    Default FreeCreditReport.com

Just a warning for you guys. I tried FreeCreditReport.com a couple of years ago and it is not free. I paid 5.99 for my credit report. The company then preceded to charged me 9.99 per month for protection from identity thief, keeping an watchful eye on my credit and letting me know of anything different that happens, etc. Once I saw it on my bank statement I called to cancel it but they still charged me and sometimes twice monthly. When I called again the lady who answered hardly spoke no english and did cancel but did not refund my 40 some bucks they took.

With all the advertising they are doing on TV, Im sure they expect to make some money off of someone.

I warned people about this a while ago. I consider it false advertising and it is probably pushing the envelope.

This is the only really free way.

    Note the page says
The FTC recently settled a lawsuit against Consumerinfo.com – which did business as Experian Consumer Direct – over the “free credit report” promotion it advertised on television, radio and the Internet, including its websites freecreditreport.com and consumerinfo.com. If you ordered a free credit report from Consumerinfo between November 1, 2000 and September 15, 2003, and were enrolled in its credit monitoring program, you may be eligible for a refund under the FTC’s settlement.
And this is the Federal Trade Commision.
