    Default Clicky Joints

Anyone know anything about clicky joints? I've noticed this a lot the past 3-4 months and I don't know why. There's no pain or discomfort, just this clicking noice. Most in my wrists and elbows and knees. Not really anywhere else. What the hell causes this? Should I be running to a doctor since this started out of nowhere? I mean, it's even if I'm fanning myself with my hand.

I have the clickiest joints ever. Mostly my hip/ femur joints and my shoulders sometimes... they click all the time, with very little provocation... most embarassingly at work while giving LDs... heh.

Anyway I've been to a doctor and I've been told that it's not dangerous. I grew very quickly when I was younger (wound up with a bunch of stretch marks too), which 1 doctor speculated was the reason for my clicking joints (they've been bad since puberty, but they've gotten distinctly worse). the phenomenon can be caused by air pockets in the cartilige (sp?) that holds joints together, resulting from rapid growth... like, your bones grew really fast and your cartilige didn't have time to knit around them. i haven't had this corroborated by any other doctor, though, so I could be way off the mark. Unfortunately I don't think it gets better, either. But I'm pretty sure it's not dangerous.

Try cod liver oil. i have the same problem but taking 2-3 capsuals a day really seems to help. Youll have to do this for a couple of weeks before you notice a difference. I also read that cod liver oil makes you smarter so theres an added bonus!!

My ankle constantly clicks when I work out. Very irritating. I can even feel it sticking and then "popping". Doesn't hurt, but frustrating when doing squats, etc.

Sorry, no suggestions for helping to fix it, I just live with it.

I know exactly what your talking about. I like to surprise my B/f when he's in bed or try to easdrop in his conversations but as soon as I walk up those damn stairs, even ever so quietly my knees are a dead giveaway. "click. click"..."click. click"

Thanks for all your replies ... looks like I may have to live with this. When I get a chance, I'll search on the web a little more and let you know if anything works to stop it a little. It's really annoying.

Clicking jaw = TMJ (Temporomandibular joint). It's when there's a bad alignment, and usually is a result of cleaching of grinding teeth. I had a second round of braces and a bite plate to lessen it (the bone's so scarred that it'll never go away). Somehow, the clicking stopped a fre months ago but flares up again if I'm stressed.

I don't think you have anything to worry about until that clicking becomes painful. My shoulders, elbows, jaw (grind teeth) back, and hips pop constantly. I can do a whole set of bench presses and click every time. The only places that it's painful are my back and hip; but I also injured them, so. If you start feeling pain, go to the Dr. Other than that, click away!

I used to have clicking/crackling joints.......but i've recently started to find that drinking alot more milk(i used to never really drink any milk) has really helped with the problem and now they don't click or crack anymore.
