I've already made a few posts but I thought I'd share my weird first night story. I just sort of walked in and started and no one told me what I was supposed to do. It was so strange and confusing.
I had been thinking about dancing on and off for a few months. I'm in grad school and am paying out of state tuition as well as taking out loans for living expensesand every time my mind began wandering to how much money I'm going to owe when its all done with, I began feeling this horrible paralyzing anxiety.
I've done adult entertainment before. One summer a few years ago I worked as a dominatrix in a dungeon in Chicago. Despite that experience though, I still felt really nervous about taking the stripping thing on.
But I kept thinking about it and I found this forum which was incredibly encouraging and I realized that inorder to really create any type of closure for my new obsession with stripping, I needed to get over my fear and just give it a try.
I started looking into places that were a nice distance from where I live and called them up to see what they're hiring procedure was. I was to nervous to try any high-class clubs, so I focused on mid-tier type places. One place I called said that you just show up at the beginning of a shift 11:30 for a day shift or 7:30 for night shift and ask to speak to a hiring manager for an audition. I knew that more than anything, I just needed to get it over with so went there the next night.
I wasn't sure what to expect so I brought a bag of stuff with me (my old dominatrix shoes came in handy!). When I first pulled into the parking lot, like a big dork I pulled out of my spot thinking I should drive around for another few minutes, but stopped myself and just parked in another spot.
When I walked in the door the bouncer was sitting there and I asked him if a hiring manager was available. After checking my ID he looked around and pointed out the DJ as someone I should talk to.
I went over and he explained that the hiring manager hadn't arrived yet (he also checked my ID again). So I sat and waited a little bit, but the DJ came over again and asked me if I was ready to dance that night. I said I was, so he told me to go to the dressing room and put my outfit on.
When I went back there I was to nervous to really say anything to the girls who were alos getting ready and just put my outfit and heels on. When I came back out, the DJ told me that the manager still hadn't arrived but that he was sure I'd get the 'ok because I wasn't fat' and he put me on the rotation for the stage. He gave me a few ground rules about tip-out, how the rotation works and that I should never say no to a customer offering to buy me a drink.
It was totally bizarre. No one gave me any guidance and I just went up there when I was called. Overall I didn't find the stage work to difficult. I always liked dancing, plus its easier to get half naked when all the girls around you are doing it to.
I spent the rest of the night figuring out exactly what it was I was supposed to do. Apparently my "audition" went well because I kept getting called up on stage and I didn't figure out till the end of night who the manager actually was!
I spent a lot of the night observing to get a better sense of my environment. My first dance came when some guy turned to me and said he'd like a dance. I hesitated for a moment because no one had told me what exactly I'm supposed to do but then followed him back to the lap-dance room and it went pretty well. He kept his hands to himself and when I asked him how he would rate his dance he said it was an 8, which I was pretty happy with for my first dance.
Overall, the night went pretty well. I only made $110 after tip-out, but I know I have a lot to learn, especially when it comes to hustling.
Has anyone else had an experience like this? Where you just walk in and they tell you to start? I went through this ambiguous phase where it was like so I guess I'm hired without anyone actually telling me I was. After talking to various other girls throughout the night and then later verifing with the DJ there is no schedule whatsover at this club. You just show up whenever you want, as long as its at the begining of a shift. They also give insentives to girls who work a lot by pre-reduding their tip-off when they come in on certan nights.
