    Default mystic tans

ok i did a search and the last time anyone posted about these was in 2003, i want to see if anyone has tried it recently and how they like it.

my question is, i have really fair skin, anyone with really fair skin tried it? did you like it? orange, itchy, breakouts or anything?

i want to try it i think.

i am gonna search now on the sun spray i read about on here too, i guess its the same thing?

what type of skin do u have and what level do you use?

i guess i could just go ask the tanning salon all this but i'd like to hear from ppl who tried it and arent just trying to sell
Oh, I musta took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

I got it done once with the clearcoat (sounds like a car paint job). My sister got it with the instant bronzer. I didn't care for it too much. Didn't show up too well on my fair skin, and I managed to get it up my nose, in my mouth, in my ears, and in my eyes. It wasn't streaky, it just wasn't that great. It didn't last. I get better color from the L'Oreal Tanning Gelee.

I used to work in a tanning salon that has a Mystic Booth. I have also been airbrushed by a person. The airbrushing didnt have the instant bronzer so the person doing it missed a few spots, they'll always fill in the spots the next day, plus I didn't feel comfortable getting my whole body airbrushed by another person anyway. The Mystic is quick, private, and with the solution with the instant bronzer it's easier to see any spots or streaks right away so they can be rubbed in. I was already tan when I started using it, but a couple of the other girls were lighter and it got them a few shades darker. If you are going to use it, make sure you are freshly showered, exfoliate, unshaven, and well moisturized. Good idea to do it on a day off so you don't sweat, that could cause spots. Make sure to wear darker clothing also. The salon should also have little touch up bottles of the solution for any spots. It takes about 6 to 8 hours for your skin to get its maximum darkness. So if you tanned before you went to bed, you'd wake up a darker person!!! I hope this helps you some.

i sort of like it but its better if you do it with tanning to give you an extra boost, the only thing i dont like is how it sticks in your pores, and makes you look like you have blackheads the first couple of days.

Had it done this yr. in the spring. I had a coupon 3 tans for 33.00. I'm pretty fair, some yellow undertones in my skin. It was ok, a lil' streaky. It did get up my nose as was mentioned, even tho I did hold my breath. There is an airbrush home prod. that has had good revews, it's about 20.00 @ Sally's & drugstores. I think I prefer a spray tan in can product, which one is Neutrogena I've used. There is one sold @ Sephora, it's sold out on the website a lot, a lil' more expensive called Model Co. tan in a can. I think there's a good tanning website: iamtan.com Some one mentioned it here.

I am very fair, and the mystic tan worked so-so. I mostly don't like what it does to my face. I am just used to having a very pale face, and the mystic made it quite absurdly tan/orangey. I've heard it does work a lot better for someone who already has a base tan. Personally I get better results with the jergens daily moisturizer/tanner stuff, but even that's not perfect.

i like the jergen's lotion, the only thing is if once you get as tan as you like then if you stop you turn yellow for a day or so! i have some that i used before, i might start it again. i just thought maybe the mystic would be less hassle, but yeah i wasnt sure how it would look on my face.
do you girls have suggestions for a good self tanner for faces? i think i put the jergen's one on my face and broke out.
that girl last night said the neutrogena one is what she used for the self tanner. is that an instant one, not like the jergen's that builds over a few days?

Aboslutely correct. Your skin must be preparred properly. The PH level of every persons skin varies giving each person different results. I maintain a base tan and frequently do airbrush. Mystic gives the same amount of solution for someone 6'2 or 5'2 causing it to spray unevenly if you are not familiar or dont rotate fast enough. Airbrush is a personal service catered to the individual . The technition has control how even the color comes out (less of the orange hands knees, feet from over spray). Most places are about the same price or not much more for a personalized service. Do on an off day so if a touch up is needed in the morning before your shift. If you have fair skin (red heads mostly) sometimes the orange fake color will result if over done. If you do a few sessions and gradually increase shades it looks more natural. Also buy a mosturizer that has the DHA bronzers to extend the life of tan

When the color fades or begins to peel exfoliate gently to remove color. Rubbing alcohol will help remove uneven color (dont use too much it will dry your skin out)

Mystic Tan and airbrushing is so bad for you. It hasn't even been FDA approved and kills your mucues Membrains... Tanning is a lot safer and prevents breast cancer and so forth/ But do it in moderation and its very healthy (Vitamen C).

I use to get airbrushed in a salon about once a week.

    let me say this.

Although I look great day 2. ( after the shower. I always waited 24 hours to shower. ) after a few days i began looking spotty. or freckly to the point ..it appeared i was having some skin issues lol.

I would touch up with store bought self tanner till I could get in.

The upside is yes it looks good

You can shade in areas to look more defined ..cover up stretch marks..cellulite looks less dimpled ..you can even shade in your cheekbones to give more structure.

BUT i can always tell who's been sprayed. IT still no matter what looks fake..orangish if you will. ( that's if you dont get out in the sun at all. )

it comes off on your sheets and it does stain your clothing. Airbrushing seems to always stain everything it touches..towels etc.

it stinks. it's an odd smell the first 48 hours. even after the first shower.

You have to use proper lotions and soaps.

I found summers eve bodywash to do wonders ( it works great on the face too . )

you almost always have to get touchups. Typically just the fingers. Because most people do wash their hands or get them wet before 12- 24 hours after airbrushing.

most salons do the touchups for free.

it's jsut too much maintance for me personally.

After awhile i also was just itchy all the damn time from it. I think it's a great idea for minor touchups ( like tan lines from tanning.. shading and defining structure. )

I dont know i'd go all the way with it.

I do tan but I use spf even in the tanning beds and anti wrinkle creams. No problem thus far. I stick to 3x's a week. with a week off once a month.

I think too tan looks crappy under club lights ( depending on how dark your club is. ) I dig the olive natural tone.

We all have seen the chicks that have gone a bit too far with tanning.

I did try the jergens stuff. The problem is the smell . like most self tanning products it has that odd smell to it. so now i have a bottle of it that has been used once.

I liked it.........you just have to make sure you wipe yourself really good afterwards other wise it'll end up wearing off on your clothes!
