    Default The Master Cleanser

    Has anyone here done this?

It's basicall also known as the "lemonade diet" and even though I'm not one for fad diets, apparently you drink a concoction of fresh-squeezed lemon juice, grade B maple syrup and a pinch of cayenne pepper. You're supposed to stay on this for a minimum of 10 days.

Even though most people lose weight on this, it's in the minority of reasons I'm doing it. I've gained about 5 pounds since I quit dancing and with my new job I have to go for business dinners at least weekly, most of them at top restaurants where the food is typically quite rich.

Also, while I was semi-retired, I just spent a lot of time going out and drinking.

This cleanse supposedly detoxifies your entire system and people report feeling great afterwards. I'm thinking it's worth a shot and am thinking of starting this weekend.

    Feedback?

I bought the book for a dollar, it's available on Amazon for $5. The title is "The Master Cleanser". It's a pretty slim volume and a quick read, but it's important to follow the directions, especially when you're coming off the cleanse.

I did it for nine days and went from 160 to 148 (I'm a guy). It's great for three days: You'll lose two or three pounds and feel cleansed and lighter. But don't go beyond that. When you start having...uh, liquid stools (sorry) then your system is clean.

The book recommends ten or 12 days but I regret doing it for nine (I was trying to cure a chronic skin condition) because I lost muscle mass and have felt weaker overall, since.

Hunger is not a big issue after the first 24 hours. And the the concoction tastes good. Use organic ingredients if you can. It's great, just be moderate.

It is a good cleanse if u can do it for 10 days bravo. But if you normaly eat alot of sugar I wouldn't recomend this because your pancreas may not be in good shape so you would have more problems by surcharging it . If you want to do a real good cleanse I would suggest a juice one or a vegetable soup one, vegetable soup made of only vegetable boiled in water would be the best but if you really don't like it u can make it with broth.

I knew someone who did this 'cleanse" a few times. She got to day 7 the first time and had enough. She did lose a few pounds and it was ok, the other times I know she did it, she only went for 5 days and felt that was worth it with decent results.

I've tried this and hated it. You are also supposed to drink a huge warm glass of Eptsom salt water every morning.

Make sure a toilet is nearby you exactly an hour after drinking it or you'll be sorry.

I could tolerate the lemon concoction but this Epston salt water was HORRIBLE. Made me want to vomit after the third gulp. And were not talking a little cup here ladies................uugghh.

I've swallowed worse things in my life , but this was unbearable. LOL

I just did this about a month ago. I was a bit skeptical but I thought it'd be good to try and a good jump start. I lasted for eight days and went from 135lbs to 122lbs. I'm currently at 125lbs. To me, it's basically a do it yourself colonic. I lost weight and my waist got 2 inches smaller but I didn't lose much fat in my thighs. It's true that much of the weight is water. That said I'm still much smaller than when I started. If I do it again, it'd definately be for four days max. After two days you stop having regular bms and what comes out is sort like butt pee (or butt vomit if you do the salt water flush). Yeah, I know- tmi. And it feels really weird and less than pleasent. The only big benefit I think it has is that it really does flush things out- my colon just feels like it's less clogged and I feel much better.

Oh and you can drink the laxative tea in the morning instead of the salt water flush- I did that once and that was enough for me. The bad thing is that the laxative takes a long time to work so if you'll have to use a public toilet if you can't stay home or take it really early in the morning.

I've done the laxative tea. I like the taste of it. I take it around 9 at night and first thing in the morning I know where I'lm gonna be.

I tried this Master Cleanse for 1 day. Thats all I could do. Total lbs lost ZERO.

This really doesn't sound like it's good for you. I'm all for including as much organic raw vegetables in your diet as possible, getting the occasional colonic - but fasts are a cute word for starvation. 400 - 600 calories per day is not healthy. You won't burn fat; you'll burn muscle tissue, you may end up with a serious electrolyte imbalance.

I tried this for two days and was freaked out by the smell my body was putting off. If you have the time to stay home and are a trooper, go for it. The cayenne also burns you good.

For the Master cleanse, I do it four times a year for a 12 day strech. I love it! For the maple syrup health food stores is where I usually find it. Also in terms of the salt water bath and the laxitive tea i drink the tea before bed and then drink the salt water right when i get up. I use sea salt with a little bit lower concentration than waht is in the book (just add more water) and i find with the sea salt (iodine free) it tastes like broth from a soup, i just warm it up a bit and its fine. Also at first i wasn't sure about downing that much cayenne but my doctor just told me to take it in pill for if it was too hot for me and it worked out really well. This is something that i would really reccomend to anyone who has a case of the body blahs.

Grade b maple syrup can be found in health food stores. In Canada, we call it number 2 dark. There is also a number 3 dark, which is very high in minerals. The higher the number, the better it is for you.
I did this cleanse a few times, haven't done it for years. Don't recall losing weight, but I did feel good. Longest on it was seven days. It was weird not having to prepare meals though...I found I had a lot of extra time while I was doing the cleanse.

My mom just did Dr. Schultz's cleanses, and it "cured" her cataracts (the specialist that her eye doctor had referred her to was like, "what cataracts?").
