Good Luck! I wanna quit too. It's just so hard!

Good luck to you Colleen!I hope it works. If it does,I'm going to go do the same.I've quit before for as long as a year, feeling great, but started back up again.I'm worried about the weight gain, although not everybody goes through that. Now I only smoke at work,4 night a week (3 days a week are smoke free).
If you feel any difference, please,I would like to know the details of how one goes through a hypnosis like that-the length, price and any particular requirements.Good luck again and thanks in advance.
Good luck Colleen!!!!!![]()
I hope it worked for you
I've been smoke free for 3 weeks now (cold turkey w/ the Zyban)![]()

After abstinence for a week or so, the physical addiction is gone. Then it is the psychology of the habit that remains; I think that is the hard part really.
My GF tried hypnosis and it worked for about 2 weeks. She is down to 1-2 a day, but can't seem to stop completely. She already has smoking-related health problems too.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

Yep.It takes a whole year to truely break a habit. That's why people can quit smoking for 3 months and be doing so good and then start back up again. You have to find something to replace your habit with.
hi colleen! it's been 5 days, how's it going? details details! i have thought about the hypnosis, i would love to hear about your results from it. fill us in girlie!
Oh, I musta took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

On Day 7, I still have not had any cravings! The first day, every time I went outside, I kept thinking, "Oh, this is a perfect time to grab a smoke!" but that was mostly just habit I think. I have had no cravings. I was a little tired for a couple of days, but that happened when I tried other methods of quitting, too. I think it was just my body getting used to not having the stimulants in my system.
I thought it would be sooooo hard not to smoke at work, but it really does not bother me very much. Cigarette smoke smells different to mje now, and I know this is directly because of the hypnotic suggestion I was given regarding not inhaling poinsionous gasses.
The session was 2 hours long. The first part was just an introduction to hypnosis, told how it works, gave some suggestions for a better experience, etc. The second part was the hypnosis itself. I remember most of it. Many of the suggestions were very simple, but powerful. For example, he emphasised that cigarette smole is poisin gas, and told us that we would now be appalled at the thought of inhaling poisin gas. ANd so on. He told us that we would now be in touch with our naturlal instincts concering air and breathing, that we would now gain a small but real pleasure from breathing clean fresh air, etc.
He also gave us some home reinfircemetn instructions and a few things to read.
The first session is $98, if at any time I need a second session, the reinforcement will be $68.

It is a heck of a job to start smoking, with the coughing, swelling, eyes, constant smelling and tasting it. Plus all the real-life negative aspects you eventually get used to.
Most, but not all, long term smokers I've talked to sincerely regret that they ever started.

I had a friend who tried this technique and it worked but only for two weeks. But every person is different so here's hoping this works for you ! If not keep trying. You can quit !

Colleen, thanks for the update!Hopefully it will keep working, let us know.I'm thinking about going to find something similar here in DC.

Colleen, good luck to you. I looked into it and it's given at my local community college, but I just missed it. Maybe I'll try it next semester. Keep us posted on the long range because I'd love to try it.
Just a little scared about hypnosis though. What if they're a bunch of jokesters and I wind up acting like a chicken everytime I hear a bell or something? LOL

So far it is going well for me. The first thing I thought wehn I left the session and got back in my car was"I am finally free."
Now my skin looks better and I breahte easier. I don't feel so crabby and mean when I wake up in the mornings.
The worst thing that has happened so far is that I (stupidly) gave myself permission to slip back into some old bad habits I was trying to break at the same time I was trying to quit smoking. My logic was, I can't give up smoking , wine, caffine, and chocolate all in the same week. Now I have lost ground in other ways.
The first week I coughed a lot, clearing out my lungs. That is mostly over now, and I feel very normal. The sight of cigarettes or people smoking does not bother me. I truely hate getting smoke up my nose now, and I actaully go out of my way to avoid it.
I would really recomend this method to anyone.

Find a "smoking cessation" support group if you are really wanting to be successful with ceasing smoking. It can be online or off-line the support group, just find it.
All the successful long term non-smokers (not never-smokers like myself) I've spoken with over the years credit SUPPORT as one the major ingrediants in helping someone quit and stay quit.
Just remember, all it takes is just one cigarette to cease being a non-smoker. That one cigarette one week eventually turns into more the next week...

Bikini Girl--
So far, so good. It is weird to see other peoples' cig's lying around and not want them. But I am still not smoking. I did have a few cravings again, biut I just took some time out and did the "homework" which is really a mini self-hypnosos, and I am OK now.
The worst thing I have to deal with now is that other peoples smoke has become absolutely nauseating to me (One of the hypnotoc sugestions I was given) and it is a bit of a nuscience at work where I am constantly getting somebody's smoke in my face.

I'm glad you're doing good collen. I, on the other hand have started up again after being free for one and half monthsIt was because of the support. Last time i started again after 3 months of being smoke free because my husband was still smoking. This time he tried to quit too but didn't make it long and now eventually the temptation got to strong for me and I started again. Support !support! support is key.......Funny thing is when he was sneaking them and I didn't know I was doing great. But as soon as I found out he was smoking I caved in.

Yeah. It is SOOOO hard being around other smokers. Every time I have started up again (about 4 times, I think), it has been b/c I have been around other people who smoked. It is easy wehn you are not around other smokers.

Yeah, for me personally it was that my hubby was smoking though. Because we have 2 roommates and they smoke but that didn't bother me. I guess my personal boundries helped me there. I would never even think of asking or just taking one of their smokes.....but when the hubby had them for some reason it was different.
thanks for the update colleen, glad you are still doing good with it. i wanted to ask, have you seen any improvemtent w/your skin since you quit? ppl always say their skin looks better after quitting but does that take a while to show? just curious.
