    Default Yet ANOTHER eBay Rant...

We've got a few of these floating around, don't we?

Back in August, I ordered two items, different sellers. They both had impeccable ratings (I always check first. Anyone with below a 95 or 96, I skip). Well.. After I had sent my payments to them, all of the negative feedbacks started appearing on their accounts. I'm not talking one or two.. I'm talking 50-100 negatives.

So of course, I started freaking out, thinking I too would be screwed out of the money I sent. I was right.

From one seller, I ordered the Ab Lounge (I spoke about it in another thread, that I was getting one, and would update everyone on how well it worked). After shipping ($65) and mandatory insurance ($5), I spent about $95 altogether on it. I paid the way I always do, with a Money Order, and the seller marked the payment received 3 days after it was sent. A WEEK later, I get an email saying that my order was shipped, and I'd be receiving a tracking number from UPS within 24 hours or something. So, I wait... And wait... Finally, it got close to our moving date, so I contacted the seller and told him that I needed to know the status, because we were moving, and it had been about 2 weeks. He totally ignored my request for the tracking number (which he says in all his listings is provided when the item is shipped), and told me he'd have to re-send it because it was sent back to him? Mmhmm. So I say alright, and give him another shot. I gave him the new address, and he said he'd be shipping it right out. Now... We've been in this new place a month, tomorrow. I emailed him immediately after getting THAT email, and I demanded a tracking number, as it would be the second time he'd shipped it, supposedly.

He totally ignored that request. So, two weeks ago, I filed a claim with eBay. I'd dealt with this assclown about all I was going to, and I DEMANDED a refund. eBay sent me a reply saying they were working on the claim and would get back to me.

That brings us to this morning. I open my email and find one from him. It says "Hello. Your item has been shipped. Please allow 3-10 days for it to arrive."

What the hell kind of shit is that? It was already made abundantly clear that I wanted my $100 back. No tracking number was given either. So, I email him back, saying that I'll give his ass one last chance, and that I'd better receive it this time. I also demanded a tracking number as proof that he did indeed send it out. I'll have to wait and see if I get it.

The other one, wasn't expensive (about $15, a DVD), but I ordered that back in JULY. Yes, JULY. I contacted them too, just before our move. They said they'd send out a replacement because they claim they hired some people to help them out, and they were ripped off by them. (Uh huh.. Whatever.) So, I wait for that. It never came, of course. So, I file that with eBay as well.. Only, eBay doesn't refund any items that cost less than $25.00 (because they charge a $25 processing fee if they have to refund through them). I checked the other day, and oh.. Surprise! They are no longer registered users of eBay.

Luckily, I had left negative feedback for them while they were still members. I left it for the Ab Lounge guy as well, who retalliated with negative saying that "If there is a problem, email us before leaving negative!" (Uh huh.. I did.. About 14 times.. And I have the emails to prove it.)

I've been an eBayer since '01, and have NEVER had a problem. That is, until now. I didn't even have negative feedback until that jackass left it in retalliation. Sorry, but if it's a problem that the SELLER is responsible for, they need to correct it instead of leaving negative FB. I'm assuming that if I actually do receive this item.. He'll want me to take the negative back. Not a fucking chance.

My claim for the Ab Lounge is still active with eBay. So if I don't receive it, I imagine that eBay will refund through them, minus the $25 fee. Blah. This kind of shady crap really makes me weary of buying again, no matter how good the seller's score is.

    /Rant.

Here's the links to their feedback profiles. Very interesting reads.. Blah..

That DVD one is funny. Man, the USPS must really suck to lose all those people's DVD's in the mail in such a short period of time. Sucktacular.

