    Default Cash course in Burlesque?

Ok, so I agreed to do a couple of burlesque shows for a charity event...nevermind that I've never danced specifically 'burlesque' before!

Does anyone have links to video that shows how it's done, or even written instructions? I'm a pretty good dancer, I don't figure it'll be that hard to pull off (I have the costumes), so I really just need a template-

    any help appreciated!

old movies would be a good place to start.
there is a movie about Gypsy Rose Lee that if i remember has some dance scens.
Gentlamen Perfer Blondes with marilyn monroe .
I can't really think of them all , but really any old musical will have what your looking for. the old movies are what made me want to be a stripper.

burlesque just has more tease. just don't wast your money on the carmen electra DVD's the best moves are shown on the little clip on her site.

Check out this article from my hometown.

You'll do great! The main thing with burlesquers is that they incorporate a lot of humor into their shows as well as glamour. The shows are less about getting naked and more about dancing in a sexy manner.

If you would like to come south a little bit, I have shows you can do. It won't pay like club work, but you get a lot more money per hour then club work generally. Unfortunately, you only wor an hour or two per show!

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

there was an hbo documentry called "pretty things" about old burlesque dancers that was on not long ago. It was more about people but showed a lot of examples of costumes and clips from their routines maybe you can find a copy.

Damn, Scarlett, if I wasn't getting ready to catch a plane I would send you some video of the shows I've done. We did an all-female (audience and performers) burlesque show last summer and it was a blast. Basically, put a lot more humor and attitude into the dancing; a lot more bumping and hip shaking and shimmying--ideally you should have tassels and fringe to toss around on your costumes. It's "bigger" than stripping in a club. I think you should do fine winging it; you have an advantage coming from Canada where the dancers are still expected to do shows. Have fun!

Thanks guys! I'm considering getting some fans and learning to do a fan dance- I think that would be awesome, and a good investment too- I can then do fan dances every once in awhile for my regular shows.

I will def. check out all the links above, and rent some old flicks. I'll be videotaping it too, so I'll post it on SW afterwards
