    Default Getting Skinny...

    Hi Everyone!
Ok, here's my deal. I am 5'7 currently 135 lbs. A few months ago I was 120, but at that time I was super dieting and working out cardio 1hr/day, 6days/wk, plus toning exercises. I got so burnt out and gave in, I stopped working out pretty much altogether and stopped dieting. I haven't been eating horribly or anything, and have started working out moderately again.

It's so annoying to have been in a size three-five, and now I'm back in a size nine(pants) ! I want to drop the first ten pouds quickly, I don't want to use drugs, but am open to diet pills, crazy diets that have worked or you, anything! Please don't criticize my wanting to get that thin, I just need advice on how to do it! Thanks!

This has me a bit puzzled. I'm only 5'3 and I weigh 110lbs and I'm a size 4-5. I'm underweight and trying to gain... I -should- be 125lbs. For being as tall as you are, 135 should be VERY thin. How is it you're wearing such a large size?

That's what I don't get... I think it's just that I am holding all my weight in my lower tummy, hips and I regained a little bit of my saddlebags, lol, so that makes my pant size big. I can wear a size 7, but not as comfy as a size 9! Keep in mind that most of your celebs that are 5'7 are weighing in at about 125lbs., so it's not that I'm really heavy, but just enough that my clothes don't hang the way I like them too.

Bone structure...size also depends on a person having a small, medium, or large frame. If one is tall they might be 'wider' but still be thin...I hope that makes sense?

i'm between 5'5-5'7, everytime i get measured by a different person, it's a different measurement. so anyways. i look alot taller than what i am. i weigh 136. but when people try to guess my weight they say anywhere from 105-115. i also wear a size nine in pants. i have a wider frame though and alot of muscle. you probly have lots of muscle too allie, even if you're not working out as much. when i was in the army i was 146 but i didn't look that much bigger than i do now. i need to post a pic up here. still trying to figure that out.

I think frame and shape have alot to answer for. I don't think anyone should nessesarilly be anything in regards to height and weight ratio. I'm also 5"3, but 98 pounds (been the same size, height and weight since 1982/3 - eat like 3 horses and do not have an eating disorder before anyone speculates on this...). I'm AU size 8 yet I got given this pair of size 8 denim hotpants last year that I just could not get over my hips! I gave them to a co-worker who is taller, bigger and heavier than me AU size 12 who could wear them no problem. We were laughing about it, it doesn't make sense!

How quickly? The fastest semi-healthy way I can think of is Atkins.

Okay, off-topic, but Paige you are so pretty. I'd love to weigh 110. I weigh 115 I think.

For the clothes sizes, it depends on the brand and the cut. I hate the different sizes.

Yeah...I'm just confused, like I have a "small frame" but I do have alot of muscle, even when it's not toned...like if I'm not working out, and have a little pudge on top of my muscle, it still feels rock solid underneath, I just have to burn off the pudge to look pretty good. my regular measurements tend to be 35-25-36...

Maybe she is talking junior sizes. I wear a 7 in juniors and like a 2 in womans. So there is a big difference from juniors to misses or womans.

Haha, I am 5'6", 136, medium frame, and I'm a size 9 (7 in dresses sometimes). It all depends on how you carry your weight!

In response to what Althena wrote, people always tell me that starving yourself doesn't make you skinny. And I'm thinking- yeah sure what about the anorexic women out there.

I'm 5'6 3/4 and I'm also 135-140 and wear size 9 in jr sizes and 8 in women's. I've always been around this weigh though. When i was a cheerleader in HS I weighed up to 142 but i had more muscle then. I want to lose a little weight just so clothes fit better and i also know i overeat at times but everyone thinks of me as "small" in way.

my weight stays the same unless i gain muscle. i eat like a pig. but i eat fairly healthy and i drink nothing but milk and water. i'd rather be 100 pounds over weight than 20 pounds underweight. and that's the truth. i don't think too skinny is attractive on anyone.