My only real complaint with Ebay is the S&H fees. I feel there really needs to be some sort of scale for it. At the moment it's just so f'n arbitrary. "Hi the cd you won is 99 cents. Please include 6.75 for s&h". WTF? I now never buy anything from anyone who doesnt have a clear shipping total posted pre-sale. And even then 75% of the time it's a box that has been used 10 times with different addresses scratched out and a bunch of old newspaper inside instead of bubble wrap, and they shipped it "media rate" which is about 1/3 the price of what I paid for. Bastards. Just thought I would add my rant to that. Sorry about your experience though, that sucks.

you can go through a process with ebay to have malicious feedback removed.... i'm not sure how effective it is, though. i've had these problems, too. i no longer deal with anyone less than 99%. it's restricting, but it seems to work.

Yeah, I know about getting the feedback removed. Like I said, I've been on eBay a while. We'll see if the item's actually received or not before I do anything with that.

I think it's kind of difficult for a seller who has been on eBay for years to maintain a "perfect" feedback score. So I give them 95-96, because it's impossible to please everyone, and I understand that.

Yeah, I know that Gabe.. They didn't have all that much until I started WAITING for my purchase. If you check the links, the majority of them were in the last month or so.

Oh, I hear ya! We have completely given up on ever buying anything from E-bay. It's turned into a website full of too many damn scammers and not worth the frustration. Unfortunately for the few legit sellers on there the scam artists are ruining it.
I hope you get those items or some sort of refunds. Damn E-bay!

    Thanks LV.

I've pretty much written off any chance of refund of the DVD purchase, since well.. That seller up and disappeared from eBay. (Fucker)

Hopefully this Ab Lounge guy will make good on the deal. It's funny though--He didn't respond until I escalated my dispute to a claim. Isn't that always the way? Gotta show them you mean business or something before they start taking action.

You should pay through PayPal. That way...your money is accounted for through them and if you don't recieve the items you can file a claim. PayPal gives you and buyer 3 chances to finish the deal and get info. If that doesn't work, PayPal attomatically deducts money from the sellers account if you file for a refund.

    amen Rican!!!!!!!!!
Always use paypal,if you get in a dispute, the buyer always wins(up to 1000 dollars)

The seller does not want to run the risk of loosing his paypal account,so you always get your money back!
Even in cases where sellers dont want to give a refund,to bad, they still gotta do it.

paypal(an ebay company, the despute resolution people are not ebay, and cost 29.00 to mediate(worthless fucks)and they dont have the power to refund)

    Always pay with Paypal.
A refund is almost a guranteee in you run into shitty sellers.

Nope.. No Paypal for this girl. I don't trust ANYONE with my credit card information online. I use money orders only. That's the way it is.

You can set Paypal up so you can take money out/put money in straight from your bank account instead of through a credit card. But, some people think that's more risky.

Yes, I'm aware of the bank account thing. But, if I'm not willing to pay online by credit card, I'm damn sure not going to let them have access to my bank accounts.

For the record.. I DO have Paypal. I used to sell on eBay. But, my account's never been "verified", because I refuse to give my financial information.

I use money orders, because I can see where my money's going, and they don't get more than they're supposed to. It takes a bit longer to get the stuff I buy, but eh, it's worth it. There's no horrible risks involved, like there is when people have access to your bank account and credit cards.

I've also been an e-bayer for a long time and have been VERY lucky that I haven't run into trouble yet (knocking on wood). I am also a Paypal user, and I too was reluctant to become "verified", and give Paypal yet another way to get into an account of mine. Since my spending limit with Paypal was nearing it's max, it was either "verify" or goodby. So I opened a tiny little savings account (with only a few $$$ in it) at a local bank to use for my Paypal "verification". That way they don't have my "real" bank account info, and there is so little money in the new savings acct, that if something bad were to happen (shudder!), it wouldn't be a great financial loss to me.

I use both. I've had one guy who was a slow shipper (3 weeks), and that is the worst I've ever had.

I thought you needed a CC# just to register an ebay name since like `98?

^Nope. You don't need a credit card to use eBay. They prefer that you register with a credit card, of course. But, you can become "ID Verified" instead (which is what I did when I joined up years back). It costs $5, but it's worth it to people who don't want their financial information out there for eBay.

