Default HELP with paint shop pro?

hope this thread is ok here in the lounge....
i just downloaded a trial version of paintshop pro (X-2..?? it says that after it)
because i want to try to make sparkley names and stuff. i found a tutorial online and it said to go in your paintshop and open the animation shop. well it took a while to dowload and install all this and when i looked for the animation shop i cant find it anywhere.
do you know where it is?? help! lol or maybe it's not on this version? if anyone has this or can help me out thanks in advance.

wow i really am impressed by the people that already know how to do this stuff, it is freaking HARD. and hard to find sites with pre-made ones of your particular name isn't easy either!

also if you know of any links that would be helpful on getting started on making this glitter sparkley stuff those would be appreciated too.

    anyone?

Which version of PSP did you download, BG? In most versions, you just click on "file" in PSP, then find "Jasc Software Products", scroll over that, and you should be able to click "Launch Animation Shop". If it's not there, let me know, and I'll hook you up with the version that I use (7.04). I've tried the later versions, and I don't like them much.

LOL Yes I got the PM Hon.. Glad you found the siggy among the sea of requests.. I seriously have to get back to them, soon.

Ok.. Sounds like you need to make sure that when you save your stuff that you want to work with in Animation Shop, you save it as a .psp file. Other extensions will work, but .psp is best to start anything off in AS. When you're finish creating your unanimated stuff, just save it as a .psp file. By default it should save as that already, but I don't know.. LOL

Check your files and let me know what kind of extension those have. There still may be a way to recover them and resave them as .psp files.

i am so o.c.d. so i will probably do this all day if it takes that long lol. i cant give up....

edit: ok jeff got home and fiddled with something and something happened lol! i think we might get it to work, i will post it if i get one made!! wooohoooo thanks for answering rhi!

edit again: yay! it worked! i will post one to show u guys my work in a bit! yippppeeeeeee!!!

ok here is my first success. actually the second, the first looks better but it's my real name and i dont wanna post it on here. even though lots of people on here know my real name. i'm weird i know .

so here it is, it looks like crap lol. still working on it, i'll post more as i go!

not sure why it jumps back and forth...i think i know but not positive, i'll try making the layers the same size instead of a little bigger and see if that's it.
click on the thumbnail to see it glitter and jump lol. i wish it was purtier but that's what i got so far.

Nice work! My first couple of animations jumped like that when I first started out. I found the cause to be that I tried to center the whole animation, and ended up just centering 1 layer. LOL

That looks like what happened there.

Best bet is to center it before you duplicate it into numerous layers, just to be on the safe side.

(tutorial for making siggy's, not one for psp or animation shop, to be specific)

edit: here is the one i'm using now:

I'll see if I can write a "Crash Course" one tonight. I don't have a whole lot of time with the new puppy, but as soon as everything settles down for the night, I'll have a few minutes to do it. I'm going to move this on over to the Pic thread because the tutorial I write is going to be pretty graphics-intense (I'll include screen shots and all that).

I'll be able to do it in a couple hours.

here's another one...a little better (but still not perfect) i'm gonna try one with a nice fat font that will be easier to fill. also i keep making little mistakes then not sure how to correct them lol. so i will keep trying. this is fun and frustrating too!

    dang it. it's not sparkling...arrrghhhh

edit:ok it sparkles on my photobucket but not as an attachment on here? the one in the post there is on my photobucket, the attached one is uploaded from my computer. weird.

PSP is, in my opinion, one of the true jems of the PC world. I was die-hard Amiga guy back in the late 80's and early 90's and when I finally made the leap to the PC, there wasn't a decent paint program in existence. Photoshop at the time was a horrible port from the Mac (still is in my opinion) and to this day I consider it to be a piece of overprice bloated crap of software. Well, some 10 years ago, I came across Paint Shop Pro which, was version 2.0 at the time. I couldn't believe how awesome it was, and CHEAP too. I think back then you didn't even have to pay for it unless you wanted to. They finally made it trial/shareware at version 5 or 6 I think. Anyway, 9.0 is out and it's awesome...blows photoshop out of the water for a fraction of the price. If you need any specific advice on the program, just let me know.

hey TM rhiannon made the first one on my sig line, the blue one. all the others i made oh and jeff made one i think i posted on here too.
    here's the tutorial i used:
    http://members.aol.com/bemymind/howtoglitter.html
but after i figured it out, i cut out a lot of the steps. basically, you:
    1. find a glitter block on the site that is in that link, i think called "bring on the glitter." save it to your computer.
    2. then open it in animation shop. copy each frame and paste it as a new image in paint shop. leave them open, minimized if you want.
    3. then in paintshop, open a new image for each frame of the glitter.
    4. in each one type your text (in the same font and size and everything).
    5. then with the flood fill button, go to the color and change it to patterns.use the drop down menu to find "open images" , your glitter frames are there.
    6. fill the first text box with the first glitter frame, the second text box with the second glitter frame, the third with the 3rd frame and so on, depending on how many frames of glitter you had.
    7. go to layers and click merge, then merge visible.
    8. then for each of the text boxes: file>save as, then name each frame with
a name and the number (like frame1., frame2, etc) make sure it has ".psp" after the name, and make sure the drop-down menu for "file type" (under where you name the file) is set to "PSP animation shop (*.psp)".
    9. then go back to animation shop and go to file, click on "animation wizard".
click next until you get to the white box that says add images. add each of the frames you saved with the glitter fills. click next and finish until it pops up the three frames. then go to view, click animation, and voila! there is your glittery siggy!!
thats what i do, my adatation of that tutorial i guess. i hope i didnt leave anything out . if you have a different version of paint shop than me, i dunno anything about those lol!
if it doesnt work let me know what happened, maybe i can help....cant promise anything though, b/c i'm still a beginner myself! lol good luck!
