    Angry pissed about current affair

Anyone see A Current Affair today? They had a segment about Method Man's new documentary. It's called "The Strip Game" and it follows strippers through their everyday life and at their work. I have no problem with this movie, i actually wanna see it.

but i am soooo pissed at a Current Affair and their attitude towards strippers. it seemed like everytime they said the word "stripper" they said it like it was a disgusting word. They even said something like "find out what makes strippers strip." or something like that.

why in the hell do they do that? I don't understand why society can get off of our asses! Why can't they understand that maybe just freakin maybe we like to dance! We like the freedom, the power, and of course the money.

rawr! i'm just so pissed off right now. think i'm gonna email those jerks @ a current affair.

Sadly, shows like CA playing to the predjucies of insecure and prudish viewers is good for their ratings. A lot of women's magazines keep their subscribers in much the same way.

Worse yet, is when some dancers will go on these shows and play the stereotype to the camera for sake of making a few bucks.

The media treats us like we're a different species. They always emphasize the word "STRIPPER" like their talking about men on the moon. It's okay though, their just jealous anyway.

No. For cartoons, I prefer the Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.

I made a thread about this about a month ago.....

OK, I was REALLY bored so I decided to check out this documentary called The Strip Game. It was ok, really didn't show anything I haven't seen before, but I like watching these kinds of things being a former dancer. It's not one I'd highly recommend, but it was interesting enough.

Method Man Talks 'The Strip Game' DVD
    By Erin Whitlock

Rapper/actor Method Man has released a DVD on the underworld of strip clubs, titled The Strip Game, under Lions Gate Entertainment.
The documentary features a candid account with the culture and the girls who work within the industry.

“The reason I wanted to do this was to enlighten people more,” Method Man told AllHipHop.com. “I never looked at the girls in any kind of light.”

Rather than watching 72 minutes of nudity one would expect by the name and subject matter, Method Man said he wanted to show the stories of the girls, the people close to them and what drove their career choices.

“There are some girls that are really money hungry and don’t even work in the strip clubs,” Meth said. “And there are some girls that genuinely have a plan; this is their plan B because their Plan A didn’t work out, and their Plan C is to take that money and go to school with it.”

The story line digs deep into the hustling side of the profession and tells a story rarely heard.

While there is a story well beyond the surface, the novice filmmaker does admit to slipping in the occasional action scenes for viewers.

“Yeah I’m telling real stories, but if you pick up a documentary on strippers, you’re going to want to see some stripping, so we definitely got that in there,” he said. “But the girls with the most personality, the ones who had a brain in their heads, we followed them in their everyday life and that’s how the documentary kind of wrote itself.”

I always laugh & joke about strippers on TV, in a GOOD way (my cousin called nudity for pay "disgusting"- that's an example of my family's attitudes.) I feel that for us dancers to get back to where we were making more money, strippers have to be "forbidden".. (One dancer I knew was a stripper in the early 1980s...back when it was different...that's a quote from her. She said the money was so much better when custies were getting an illict thrill out of going to a SC.)
Ok long answer, but you have to keep that in mind when you see straight people talking about SCs.

    Madmax:

Your friend is right. As someone who came upon the stripping industry in the late 80's.. money was much better and strippers forbidden, although in L.A., being a stripper actually meant you had some status of somesort depending on the club you worked at....

I wish money was the way it used to be..

Stereotyping piss me off.... i'm asian and i'm tall (6'), great driver and barely got through college. I do have to say behind every stereotype there is some truth but that's not who you are so don't let it get to you.

I'm surprised the media is just airing a story about it now, it's been out for a while. And it is the lamest documentary about strippers I've ever seen. Don't let the media bug ya', they just try to stir shit up for ratings.

That made me giggle! I'm half Asian and I suck at driving. I always say I'm genetically predispositioned to driving poorly.

Anyway, my club does a charity golf tournament and ski trip every year and it gets more and more difficult to find worthy causes that will accept our money because everyone's afraid of what the media might do if they catch wind of it.

We raise A LOT of $$$. This year the golf tournament alone raised almost $40,000 and popular charities (like children's causes and hospitals) won't touch the cash with a ten foot pole.

One girl in my club is orginizing a blood drive. There's over 25 employees of the club who've signed up to donate, more than enough for the blood bank to come to us and collect at the club, but they won't because of possible negative public attention.

The great and honorable things that gentlemen's clubs and entertainers do usually on unnoticed because of stupid stereotypes and stigmas. The most frustating thing is that the public won't let us prove how wrong they are.

I'll get off my soapbox now...

One thing I thikn I noticed about the current affair document was after Method Man talked about getting his money for it sometimes.... the host made a sarastic about not getting the moeny from him... or was the hst talking about the second college documentary that method was going to put out?
Another thing, while it is cool that Method man sheds some light on the girls who are working towards school and stuf,f.... it seems like that is the only way outsiders justify it as being acceptable.
Yes it is great to get an education... but what if one decides to keep dancing after they get a degree... will it be less acceptable? Can this job ever be talked about without stressing the fact that these woman are doing it for another common goal?

I don't know if that would help. I imagine that the'd just say, "here's an email from an angry stripper", with suitably disgusted intonations.
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"