What I hate is when you send the money via pay pal right after you win something and it takes them 5 or 6 days to ship it. I won a ps2 game sunday sept 18, payed for it right after winning, she told me she would ship it by that friday.............COME ON YOU ALREADY HAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!! And then when oct 2nd came along and I had still not had it I email her and she's like "oh it takes 14 days sometimes"..........we live 190 miles appart I don't think it should take that long. I then get it in the mail wednesday oct 5. She emails saying her sisters husband was cleaning out the van and found my game and another stuck in the seat and that she was sorry....ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrr come on you can lie better than that.

Sorry had to get that off my chest!

What kind of feedback should I leave???

I would leave a neutral. Just the facts...like: Extremely slow ship. pd 9/18, shipped 10/3 rec'd 10/5. While people don't like "personal" insults like, "shipping slow...no response to emails." They really can't fight facts...it either happened that way or it didn't.

I am really getting myself in trouble with Ebay purchases. I have established like 5 different forms of payment through paypal (2 checking, 2 credit cards, and now paypal buyer credit). I try to alternate my methods of payment so the hubby doesn't notice as much. Worst part is I get into the bid frenzy on somethings I really don't want that much. Like it will start at $10.00 and I think I could use it that for that cheap but then I get in a bid war and I have to win, so I wind up paying 10X what it's worth!

It's really starting to be a disorder and I think it's time for a 12 step program.

^^^^ I never seem to find anything I like on there (granted it's brand new where I am.) I like the prices on Ebay a lot better, but I usually never pay more than $50 for anything so I don't take a big chance.
Anyone had trouble with the p.o. delivering money orders? I sent two to one woman, she never received either one and the latest one I sent came back as undeliverable. The post office itself said there was no reason for either of them to have a problem being deliverined.. what a mess!
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

Grrrr.. I am so over dealing with this idiotic seller. Remember how I told you all that he sent me an email with the tracking number? Well, the date of delivery has passed, so I got curious and contacted FedEx to see what was up. They informed me that although a shipping label had been printed, and they were notified to expect a package for delivery, they have not received it yet, and it has not been shipped. Nice, eh?

So, I forwarded that email from FedEx to the seller, and also to Ebay, so they can have it for the claim file.

I got an email back from the seller last night simply saying that they would contact FedEx on the next business day to find out what happened. Of course, he, I, and you all know that obviously it has NOT even been sent out yet.

The icing on the cake was opening my email this morning. The seller actually had the nerve to ask if I would remove the negative feedback I left, and he would remove the retalliation negative feedback. What the fuck?

I replied to him and simply said "I'll happily remove the negative feedback IF and WHEN I receive the item, or a refund."

What the hell is the matter with people? Do they not have a functioning brain cell in their freaking skull?

    Here's the FedEx response:

    Dear ****:

We received your inquiry. Thank you for contacting FedEx.

Our records show that while the shipper has generated a label for this package, it has not been tendered to FedEx for delivery. Please verify the shipping date and airbill number with your sender and email us back with the information or you can make another attempt to track your package on our Web site:

We hope this information is helpful. Again, thank you for contacting FedEx.

    Kara Mia R.
    FedEx Customer Service

Here is the seller's response to the forwarded FedEx email:
We will talk to our Fedex driver on the next business day and find out what's going on.

So I'm guessing that the next business day is tomorrow, with today being a holiday and all. Gah. Bugfuckers.

    Rhi,

I think that is BS if you are justified in leaving negative feedback and they retaliate for no reason.

So far I am doing O.K. My biggest issues was buying a vending machine game that had to be shipped. It took 4 weeks and numerous emails on my part, but I finally got it... But they shipped it yellow freight and it cost me $140 shipping ... OUCH. Then it had a circuit problem and they had to fix it... another 3 weeks.

But, with a little patience, I am now a proud owner of the Great Zambini..LOL.

I just purchased a bunch of things on ebay.. like 8 in the last week mostly antique books and fine china. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have problems.

Ebay is fine for used stuff but I avoid it and go directly to retailers for new things.
