    Default Protein Shakes, what kind?

Well, still tryin' to gain/stabalize weight. What kind of protein shakes/drinks are good, & taste good? I'll get a case! I bought today, from Vitaminshoppe, Adkins (on sale) they only had couple good flavors left in the sale section. Maybe the powder is better, to mix in juice?

Muscle Milk shakes taste the best (from what I've found). They have a huge variety of flavors, and they're great for your bod. You can get them from a lot of place, especially www.bodybuilding.com.

Heh, hit a military surplus store and buy up the protein shake packets made for US military MREs. My brother hooked me up with extras from his drill weekends and they are bomb, even without milk.

I have sweet whey powder for shakes, but it turns into pudge if you don't work it off quick.

The best one I've tried so far (no fat, low carb) is Primaforce's Substance WPI (Whey Protein Isolate) watermelon flavor. The one Crissychan mentioned is good too, I believe she's talking about the fuzzy navel flavor.

I agree with Alpha_Male...get the whey protein isolate. I get the unflavored one by NOW off of netrition.com. You can mix it with water, juice or milk and throw in whatever type of fruit you like for a yummy smoothie.

I drink the Apex Fit Drink Mix in chocolate found here:

    www.apexfitness.com

At first I was worried that it would be gross, but it's really tasty-tastes just like a chocolate milkshake!

RTD's like Muscle Milk have a ton of calories & protein, but they are also full of saturated fat as well....ALOT of saturated fat.
There are better choices out there with alot less fat, but plenty of protein (>30gms). I like Myoplex & Met-Rx. They are tasty RTD shakes that are low in carbs, low in calories, and pretty decent in protein (20-35gms).

My latest fave place to review stuff (especially nutritional info) on protein bars & shakes is www.bodybuilding.com

Actually you can use Muscle Milk both to gain weight and lose weight, it depends on how you use it. Granted it does have 18 fat (8 saturated) per serving, but the fats that they use are actually the kind that increase energy and help to burn existing fat. I wouldn't do more than 1 shake a day, if you do, the calories do start adding up. Even with that said I still avoid it because I've been "programed" to stay away from high fats.

Yesterday I bought Ensure + from CVS Pharm. for my mom in vanilla shake flavor. It's in little reclosable bottles. They have different kinds too. I bought the one to gain/maintain weight. It tastes really good.

I drink Spirutien. It's made with spirulina algea. It doesn't taste like shit either! The chocolate is the best.

Hmmm, never heard of Apex. If you dont want to use milk, definitely go for a fruit flavored protein. I'll list my favorites in order:

Ergopharm GF Pro Pineapple Mango / Raspberry Lemonade
    Scivation Substance WPI Watermellon
    Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel/Greeen Apple
Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey - Fruit Punch

They can all be found at bodybuilding.com

I use GNC brand 100% whey protein. Mix it with milk, and you are good to go.

If you can't do whey (as the result of dairy allergies), ON's Egg Protein powder is a very good alternative. The chocolate version even tastes good. It's available at GNC.

I use "Designer Whey" found at GNC. It comes in several different flavors and has a bunch of recipes on it's website. When I decided to start drinking protein shakes, I wanted something was low on carbs/fats but also needed something that tasted good! I knew no matter how good something was for my body-I wouldn't take it if I couldn't stand the taste of it. Did a search on the "best tasting protein shakes" and then compared nutritional content... so Designer Whey it was....

I mix it with Lactaid skim milk and I'm out the door

Glad to see this thread still around, has anyone tried Andrew Lessman shakes on HSN.com?
