    Default no tips on stage

i am barely getting tipped on stage. it is humiliating! my dj mostly plays that 'new rock' crap for me. not even decent old school stuff like alice in chains or nirvana, which i know customers would recognize. it's not hard and heavy- it's whiny. i always tip him well. think i could get him to play more familiar stuff that the crowd would recognize? i often hear the same stuff every night too. that's why i can make money in other clubs i worked in- i play stuff everyone knows but no one's heard in awhile (like cake's the distance). then i throw in some covenant or vnv nation as more obscure stuff that can still fit the stricter bill. any tips on getting him to play this? any tips to get these damn bastards to tip? i'm pretty flexible and put on quite a show, i'm in shape, exotic and i smile. i've tried winking at them etc. other girls will look completely bored and get tipped. this is a big club too and there is 1 other girl with my type of look who does well on stage- with not even half the effort i put in.

Not to be a wet blanket but uh, I don't think 90 percent of the customers tip for the music. Most guys at my club can't ever even name or know a song is playing unless we mention it. Maybe you should try working the crowd before your stage sets, to enthuism them to come up. Or maybe something else is foinf on?

Just make a CD you like. Or mention to him like 'Oh, you're a music man, have you heard 'such and such' song? I love that song, what do you think about it? I think it'd be fun to dance to, bla bla'. I usually get my DJ tp play shit by pandering to his music ego.

First of all, it really saddens me that AIC or Nirvana are considered "old school".

Anyhoo, straight up tell him that what he is playing for you just aint workin'. Any DJ who plays club shouldnt have a problem with most VNV or Covenant, within reason. Be more specific, and yeah...make a cd if you have to.

If you're tipping him well, and he's not performing well, stop tipping him. Tell him what you want, and if it is within what you know he's allowed to do and he doesn't do it, he doesn't deserve your money. Period.

    I agree 100%.

You have already said other girls are making money with the format he is playing.

The dj and the music is a common scapegoat, its the easy excuse, and sometimes its true, but most times its not,and its the girl who needs to change up her hustle in some way.
other girls will look completely bored and get tipped.
From what i remember of your past postings, your a woc right??
Often times, from what i have seen, with no intentions of offending or pissing anyone off,in many big clubs, the blond with big tits who just lays on stage makes more stage money then the woc who are actually putting everything into thier show. Not saying thats the problem,it depends on the area and club, results may vary.
this is a big club too and there is 1 other girl with my type of look who does well on stage- with not even half the effort i put in.
I would watch what she does before and after her set on stage, learn her secrets.
Then with double her effort on stage, this should help.

I have known many girls who suck at stage tips, but rock in VIP,just like i have known many girls who make great stage tips(a dollar at a time)and couldnt sell a VIP to a perv with a hundred dollar bill in one hand and his boner in the other.

Who goes home with the most money, and do you think they care about stage tips?

In many big clubs, stage sucks, its just a "showcase"for dancers so the guys in the room can get a look at who they want to take back to the VIP.Many times its not just 1-5 girls on stage with you,but 50-100 at the same time(AC/NJ mid 90's,forgot the name of the club.100 girls on stage at the same time,20 custies!ACK!!!!It was like watching a hockey match with all the elbows flying, shoulder checks, and all out hair pulling, just to get to the front of the stage where the tippers were).
In some clubs, stage tips dont mean a thing!

I have seen girls loose thier minds at the end of thier stage set because they only made a buck.

man they get pissed and often times go the fuck off or show alot of attitude.

anyone ever seen this at thier club lololol?????
    Bad move imo.
The guys that see you (not you, girls in general)loosing your ass wont really change thier tipping habbits for you on your next set, they are not all going to rush up and give pity tips, and you (not you)forgot about 1 very important thing.....

    that 1 dollar.

(i hear all the prima donnas loading guns and gathering up a collective"fuck you MnM")

yea yea yadda yadda fuck me<yawn>.

    Hear comes the....
"I dont shake my ass for no fuckin dollar"
"I dont show my tits for no dollar"
"why should i do shit for 1 dollar, the cheap bastids!"

A "tip",even just a buck tossed on stage is more like a calling card.

It says "Im interested"more times then it does"here you earned this".
(you get the "here you earned this" from the support staff, not the people you will be making money off of)

That 1 guy, tipping that 1 dollar, can be the #1 spending custie of the night.
(till he see's the girl loose her ass, then he becomes as interested as the rest of the guys, who didnt tip you)

Now if you go up on stage and dont even make that 1 buck, and you have a roomfull of custies,im guessing its more then just the music she should be looking at,probably the last thing actually.

Some gals dance to music that I enjoy, but if they're not my type, I turn my chair towards another stage. My ATF dances to Creed sometimes whom I absolutely can't stand, but she gets tipped, and later sells me a few dances.

    Bingo.

If more dancers in clubs would comprehend this little dynamic, they might make better money from their stage sets, even if they don't neccesarily make it while on stage. Sometimes that measely little buck can multiply X 20, or 50, or 100+ times if a dancer goes over to the tipper's table after her set, says thanks, and asks if he would be interested in a dance.

x hits the spot! Stage is your billboard. The club I work at country is required every 3 songs.I hate it and dont get into it. A pro gets in to the crowd with body language and having a fun, sexy personality.

Just like your acting on the floor the same applies to stage. If you move like it's your favorite song, the customer tips you like your their favorite dancer.

If other dancers in the rotation bitch about tips, keep your smile and say "Im sorry your having a bad night, it will get better" and move to the next stage. Even if you are doing shity don't let the customers know that .The happy attitude attracts money!

ok, i need to clarify. i DO the smile act like it's my fav song thing. but i have overheard from customers sitting nearby: ' what the hell is this crap he's playing?' or ' she dances well, but this doesnt suit her'- i heard this from 4 different customers in one set who werent sitting near each other! yeah, i know they tip for my look, but i studied this over a few weeks with two different djs. one plays good stuff that gets the crowd moving- good stage tips, the other plays whiny crap w no beat- bad stage tips- even if i move just as well and smile. the stuff puts the crowd to sleep. it's occured over the past 2-3 weeks. i did notice another thing w the 2nd dj- the girls were doing well because just their regs tipped them! i did hear another girl bitch about the 2nd dj the other night- she makes no tips on stage w him either.

I have experienced this before- music DOES make a difference.

Can't you just talk to him straight up? ("I don't like this music, please don't play it"). Bring in your own CDs? Adjust your style, maybe? I know you might not want to, but $ is $, and if adjusting your style brings in more $, maybe it's worth it?

    God I love strippers!!!!!!!

If they ARE making money, the dj has Nothing to do with it.

If they AINT making money, the dj has everything to do with it.

To say they cant have it both ways is a waste of time, its a strippers world,we just live in it.

You might just be like me--I've never been a huge stage moneymaker. Sometimes I'll do well up there, but generally I don't worry about it because I make my money on the floor--and after all, I would rather be better at getting it $20 at a time than $1 at a time.

Ask him to play your songs. If he doesn't then scale back your tip amount.

He will get the message and wil most likely play some of your requests, even if it is just mixed in with what he apears to "want" to play for you.

When he starts to play your requests then go back to your usual tip but not untill he plays some of your requests.

Remember a good DJ works with you and gets tipped well.
And a crappy DJ gets the min. tipout allowed

^^^^^^^ehhhhhh this doesnt really work in the real world.

If 1 girl out of 30 scales back her tipout, the dj doesnt really feel it,and in the outside chance this is the problem, guess what, its not cured.

Well it has worked for me several times. I've also seen it work for other dancers . And this is in clubs who run way more than 30 dancers too.
