    Default Nipple piercings

Hi ladies , I've wanted to get my nipples pierced for a long time. I'm worried about
whether or not its true that it can cause breast cancer(my grnandmother had
breast cancer so I think I aam at a greater risk). Do any of you know if its true that having your nipples pierced can cause cancer?

I am 99.99999999% nipple piercings don't cause breast cancer. That's a myth, just like sleeping in a sports bra will cause it, and so will being hit in the boobs too many tims. They're all myths. Are you at higher risk of ear cancer if you get your ears pierced? Tongue cancer from a tongue piercing? Vaginal cancer from a vaginal piercing? Nope. I have both my nipples done and have had nothing but pleasue. They're a joy, have no fear.

Hey, DSU, how long have your nipps been pierced? Mine have been for a few weeks, and one of them still hurts! The balls from the barbell are digging into my skin. Did this happen to you?

By the way, I don't think piercings cause cancer. They may damage some milk ducts if not done properly, though.

. . . According to some other threads on here, though, they may cause dance earnings to go down (so consider whether an unobtrusive "filler" ring is available.)

Some researchers say that there is a risk that any breast injury can later on cause cancer - that includes piercings and surgery. I found this out after I developed a marble sized lump behind one of my nipple piercings.
The piercings have not effected my earnings at all, I love 'em!

Thanks girls! I'm going to go get them done soon. I still get a little milk leaking out from time to time(from breastfeeding last year) , I hope this doesn't affect anything.

the marble sized lump was more than likly a keloid scar from the piercing.

I never heard of nipple piercing causing cancer. I got mine done about 4 years ago and i love it.
When was your mother diagnosed with cancer? If it was post-manapuse you are not at risk. Thats what my surgeon told me when i got my boobs cause he wanted to know about any family history of cancer. My grandma had breast cancer but she was post menapsuse. Good luck hun

Exotica, I got my first one done in April 2004, and the second one done February of this year. The balls never really dug into my skin. I have rings with spikes in now and they're doing fine. They're going to be sore until they fully heal which can take anywere from a month to a year; and I've heard stories of people finally having to take them out because they never heal. I have to take close care of mine because I'm constantly diving for balls and sliding. Just keep care of them, after you wash them, put some neosporin on the ring and turn it so it gets down in the piecing. You should be fine. I found that NOT wearing a bra made my piercings hurt MORE, if that helps.

Don't think it was a keloid because it would still bethere wouldn't it? I don't know what it was but I'm glad it's gone - I treated it alternativly without getting a biopsy or anything (I'm an alternative health extreemist (-

oh please -- everything causes cancer these days...oh don't crap yourself -- or else you'll cause anal cancer, more like anal trauma but that's a different story -- Cancer runs in my family and i have 4 nipple rings.

They have made my sales go up since it spikes peoples interest and is a convo starter when i get off stage.
They'll take a 3-9 months to fully heal depending on your body and it's healing abilities.
I would suggest if you get them pierced to start off with a ring so you can have movement and it's much easier to clean and look after with ring then once it's healed put in bars which are spacious.

I always carry around my bacteine spray (anti - bacterial spray) and wash my piercings with anti bacterial non scented soap. Plus i hold a cup of warm water filled with SEA salt which keeps it clean and if you have crusts and pus (which is natural) then it'll drain them out and keep your piercing fresh.

They will hurt, you might either gain sensativity or lose sensativity depending on how your body takes it -- might as well go for it.

    Not a big issue

Lol, very true with 2 out of 3 people expected to get some form of cancer these days (when it was almost non-existant a few centurarys ago)!
I would like to ad that the lump I had hasn't detured me from getting more piercings - nipples or anywhere else. I just thought I'd mention it since the question was raised. I found the cancer related info by chance when I was looking for alternative cancer treatments and dirt on biopsys...

Anyone worn nipple sheilds at work? I got given a whole bunch of them recently, I'm just wondering wether they'd be more hasstle than they're worth Ie having to answer questions about them all night and the possible janet Jackson connection blah? Or if customers would be a bit over blown away by them... I don't want to change jewlery at work, hmmm.
