    Default Fat Flush Plan

Scorpio and I are starting this plan today (or actually, we did start it). We've both been feeling "toxic" and thought that a good flush would do us wonders.

I know that I've been eating too many carbs and stuff lately, and need to just cleanse my body to get my hormones and all under control. With my miscarriage, I found out that I had fibroids...and fibroids are caused by an imbalance between the estrogen and progesterone in a woman's body (my estrogen level is too high). My doctor wanted to start me on progesterone therapy, but I am very hesitant as I do not like putting stuff into my body that I do not need (well, besides chocolate and stuff like that...LOL). I thought that I would do this cleanse and go back to eating extremely healthy again...and see if that helps things before I take any pills.

I'll post pics in a couple of weeks (before and after pics).

BTW...what we're doing is found in the book, "The Fat Flush Plan". Can't remember the author's name...but, there you have it!

    Ta-ta for now!!

Venus--I just got that book! I am going to do it in conjunction with quitting smoking. Wish I could take a vacation at the same time!

Where do you get the vitamins? Keep us posted!

I think Ive heard of that plan. Not sure of the outcome and how effective it is but Im hopefull for ya. Im sorry about your miscarraige and fibroids you seem like strong person to be able to handle it. I hope the fibroids go away and your plan works. Youre a very healthy person it seems always giving great advice on health.

Ive heard wonders about what the right foods can do for a person and how it helps them get better from whatever ails (sp?) them.

We get most of our stuff from Whole Foods. Their stuff tends to be more expensive, so if you need to, you can always buy the meat (fresh meat) at Whole Foods and then shop at Trader Joe's (we do this). Or, you can make sure that you do the food "cleanse" that she talks about in the book. Personally, I wouldn't do the bleach and water thing...but you do what you have to do, right?

Vitamins, you can get just about anywhere. You may even consider checking online and seeing what the prices are. If you buy name-brand online, that would be better than buying something you've never heard of before.

The hardest part about this plan, though, is the cran-water. I have a really hard time eating/drinking anything that is tart...so...we'll see how well I do over the 2 weeks.

    TM, thanks.

Whoa - bleach water thing?! huh? I hope it's not as scary as it sounds! Well good luck to all you trying this, I personally could not stick to something like that, so I give you a TON of credit. However, I hear fibroids are very common, so let me know how it goes. I guess there's a point at which I need to bite the bullet and take better care of myself. (Also, Venus, sorry to hear about the miscarriage. I hope you and Scorpio are OK). Please definitely keep us posted about how things turn out.

I've never heard of this but I'm curious. And pardon my stupidity, but what are fibroids exactly? I have fucked up hormones. Hope I don't have them (or get them).

Fibroids are muscle tissues that grow in a woman's uterus.

Here are some sites if you are wanting some information.

    http://www.fibroidfacts.com/Home.do

Gynger, you could still do the fat flush plan. It's not so much for losing weight as it is for cleansing toxins. Just for the majority of the country...it includes over-weight people. People who do not have much to lose, won't lose it...but you will cleanse your body...which will either help with weight gain or at least help maintain current weight.

Just wanted to add that fibroids are becoming much more prevalent (common) in the US today. Studies have shown that this may have a lot to do with the amount of "prepared foods" that our country downs on a daily basis. The thing about the fat flush plan (or any good body/organ cleansing plan) is that it cleans out all of the toxins that you find in your daily food now (pesticides, hydrogenated oils, refined products, etc) and then you go on to eating a more "whole" diet (no refined anything...no hydrogenated oils...etc). Now, I don't know if this will help with my fibroids, but I have nothing to lose...well, except the 20 pounds I packed onto my ass this past year.

some nutritionists believe that the increase in fibroids, etc, today is due to the hormones given to dairy cows to increase milk production. I also read recently that even some organic dairies feed their cows hormones! I hope that isn't true....

I hope this cleanse works well for you and that you feel better...

