Cheap places to stay in Chicago?

    Hey,
Im going to be travelling to Chicago from the 21st to the 25th of this month and am going on a bit of a budget.
Does anyone know of any cheap motels/hotels in the city?

I don't care how ghetto the hotel is as long as it is in the city and has a a bed and a bathroom. I am having zero luck looking up places online. It's so frustrating.
So...I just thought I would ask here since I know some of you are quite familiar with chicago.

If anyone has any advice on where to stay, or names of motels, or anything, I would so very much appreciate it.

    Thanks

If you have a car, the 'motels' on Mannhiem Road south of Ohare Airport or along Lincoln Ave north of the city. Note: some of these joints rent by the hour, I believe. My advice would be to spend the extra money for safety, especially if you are traveling slo.

Try priceline.com, my wife uses it and we never pay over $50.00 a night in Chicago.

There is one I always recommend & have had friends/relatives stay @, Excel Inn, on Milwaukee Ave, in Prospect Hts, IL. It's just a jump off expressway to the city, very clean/safe/affordable. but "plain", altho it does have a "complimentary continental breakfast". It's also right next door to a Denny's & Burger King
. Be sure to book ahead, it gets filled fast. I would be very cautious about the Manheim street ones, C>E> reccommends. If you can't get Excell, try Best Western, in the towns of Elk Grove Village, or Des Plaines. I would avoid the city of Chicago itself, only cause the prices are too damn high. If you're having probs, PM me & I'll look into more choices, or if I come up w/ any of above #, I'll just post 'em.

Well, found a hotel on clark street. It cost a bit more than I would have liked to have payed but it is in a great location, And now I won't have the stress of driving around searching for a hotel in the dark when i get there.

What's the weather like right now?
Is it really cold already? I packed a few sweaters and a coat just in case because I know it's usually freezing at night.
As long as it's not raining....I hate the rain.

And what club's other than VIP's are worth visiting?

Thank you to everyone who responded

I am not really that familiar with hotels and such, but if you want to PM me and tell me what area you may be in, I can try to help you out. At the very least, I can tell you what neighborhoods NOT to go by. I am really familiar with the south / southwest side / downtown / west loop / south, southwest & northwest burbs. Or you can just do the priceline or orbitz thing. Those are usually good. However, I ALWAYS have had luck going on those sites, finding out what hotels they have and then going on the actual hotel website, you can usually save at least another $5-10 a nite. I stayed at the San Diego Wyndham on the 16th floor with a Bay View room for only $110 a night by doing that. (That was like $45 off per night!)

Packed a couple of sweaters and a coat? Where do you think we're located? Siberia? LOL

Nights get chilly, so a light jacket should do you fine...but, if you get cold easy, a thick sweatshirt should do well, too.

It's been in the 80's during the day and about 60 at night.

You should hit VIP's, Scores, Admirals, and if you can swing it, Diamond's in West Chicago. IMHO, no other place is worth going to. Of course, VIP's sucks, as well as their dancers do NOT approach tables with women at them. If you are just going to have a look-see, go...but if you're going to have fun...go to Scores instead...or Admirals or Diamonds.

    Happy clubbin!!

Oops, looks like we posted at the same time, so I didn't see that you got a hotel. Other than that, all I can say is exactly what VG said. I don't have experience with VIPs, but Scores has been good to me as a customer. So if you're going to have fun, definitely go somewhere like that or Admiral. Hope you have a nice time here! The weather should still be OK, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed for no rain!
