not in the movie is an unfortunate omission. I would also have to say that this movie did not do justice to a story that was eight years long where there was a long political struggle to even get the exorcism done. Well, that's Hollywood for you.

    >>>Sad<<<

I don't know how people can watch this stuff. I'm a full-grown adult, and this just scares the hell out of me...I wouldn't be able to sleep for a week (hence, I won't go see it). I just cannot imagine letting a 14 year old go see it.

I know this thread is old and I know this movie is old but I just watched it and im pretty freaked out. I wonder if I will be able to sleep since I get paranoid all the time about something watching me and something happening to me.

Hehehe I ended up buying it at blockbuster for 5 bucks. I like the part where she's all contorted on her bedroom floor.
