Default to stand out or blend in?

Right now im a pretty big fish in a small pond at my club so to speak. id love to move up to a bigger classier club, but there really arent any around my area.

id really like to dance a the lodge or the mens club in dallas, but the websites really intimidate me. im scared i might not fit in even though ive already emailed the club with pictures asking if i could work there and i was told yes.

so this leaves me witht he question for you ladies who dance:

have you ever moved up and into a much classier club than before? how did you like it? or was it better being a big fish in a small pond? Im wondering if there would be more an advantage to keep working in a smaller club where the other girls have no clue how to hustle, even if ohio money isnt so hot.

any advice appreciated im feeling overwhelmed.

Perhaps you could visit the club first? That might take the edge off...or go up to a bigger club closer to you for a 'trial run', something that is new and bigger yet a stepping stone before you go off to a new city/state...I have pondered the same idea, so I drove by the club I was interested in!! --Didn't even go in and I felt less overwhelmed!

I have never made a move up, i've not started dancing yet, but i'd like to put my 2 cents in here. I really think that this is something you should go for! what do you have to loose? If you go and fit in Great and have a good time it's worth it, and if not then you can always go back where you are now. No biggie. Take the jump and embrace it. You'll fit in and you'll do just fine there!

Oh I think you can figure out how to stand out - some of those rave flashing bracelets or the like will get you noticed. Wear a pink or purple wig - you have the face to make it work (if you are your avatar.) Guys notice a girl's personality.

Being a big fish in a small pond is where Im at. Im not a good hustler(some would disagree, but really Im not), and bigger clubs with "more competition" intimidate me. I dont want to beg for money..and where Im at I dont. Money isnt great, but I do well for myself considering the area-bikini club land.
Nevertheless, taking a jump into a better club could be a worhtwhile risk..You never know until you try..each girl is different and jumping out of the small pond could prove to be a good move..you never know until you try..plus you can always go back to the small pond at anytime.

heres a few thing to think about...

Whats it going to mean for your money??
How much will it go up by moving??

Do you like the club where you are??

Im asking because i have known alot of entertainers who like being the big fish in a little pond, entire careers are worked like that, and i have seen it consistantly pay off.

I will always say girls should move to the big city clubs, because thats where the real money is at,but when your talking about a big fish, sometimes they are already making the same amount as they would if they move.
If your the top dog,i would tell all the other girls to move that you work with, you I would say, ride that wave.

Its really good for dancers to travel,or at least do "weekends"every so often at a different club. Its good for the sanity, its good for finding new ideas, and its good for finding new music, its great for networking, and its really good if you can make money.lol

Natural disaters or a club closing wont leave you out in the cold,or scrambling along with all the other girls to find a spot on a rotation, your already friendly with a few clubs.

We have alot of girls in Virginia that travel to the carolinas for 1-2 weeks at a time during golf season, sometimes longer.Or they do NY or DC/Balt during convention seasons or sports seasons.

Its good to have a network of clubs you can work at all year long, with one usually being your "Home"club.
I think if they can do it,all top entertainers should travel a few times a year.

If while building this network of clubs, you happen to come across one where you just freekin bank, and do it for awhile, then its time to swap "Home"clubs to fill most of your years schedule.
Then your old "home"club turns into a great place to travel back to.

    Either way,dont burn any bridges.

best of luck in your journeys.

don't settle for something because it is comfortable and something you are familiar with. go to dallas and try those clubs! you'll never know your potential if you dont try. and you can always go back if it doesnt work out right?

ps--you can still stand out at bigger clubs.

