Default Shoes: What do you do?

I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this, but I figured it would go here since I'm new and wondering about it....(If it needs to be moved I'm greatly sorry!!)

Okay....I have some shoes, but they hurt when I wear them and rub my skin and what not...What do you girls do when you're shoes are uncomfortable? Is there anything you can do to fix them or help ease the pain?

And where do you buy your shoes from?

Well if they are the type of dancer shoes with plastic straps you could try to run a hair dryer over them for a little while to soften the plastic. Then when it is cool to the touch put them on and it will help the shoes conform to your foot a little better.

I'm sure the ladies have posted plenty of other tips in Body Business or here in the Newbie section. I'd recommend doing a quick search.

As far as buying shoes, try this site:

Don't for get to type "stripperweb" in the cupon code for an extra 10% off!

    Best of luck.

I ususally buy all my work shoes a size bigger... I wear a 7 and buy an 8 for work... That way my feet have plenty of room... And my toes don't hang over the edge...

Wear thick socks under go-go boots to start. Use foot powder & put your feet up when you can.

thanks, the blow dryer idea was really neat! I'm not to worried about my feet hurting from being in the heels, I can handle that, I'm more worried about my feet getting cut and rubbing raw and bleeding from the shoes. That's what concerns me the most. I don't think bandaids would look to great under my shoes lol.
Thanks again so much, i'll try the search and see what i come up with!

I would suggest switching ur shoes, but you will get used to them in time. After busy nights, my toes are always numb.

Another thing that I did: on some of the "plastic" shoes, they cut the vamp and toe area too long (digs into my arch or my toes). Stretching the plastic won't help. I would just get scissors or a razor blade and start trimming down the shoe. Do it in small increments so you don't OVER do it. But, that helped the best. Although I loved the look of my clear shoes, I loved my leather shoes so much better. They were more expensive, but they lasted longer...and they just felt better on my feet.

that's a great idea! I have another question now lol........what type of shoes do you wear? Are they strapless, with a strap, tie up your leg, boots? open toe or closed? what do you prefer and which are most comfortable for you?

i usually wear the clear strapless shoes... i find they look the sexiest on me.... on ocassion i will wear my white ones with straps...... I love it when other dancers wear clear.. i just think it looks awesome... Hope your feet are feeling a little better.. when you're first starting out, its hard adjusting to the pain... once you start working more, you will get used to it..... try to buy your shoes a size bigger than normal... i often wear cute knee socks with my shoes, which really stops my feet from chaffing.

Dancer shoes aren't made of leather therefore won't stretch. If they are uncomfortable when you try them on, they will always be uncomfortable.

A trick that works with plastic shoes is to carry ba smjall hairdryer with you to work nand blow dry the tight area for 30 seconds or so, then put them on. It will stretch them out and they won't be tight.

Well first off, I would suggest you not get the really strappy clear ones. Secondly I have read (on here I believe) that to ease some of the pain and discomfort of the clear plastic digging in your feet is to put the shoes on, and then take a blow dryer to it for a few seconds. This will loosen up the plastic, and let it adhere to your feet, without digging it in causing more pain.

I have a pair of Ellis shoes, and like 7 pairs (gottem on sale for $10 a piece ) of stripper shoes from http://www.krystels.biz/ so check that out and see what ya find! They have AWESOME sales from time to time.

I sometime use flesh colored tape (it doesnt glow) and tape a strip across where the end of the shoe meets my skin. This prevents the shoe from digging into my skin. This is a life saver for me when i know its going to be a busy night of dancing.

You can also cut the tabs off of clear bandaids and just use those on your raw areas. that way it's invisible, and there's no gauzy bandaid patch to tip anyone off...

I just got my first pair of shoes a few days ago. Of course i put them on right when I got home,so I could trot around the house in them. I got 5 1/2" platform slides. I tried on two different brands in the store. I was surprized that the second pair were actually more cumfy than some of the regular heels I own. However, im sure after wearing them for a 5 hour long shift, ill have changed my mind.

Excelent tips about heating up your shoes, and cutting away the plastic. I used to be a ballerina. I was wondering what sort of rituals strippers have for their shoes.

I just use plain old bandaids. I stick them to my shoe instead of to my foot so it doesn't lose its stickyness from the moisture from my feet getting hot, and I don't know what the lighting in your club is like, but I'm very pale, and you can't even see 'em, even when I'm on stage. You can kinda see the little square of gauzey stuff, but hardly even that... and I like to keep that on there and place it right where my shoes rub the most.

I noticed that one brand on me is MUCH more painful than another. I know this is an old thread but...switch brands. It's not worth it. I feel miles better after working in the better brand

If your shoes are the clear plastic ones, put them on like you were going to were them take a hair dryer and blow dry them don't let it get to hot it would burn your skin, but get it warm enough to strech and where them around the house for a couple of hours and they will form to your foot and be some of the most comfortible shoes you own, I have 5 pair and it has work on them all. GOOD LUCK

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE GALS!!!!!! I'm having problems with my shoes too! Being pretty "Imelda Marcos" myself I got a couple of different pairs of shoes. I have my clear stilettos, and I did the hair dryer thing and it's helped greatly. I also am not the most graceful gal in heels (prior to dancing if people saw me in heels or a dress/skirt I got asked "who died?" thinking I was dressing for a funeral) so I found these things called "The Silver Lining" which are pads that slip into your shoes and cushion the ball of your foot, also prevent your feet from sliding forward. Coolest thing is that instead of having to permanently place them in your shoes (some I've seen have adhesive) these "melt" from your body heat and mold into the shoes you put them in. Best of all, a whopping $2.99 for a pair!
I also alternate shoes depending on foot pain. I have an enlarged bone on my left foot that's caused problems dancing, so I alternate from a higher heel to a lower one. This is usually going from my clear shoes to my chunky heel mary janes or my boots. It's all really helped. Epsom salts work great too after a long day/night dancing!
As far as blisters, etc. I get a little stupid, but try to be cute and use the kid's type band aids like Barbie, etc. Lucky they have Hello Kitty since I'm such a HK nut! I've won a little male sympathy from this "technique". LOL

I not graiceful in heals either, but I have learned that you have to wear them all the time, cleaning, walking, all the time, everywhere, until you get used to them. That is what I am doing. It hurts from time to time, but I am walking better in heals.

^^That's what I used to do. I would put on my stripper shoes and vaccuum, do dishes, etc in them. It helped me a LOT. I too was terrbily ungraceful in heels - never wore them before I started dancing.

What is ironic that I have model all my life, then I got married so I had to quit for a little while and heels are not my friends right now, but I continue to work on it, so when I get back to the states I could start modeling again.
