    Exclamation Scars??

I have been thinking of SERIOUSLY dancing (ive only done a few amateur nights a couple years ago)

since last time i danced, ive gotten a bit more fit (dropped about 25 pounds.. worked on toning) so i know i can still look hott as hell..

    but..
since my last dance Ive attempted suicide a few times (dont ask.. and yes.. im ok now) and done some other forms of self injury.. so i have scars all over my wrists and a few on my chest (little round cigarette burn looking things) and one very noticable one on my leg.

would this just bee too creepy for most customers?

first of all i hope your doing ok right now... depression is a tough thing to go through as im going through it right now.... as far as covering up your scars, you should get some really good coverup to hide them... but then again it depends on how noticeable they are... if people do ask about them and it makes you feel uncomfortable i would simply say that you were involved in an accident..... i wouldn't worry too much anyways just because its going to be so dark inside.... if people are really judging you by a few scars here and there on your body than they're not worth the time of day.

First and foremost, I'm glad to know your feeling better now. I had some suicidal thoughts when I was a teenager and I know how scary it is to go through. As far as your scars are concerned, I am empathetic with that as well.

I have a many scars on my body. Surgical scars, lots of burns, one on my wrist from a car accident, a c-section scar, and my most hated one is right between my boobies which looks like a cigarette burn too. As far as cosmetics, Dermablend and Sally Hansens "Airbrush Legs" works well to blend the color of the good skin with the scar. Now, I have ALWAYS been concerned about my scar on my chest in the SC. Yes, it's dark and most of the time custies won't notice or don't care but I've been afraid it would inhibit me getting hired somewhere. So far it hasn't though. The biggest problem with it is that I am self-concious about it, so I think that prolly rubs off sometimes.

I've seen a dermatologist and there isn't anything I can do to improve the scar on my chest. I've thought about getting a tattoo over it. While I know this would make me feel better about myself, I am afraid it would hurt my earning/hiring potential more than the scar itself.

There are also LOTS of threads you can search here for some good advice.

Well. What you can do is get perm makeup over the scar if it is discolored to make it less noticeable.

I had a friend do that, and it looked much better

there are products out there that can help you cover up a whole range of things..

dermablend is a great one that i know of that covers pretty much anything just depending how deep the scars are..

I have about 4 scars. They faded over time and are barely noticeable, even the burns. Some ideas:

~sexy lace gloves that leave your hands free but cover the wrist
~vit. E is supposed to help fade scars
~get tattoos to cover the scars

I think if the rest of you looks happy and healthy, no one will be creeped out.

Yes Sirena I agree with you! I also have scars too even one on my wrist that very much looks like an attempted suicide. Attitude is everything!!! I also have some other input I would like to include, hope it helps! It (the book) helped me more than anything else that I have ever found, no matter what the problem is!

The statements below that are within quotes are taken from a book called Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It is the best book I have ever read! Period. (those words that are not within quotes are my words/thoughts and summaries of the book, etc.) all material below is taken from the book called Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill either directed quoted or summarized in my words to shorten up the typing.

"Sex desire is the most powerful of human desires. When driven by this desire, men develop keeness of imagination, courage, will-power, persistence, and creative ability unknown to them at other times. So strong and impelling is the desire for sexual contact that men freely run the risk of life and reputation to indulge it."

This is where Sex transmutation comes in. The word transmute means "the changing, or transferring of one element, or form of energy, into another". And Sex transmutation means "the switching of thoughts of physical expression, to thoughts of some other nature".

Basically means that by learning to use your sex energy towards other things you will learn how to tap into your greatest source of Power.

For more info read the entire book "Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill" the softcover is marked at $7.50

To Althena, I'm glad you're not depressed anymore. Depression pretty much messed up my life, and to anyone who's a survivor I say you go girl!!! And i'm sure concealer will do wonders for you. I had a bust zit on the inside of my right thigh the very night i was supposed to audition! It was harder for me because it's hard to find concealer for black women. But I did, and the funny thing was when i got up there, it was so dark and the blue light was so flattering that the scar was the last thing on my mind (or the guys hollering and tipping me, i might add). Concealer, and Vitamin E and Cocoa Butter to heal and fade them in the long run. Maybe some Hydroquinone cream, but be careful with that stuff - it's powerful!

this post goes along with my post above. I have been telling everyone about this book (Think & Grow Rich) since I started reading it 3 weeks ago (and finished it in 2 days, pretty good for having a baby and part time job, it's a short book but I also couldn't put it down)

anyway my girlfriend said she did a search on google and found that you can now download it FREE as an ebook. F***ing Awesome!

I guess you can also buy it on audio CD. It was originally published in 1938 or right around there, my copy is in the other room. And something I have noticed is that the concepts in the book are used in many other books (I'm a bookworm, used to read 1 a day before I had my baby)

    anyway enjoy!

Tanning will camouflage your scars.I have an eight inch scar from hip surgery and tanning has helped me.

glad you're feeling better too. i think it depends on how obvious your scars are. like i cut occasionally with pens and pencils.i went like 7-8 months then cut about a month and a half ago again (haven't done it since though). but my scars are pretty small and unless you're staring at my wrist not too noticible imo...

be careful, anala..... as an experienced cutter i can tell you pens and pencils are way up there on tools likely to give you an infection..... and if you don't irrigate the ink out, you'll end up tattooing yourself.

    for scars-
if the scar is lighter colored than the rest of the skin, use a concealer meant to completely cover, not minimize, in your skin tone. then top it with translucent powder in your skintone, and spray it with aerosol hair spray (seriously) and it won't rub off.

if the scar is red or pink, use a green tinted concealer only on the scar itself, then cover it and the surrounding area with a cream foundation in your skin tone, then proceed to the powder and hair spray.

    hope this helps.

Just want to say I'm glad I'm not the only one out there...I was an SI-er as a teen and have been wondering that too as I step into the industry.
Lola Lee, I also have a scar right between my breasts. I hate that fucker.

I glad that you are doing much better, I had to have a limp taken out of each of my breast and it left two scars. While the scar on my left breast was trying to heal from the liquid bandage I started skecth it and it started to open the other scar on my right breast is gone but for the left I had to get some coco butter and e-sarum and I'm glad to it work wonders. Try it , I'm glad I did.

Just my opinion, but if the whole make-up tricks & black lights don't work, you could always look into costumes with detatched sleeves/ arm coverings, and wrist bands you won't have to take off. That way it's a whole outta sight outta mind thing and you won't have to worry about it at all. I can't think of any fullnude clubs that would object to that, and it may even attract some customer attention since you could stand out as the only girl getting nude (as far as the bits the customers want to see) and still wearing something.

I have a suggestion for the scars on your wrist. Depending on how you cut them, if they are vertical you can say you've had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. I have a family member who has had that surgery, and the scars are vertical from the bottom of the hand down to the wrist. There are so many cute things you can put around your wrists (that would look good w/outfits) but if anyone gets a good look you can just blame it on carpal tunnel.