You should always try what you haven't done. Nobody will tell you that you can't come back, will they? Dallas isn't your only choice for a "big pond" is it? You have so many options. Take it from me, who started almost 7 years ago in Boise, Idaho. I finally tried Vegas (my stripper Mecca) after being intimidated and completely terrified of for over 6 years. Guess what? It's not so bad! When I made the Boise to SF move, I went to SF for a week, worked and then moved. 3 months before that, even, I made a trip to SF to check out the 3 clubs that were of interest to me. It really takes the edge off to make a trip as a custy and see firsthand what the environment is like. The websites are designed to make the clubs attractive as possible. The girls in the "meet our ladies" sections are just like you and me...and they were probably asking themselves the same question before trying. Go for it, and let us know how you do! You'll be great.

Try for a first time move up club, both the lodge and the men's club girls make a lot of money off of regulars and for the look at your avatoir you look like you could make good money at any of them, I make better money at Babydolls and like the lower house fee's, PM me if you want any help when you get down there, there is a small group of us from this site that work in Dallas and go try different clubs together....

Maybe next time try actually reading her post before responding. This response makes no sense considering what she is asking.

    HOW RUDE!!!

She was worried about being a small fish in a big pond and I told her how to become a bigger fish.

It all depends on the club. I wouldn't be afraid or intimidated about any type of club. You have to try them all and find your niche.

Depending on what a dancer looks like, and her personality and sytle of work, certain clubs may or may not work well for her.

Keep in mind that big popular clubs in major cities have A LOT of dancers, and in major cities there is a larger pool of well kept high maintenance dancers to choose from. So when there are a lot of above average well kept looking girls of your nationality working under one roof, and as many or more girls than customers, it takes a lot more effort to make sales. It is very possible to have more erratic earnings in a big city higher end club because of intense competition. Just because a club is upscale doesn't mean there is more AVERAGE income to be had there.

In the small club where you are one of the more polished better looking girls, and you are a hard worker and have established a clientele of guys who like you, you probably enjoy stable earnings and are in the top 20% of dancers earningswise. If a full time week in a club like this is $2000, possibly 40% of it comes from guys you are popular with since you have a lot of repeat customers.

In the big city fancy club there are not as many loyal regular customers, and guys have more girls to choose from, so you most likely will be working from scratch every night.

Just keep in mind that in every town big or small, there are guys with money who go to strip clubs. Don't feel that the grass is necessarily greener in other clubs than where you are now because they are in bigger cities.

By all means experience EVERY type of club, clubs that seem very intimidating because they are upscale and clubs that look the total opposite. Money is spent in all of them, just see where you earn the most.

i made the move to a bigger club after being a very big fish in a very small pond. it is very hard! a lot of opportunities open up and you learn so much more moving there but it seriously knocks your self confidence. i went from a club where myself and my best friend were consistantly the highest earners in the club, we didn't ask for money ever, customers would follow us around waiting for their turn, mind you we are nothing special, just better than the rest there was to offer
...... well, we got bored and i started getting lazy and selfish so we decided to make our way over to a bigger club down the road. we got in no problem coz of our reputation the main show features but once we were there, i sunk, she swam. i could've kept going and made myself bigger but my passion for stripping (mainly dealing with men) was gone.

i danced there for three months, got myself a regular feature show timeslot and started doing pretty well in the shows and getting my reputation back but the little fish syndrome hit and i couldn't do it anymore

... long story cut short, i became the dance manager (house mum), got bored, back in retail, hate it, wanna go back to the clubs but know i won't hack it..... poor me....

my friend stuck it out and is now Miss Nude Victoria, Miss Nude Australia Runner-up and once again once of the biggest fish in the big pond.

you can use the move to your advantage or demise, choose wisely about your expectations before you make the big switch. i would've been better off staying in the small club or putting a bit more effort in the bigger one.

good luck let us know how you go

I whent from a small club to a big club then back to the small club. The girls at a bigger club can sometimes be a lil stuck up for me.But thats just the one i went to. I dont know how it is where you are. I made just as much money there as i did at the small club. There was alot more drama and bullshit at the bigger club to. I hated it there. I would just stay where you are if you are making good money. If you are happy there dont mess it up.