Hmm, thanks for this thread. I think I am going to look into this. i was reading a book about all the nasty shit we put into our bodies, even just from some of the food coloring and chemicals that are used to make flavors. It's pretty nasty. Thank you for this thread. To be honest, I forgot all about that book, but for like a month after I read it, I completely changed what I eat. But then I forgot (I'm easily distracted I guess).....but, I will look for this book and check it out.

Given the state of the dairy industry in the US, and the certification procedures for organic foods over there, I wouldn't be surprised if you're right about the hormones. Here's some links to a couple of really interesting stories (you may have to watch an ad to read the salon one)

They also believe that this has a lot to do with the increase in allergies, obesity, ADD, ADHD, psychotic episodes, etc.

I am lactose intolerant, so I haven't drank much milk, but I am weening my daughter off of dairy and replacing with Rice Milk products. It's been good so far, but she still loves her yogurt.

Although, I am not sure if they CAN feed their organic animals any type of hormone or steroid and call it ORGANIC milk. But, I'd have to go look into that. The difference of what they can't do and what they do do, is well...only apparent if they get caught.

Venus, how much protein is ther in Rice milk? Because we are vegetarians, protein is a constant issue with us. (Planning on consuming PLENTY of whey protein on the Fat Flush Plan!)

Also, have you tried Oberwies milk? They claim to use no antibiotics, no hormones, etc, but the cows are not fed organinic feed. It certainly tasted diffferent form run-of-the-mill ordinary milk and even regualr orgainc milk.

Colleen, there is only 1 gram of protein in Rice Milk. However, you do not need to get protein from milk. In fact, studies have shown that the protein found in milk cannot be easily digested by humans. If you are needing more protein, I would suggest that you up your intake of green veggies (broccoli, peas, etc). Not only are those proteins easily digested, those types of veggies contain as much, if not more, calcium and protein that milk does.

I've tried Oberweiss Milk and it is not any different. I think what makes me lactose intolerant is the inability to break down the protein found in cow's milk. Lactose intolerant means, after drinking milk or dairy, that you become constipated or have diarrhea, become bloated, tired, fuzzy thoughts, or extremely gas-y. A lot of people are lactose intolerant, but don't realize the signs of lactose intolerance. I used to think I had IBS until I cut dairy out of my diet. Now, there's no problems.

Being fed non-organic feed would simply mean that the milk is not organic. The best part about organic stuff is that those animals are given the freedom to eat their "staple" diet. Which, for cows, means that they are allowed to eat grass. Grass contains a natural fat inhibitor called Conjugated Linoleic Acid (or CLA). When the cows (or any animal) consumes this grass, it is distributed throughout it's body. CLA, when the animal products are used, is then passed on to the consumer. One of the studies showed that by removing grass from the cows diet and substituting with processed grains (which creates fattier cows) and, sometimes with meat from other cows (which is how mad-cow is spread) the cow's meat and milk do not contain CLA...increasing your intake of animals products with no CLA means that there is no "inhibitor" to block your body from storing all of the fat that can be found in milk, meat products, etc.

Of course, by upping your intake of vegetables, etc you will naturally increase your intake of CLA without having to eat more milk, etc. Also, patuerization can also kill off the CLA found in milk. For now, though, you can increase your CLA levels by taking CLA pills.

So, if you are drinking Oberweiss milk (or any milk) that claims that it is "organic" but replaces the cow's diet with anything other than pasture grown grass...you are not drinking organic milk and you are also eliminating CLA from a large staple of your diet. While they may be able to claim that their milk is organic...it's, in reality, not.

If you're having a problem with too much estrogen be sure to cut out all caffeine. Women who drink four cups of coffee a day are shown to have a 70% higher estrogen level than those who drink just one. Cut it all out, coffee, black tea, soda, chocolate.

