    Default last.fm

Paige had started a thread about this website over on the pink side in the music section. (the only section I play around in over there to avoid getting in trouble) If you venture over there you'll see it. I went ahead and signed up since it seems pretty damned cool. Basically you download a plug-in for whatever music player you use locally on your machine be it WMP, WinAMP, iTunes, etc. The plug in allows the title of every song you play to be loaded into your setup there for others to see. You can rank your top songs & all. It seems like a musical version of myspace... Click this link to go to my homepage on last.fm & signup if you like it.

    Hmmm
no good on my porn audio
    and sex on tape collections.
However my audio dictation of "Finding The G-Spot" <1988 or something> would be rather impressive.

One week later I must confess I am not liking last.fm. For whatever reason it does not just keep your songs there forever. It only lists songs you've recently listened to. (meaning songs from the same day) I listened to like 15 songs back on the 28th. I then went back a few days later to check it out and they were all gone. Lame.

I'm probably doing something wrong but I have checked all of the options. zzz

The FAQ says that happens anytime they have to reboot their computers. Your "recently listened to" list gets wiped out. It's an interesting concept but I'd say this is a beta service.

I notice they're licensed by the British MCPS/PRS which collects fees and distributes royalties. I don't see how the service can stay free if they actually legally pay compensation to artists/composers when someone else listens to your "playlist." I don't know enough about that organization like I do about American licensing, but methinks the number of artists available for streaming webcasts may be limited in this case. I suppose that doesn't reduce the number of artists listed among your favorites, just the number of them available to other listeners to hear. But I'm surmising that from what I read; the explanation about that topic is a bit ambiguous.
