I soak mine in hot water and bought a heating pad for when it gets bad, this seems to help quite a bit. I've always had achyness when it gets cold and all the helps is heating it back up.
I've even used hot socks from the drier and sat by heaters.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..
One of my bodybuilder friends turned me on to this stuff:
Muscle Wonder Spray
I use it for sore joints and achey muscles.![]()
Never Sit On What You Can Sell.
That wonder spray is amazing another great thing(I discovered this for my back and knees) is Deep Heating Patches you can keep them on for up to two hours and they feel great they also have them as a cooling as well.
Taking glucosamine is a good start. However it will take like 6-8 weeks I believe before you can tell the effects. It is very good for your joints. I recommend taking a new product called Joint Juice, it has a lot of glucosamine plus Vitamin C too. Its a small drink. Its not too bad.
Other ways to help your ankles, everytime you wake up in the morning, put a hot pad on it. Everytime you go to bed, ice it. That also helps the pain. If possible, rest it for a few days too. Maybe consider some ankle braces to wear at some points during the day to relieve some of the stress.
I have my share of injuries from sports.
I would definately see a physio about this if I was you. It can be damagig to put hot or cold on to an injury depending on what it is. I think that if its a muscular strain then it needs heat but if its to do with joint or bone damage then it should be cold. Its prob best to get it checked out anyway. I had a similar problam with one of my knees, it popped out of its socket a few times while I was exercizing or on the pole. It hurt like hell but I just put it down to wear and tear and years of dancing. The masseuse who works on my back sent me to see a physio after I mentioned it in passing one day. She had a look at it and told me that my knee joint was actually in not bad shape but the muscels around it were too week for the battering I was putting my knees through and therefore couldnt hold the joint in place. She gave me some exercizes and a few months later hey presto! strong knees and no more agonising pain. You never know, there might be something you can do to sort your ankle too.