Too much estrogen is becoming a HUGE problem for both women and men, the cause for the unbelievable rise in breast, ovarian, lung, and prostate cancer. We get it from the hormones fed to animals, as well as living in a constant state of stress. Also, with so many women on birth control pills the excess hormones get peed out into the water system. With hormones given to animals to fatten them up and make them grow faster it's a wonder why we don't understand the increasing obesity of the humans that eat them.

Many symptoms of PMS are caused by having too much estrogen and too little progesterone to balance it out. Progesterone's role is to calm the body and relax the muscles, therefore when it's low you get premenstrual tension, migraine headaches, and muscle cramping. Constant craving for sweets and carbohydrates is another symptom of estrogen imbalance, as well as cold hands and feet.

There are some simple and natural things you can do to get back in balance. Eat organic meat and cheese as much as possible, cut out all caffeine and sugar. You can take Natural Progesterone Cream, I've had great success with this though I had to up the recommended dosage (under supervision) to see a change. I had trouble with ovarian cysts that went away after using Calcium d-glucarate. It's very expensive but it draws excess estrogen out of your body naturally.

Do a search under Estrogen Dominance, Calcium d-Glucarate, and Natural Progesterone Cream and you'll find lots of information. It's great that you're learning about this now because if you get it in balance while you're young you may avoid the problems of menopause, Also, be sure you're getting enough healthy fats, omega-3, found in fish oil, flax oil, olive oil, nuts, avacados. Women in their 20's, and 30's in their struggle to be thin are also starving themselves of the resources they'll need in their later years.

I look forward to hearing how the fat flush plan goes!

Well, so far, I've lost all of my bloat (it was pretty bad). I've dropped about 7 pounds and I know it's all water weight, but my skin is starting to look vibrant again and my eyes are looking more clear. oh, and I don't wake up with the yucky white coating on my tongue. I've had some set-backs...but all in all, it's doing me some good. With the set-backs, I may do this for a total of 3 weeks as opposed to 2. I haven't decided yet...

Shakti...thank you for the information. I do not drink coffee or pop...and I only eat chocolate every once in a while. My main diet hasn't been as good as it should be...and I've decided that I'm going Whole Food organic, again. I'm going back to making everything from scratch. It takes a lot longer, but it's so much healthier...and I really do not want my daughter to have weight issues or health problems from taking the "short cut" and doing the prepared route.

I'll post pics at the beginning of NEXT week...not this coming week, but the week after.

VenusGoddess-Sorry to hear about the fibroids. Stay on top of that. My aunt just had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago. Luckily they only had to remove her uterus and not her ovaries. Her uterus was as big as a football and hard as a rock with fibroids. (I don't mean to gross anyone out with detail) . If you know you have them don't neglect it.
I hope the cleanse makes you feel better. I might give it a try, been curious about it.

I'd be really interested to see the actual study showing that caffeine consumption in the order of 4 cups of coffee a day increases oestrogen levels by 70%, if anyone could provide a link to it I tried a search on medline but didn't come up with anything...

Venus - So sorry to hear of your miscarrage. I hope your fibroids get better.
I have been drinking rice milk for a while now. I still eat yogurt, but try to get the organic kind. You should check out Wild Oats Market in Evanston 1111 Chicago AVe. They have some cool stuff, sometimes 2 for 1 sales. I go there once in a while, to "supplement" TJ's & WFoods.

Coleen check out vitaminshoppe.com, they have stores too, great prices & many good brands.

Yeah... google isn't as specific as I'd like- there's a lot of crackpot nonsense out there amongst the sound information. I was looking for the actual study- I gathered it was in the journal of Fertility and Sterility, but I couldn't find the article... thanks anyway!

Hey colleen, you mentioned you're a vegetarian, and i know that doesnt always mean vegan, but do you eat eggs? Eggs are considered a perfect protein, and the protein by which all proteins are standardized against. (just going by what ive learned in school, lol) Basically, if you eat egg whites, they're an amazing source of protein, and egg whites have no cholesterol. However, I don't know how that fits into the perricone prescription or fat flush plan