Yes Underestimated... I'm thinkin along your line....raw is the best all around for everything...but it is extremely difficult to just jump into all at once. I personally like to do a macrobiotics diet at least once a year to cleanse my body...I always feel SUPER GREAT when I'm eating like that (I basically eat rice, beans, vegetables, and tofu or chicken for most of my meals for a few weeks) sounds boring but I actually start craving it after a day or two of eating it...just like you crave the junk food if thats all you ever give your body. It's like this...your body gets hungry, which your mind recognizes as hunger , then your mind tells it what to be hungry for depending on what it is used to being fed.

Oh yeah and I always lose weight when I do it, last time was 3 months after I had my baby; delivered via c-section too; and I lost 22 lbs in 3 weeks. I didn't mean to lose any weight I was just doing a detox to rid my body of the chemicals that they put in me during my surgery and postpartum. I dont even usually take tylenol, I prefer to listen to my body rather than ignore it

If you want to lose weight quickly and easily I would cut the dairy and sugar out of your diet as much as possibly (all of it is best since the more you give your body of these things, the more your body will crave them-THIS IS TRUE!)

PS the Atkins diet is a fad diet based on "part of the concept" behind "Candida Control" And the concept of candida control has alot to do with cutting the sugar and dairy out of your diet and limiting your carbs

PSS carbs are essential for a healthy digestive tract...those that eat a strictly protein diet are advised by health professionals to have their colon cleansed at least once a year. If you eat meat at all you should have this done since meat doesn't move through the intestines as easily as vegetables. its a fact that people have been found to have meat stuck in the intestines for years after they ate it!!! No kidding! I am a meateater and I love it! but too much of anything is not good and it never hurts to get a little colon irrigation now and then LOL!

I found this website that covers some basics on candida control (. I also own the book "Candida Control Cookbook" and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to put an end to their own:
fatigue, sugar cravings, bloating feelings, abdominal pain, yeast infections, chafing of skin on inside of thighs, acne, cysts, feeling older than you are, feeling depressed, white coating on tongue, and many other things that candida albicans affects.

Eat lots of protein and LIFT WEIGHTS! You won't get bulky, women don't have enough testosterone to get bulky, and improving muscle growth means your metabolism shoots way up, which means you drop fat.

I've been on going to the gym 3x/week and lifting weights (dumbbells and machine) for a workout followed by only 20 min. cardio (doing squats, pushups and crunches the days I don't go in) for the last two weeks -- I'm ALREADY starting to show less flab.

See this wonderful website for details on how this works and why you should do it.

Oh, and I've heard that too much cardio without enough dietary protein sabotages your muscle tissue -- meaning your metabolism goes way down.

Fat also weighs lots less than muscle.

I'm 5'4" and around 123-125. I wear a size 3 jeans, and some brands a 1. A girl I work with is my height, but she is 10 lbs heavier and wears anywhere from a 10 to a 12. (She's a bartender, not a dancer.)

But I have a lot of muscle. She might have more fat than muscle.

i dont know if you drink alcohol, but when ever i stop drinking for a week or two i lose 5 pounds, regardless of how healthy im eating other wise. i am naturaly very thin, but if you burn calories slower you might notice an even bigger effect. i have a friend who quit drinking and lost 15 lbs.

This is SO true. Aside from the extra calories that alcohol puts into the body, it also slows down the body's ability to burn fat, no matter how much you are working out. Anyone I've known who has stopped drinking, myself included, has lost *at least* 5-10 lbs without doing anything else. If you consider on the nights you drink that you have 4 glasses of wine (or whatever), at 120 calories (or more) each, that is 480 calories. Times that by 3 or 4 times a week and that is 1350 - 1980 additional calories each week. Thats at least a 2-5 lb gain each month!

ALSO, people who are drinking often eat foods they woudn't ordinarily eat b/c their inhibitions are lowered, and that often means indulging on fatty/fried/high calorie foods that we would often never eat. This almost always happened to me when I was drinking. Almost always!

Just my two cents, but I can definately vouch that every time I stop drinking the weight really does come off quickly. Add to that exercise, weight lifting, etc., and you'll see results.

i've actually been avoiding a bottle of vanilla vodka in the freezer for about three months now, at first I thought I was PG so I stopped all alcohol, then I got my lovely period, and decided if I'm not having a baby to start dieting again!
