I have read through many threads here, great site. I thought I would suggest a thread about state to state ways for a cutomer to act. At least how the dancers would like us to act. No one wants to be cheap but sometimes travelers don't know the local customs.
Several years ago I went to a club in upstate NY with my girlfriend, we had a great time and have been regulars since.
Typically when we sit at the stage we tip at least a dollar per song. Most clubs around here do two songs per girl. Sometimes we tip more. It's understood if you don't tip, don't sit at the stage. The move is to lay a dollar on the side of the stage and the dancer will be around to take it in various ways. that seems the usual around here. LD's are $20 a song and we usually get a few a piece and tip an extra 5 or 10 per song. We tend to get one at a time and a few different girls. We don't know if that normal or not.
We have some favorites that welcome us and are comfortable around here.
Then when visiting friends we went to a club in West Virginia. Sat up by the stage and laid our dollars down, followed by dirty looks from everyone. The dancer came over and said she can't take that. Then pulled out her garter and we carefully tucked a few dollars in it. Then she danced a little in front of us and moved on. Much different from where we are from.
Later on we went to Niagra Falls and Toronto. In Niagra Falls my girl tried to get a lap dance.. they took her money and just before it began they said the rules are no lap dances for girls. I was watching the girl onstage and my girlfriend comes out a little upset saying they said they are not allowed. The dancer came up to me with "im so sorry, im so sorry, it's my boss" etc. I could still get one but was pissed at that point. Got my money back and left.
Went to another club. This one was huge. I bet over 100 girls working. They all were giving my girl a dirty look/ evil gaze. She was the only female customer there. They also made us feel unwelcome.
We don't expect anything from the clubs. We just go with tons of money to give out and enjoy doing it. I have read on here about girls trying to get money but some clubs we go to chase away our money.
In Toronto we but canadian $5 bills on stage and everyone looked at us like we were crazy.
So my point being, maybe it should be made clear the rules or customs of the area for travelers. For people like us that want to give money and play along but don't know the traditions of the area.

! Obviously, you have every right to be annoyed with bitchy women who are just there to criticize or guard their men, but some of us are there to enjoy the show and pay well for the privilege, and you should wait and see which are which instead of writing all female customers off
