    Celebrities/Former Dancers

I know there are a few celebrities who are former dancers, like Trina (the gorgeous female rapper from FL) and Anna Nicole Smith... do ya'll know of any more? Just curious... I am an aspiring singer myself, and I think being a dancer would be a great way to develop better stage presence. Also, I think of dancers as celebrities in their own right... who else, other than famous people and dancers, get paid to spend time with people... who else has people who would give their right arm just to touch them one time, etc.? I think I could take the knowledge/skills I'd learn as a dancer and apply them to certain aspects of my singing career... What do ya'll think? Is that completely silly of me?

I understand that in the mid-sixties, Goldie Hawn did some go-go dancing in New Jersey clubs to make ends meet while she was a young dancer/actress in New York. (I think she discusses it a bit in her recent autobiography; other books about her have touched upon it, too.) Of course, go-go dancing circa 1965 was a far cry from erotic dancing in 2005, but there were still similarities to today's craft. And for someone a few months from turning 60, Goldie still looks wonderful...and I'm sure her dance training has been a major factor.

Former strippers- Courtney Love and rapper Eve.

I think a lot don't want to cop to it. Stigma attached.

Goldie Hawn talked on Letterman about being a gogo dancer in the 60s when she was a struggling actress. There was a female singing group in the 60s who'd also been gogo dancers (can't remember the name right now, 3 white girls tho) - on a show about them, their former manager (I think) talked about how their stage presence was so much better than alot of the other girl groups at the time, which he attributed to their having been gogos.

I can't think of any others right now...

Goldie Hawn was a go-go dancer on TV: 'Laugh In'

I would presume that was one of her first gigs.

Blondie (singer/"front woman" for a rock group of the same name in the 1980's) was a Playboy Bunny before going into show biz, which wasn't stripping but was viewed much the same way. (And a LOT of the bunny's were featured in magazine pics every month.)

Kelsey Grammar's former wife Leigh Anne Cushany was a stripper.

"Apprentise" this season features a contestant named Alla Wartenberg, who stripped in the past under the names Alla Kosova and Extacy.

Dr. Katherine Frank, now an anthropology professor at Sweet Briar College outside of Charlottesville, Va., said she began strip dancing around 1995 when she was a graduate student at Duke University. She's quite open about it.

And just to be fair to the men, Chuck Kalogianis, age 39, is a congressional candidate in Massachusettes who admits that he was a male stripper with the "Men in Motion" review over a decade ago while he was a law student.

    Madonna.

Although, I don't think she ever stopped.
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

Yes, Maya Angelou. I saw her in an interview where she said "Actually, I wasn't really a stripper because I only came out in a few sequins and a feather so there wasn't much to strip!"
