    Default fainting on stage

Do any of you girls ever get light-headed or faint on stage? When I am dancing for a couple hours I get very light headed. What should I do to end this? I am 113 and 5'3, I think that is pretty healthy. What are your weights and heights. My friend Amber is 75 pounds and 5'0, but she has tons on energy!

You may be a lil anemic baby. Go to your doctor and get a blood test. Taking iron pills is not that expensive. You don't even need a prescrip. It's like $4-5/bottle. But please make sure you get a doctors ok first. Having TO MUCH iron in your system is not good.

^ What she said. Also drink lots of water, and take a good multivitamin . . . and try eating frequent half-meals instead of 3 meals, and avoid really sugary food. Blood sugar regulation problems can knock you down.

Thanks you all! I think what they said is a great idea, and make sure they really do test your blood for anemia, and ask them if you were borderline if they tell you you aren't!

I really need to remember to eat every couple of hours other wise i get light headed and can black out. They've said that i don't have a sugar problem nor anemia but for some reason i don't believe them! (It runs in my family and i have a really hard time with the dizzyness)

Good luck and when you get that feeling maybe you can put your head down and if you're on stage take a second to do some floor work where you can relax a little bit!

Are you drinking enough water? Dancing is a strenuous physical activity, and you need to drink enough to restore what you're losing. I tend to get light-headed when I'm dehydrated.
Also, are you standing up suddenly or straightening up quickly after bending over? This can cause a rapid change in the blood pressure in the brain, and that can make you feel faint.
(And, like others have said, eat regularly and maybe get tested for anemia if nothing else works.)

Hmm... first, I would take your sexy little butt to the doctor and tell him what's happening....just to make sure nothing serious is going on... I also reccommend having the bartender make you this non-alcoholic drink three times a night...half water, half oarnge juice.. it will kep your blood sugar up. As for my weight, I am 5'1" and 95lbs... I can't imagine that your friend weighs 75 lbs holy crap!! I mean, people tell me I'm too skinny all the time, damn, 75lbs??? Also, when are you eating? I honestly, have bad eating habits, so maybe don't listen, but this works for me. Anyway.... I usually get up at about 3pm.. I work in Vegas so I don't get off til like 6 am and I go to bed at 9 am... Anyway... I go for a run right when I get up, then I come home and eat "lunch," usually like a salad with a lot of stuff on it, a sandwhich, burger, whatever. My club has food you can order, so usually after I get dressed at work I go sit at the bar and have a real cocktail, and a shrimp cocktail. (lol) I have a tuna packet, plain ( I know, gross, but has low calories) towards the middle of my shift to get some protien and energy. Also, to be honest with you, I drink at work, so I guess I'm getting calories all night long, ha-ha...... And, I know it's bad if you're trying to loose weight, but I'm not... I eat breakfast with my friends after work usually I have an egg-white omlette, with veggies and no cheese and a glass of milk. I think it's important to snack when at work because you are burning a ton of calories. Okay, tirade over! Now go to the doc and make sure you aren't anemic or whatever!

Take the other posters advice its all good stuff; water, food every 2 hrs (small amounts), lay off the alcohol in case you work with alcohol. Listen to your body.

Has this happened before? Many time or a just once? More than once or 2wice isnt good. Like CK said you could be anemic, or even hypoglycemic. Through diet and water and you are getting control of your light-headed ness please go to the doctor it might be something more serious.

I suggest eating someting very low in sugar. A little sugar goes a long way so alot of it will spike your glucose levels and leave you tired after some time.

That happened to me once too. I took too many diet pills, no water and little food almost made me fall down on stage. I got dizzy- prolly looked like I was on drugs.

Thank you for answering. I have been to the doctore for all those test! it was my parents suggestions cuz anemia runs in the family. but they said I didnt have it and i'm not even borderline. i take a prenatal pill everyday (i'm not preg or trying to have a baby) cuz sometimes i dont get all the nutriens i need a day and they are really good. like a lot of the girls i know take one once a day. i personally think i may be anemic like my mother they just havent found it yet. lol. i dont know, maybe i do too much stuff i guess. I am in school and take care of my son who is going to one next month!! life just moves soo fast.

It could be dehydration, anemia, or even low blood sugar. It could also be exhaustion. If you are not getting enough sleep per night and working your ass off, in addition to 100 other things going on in your life, it could just be that your body is getting tired.

Take notes of when it happens and what you do about it. That'll help you pin-point any problems.

I am 5'0 and weigh 97 lbs. 75 is way too low for her height!

get your potassium levels checked. people with low weight need to be very careful to maintain their potassium- sudden drops in potassium levels can lead to cardiac arrest. this is a serious problem for chronic undereaters.

The thing with sugary food is that if you eat high-sugar food and are hypoglycemic, not diabetic, the resulting "crash" is often what causes lightheadedness and fainting. Low blood sugar is caused by poor insulin regulation. A large percentage of women overproduce insulin (which lowers blood sugar) after eating high-sugar food.

It's important to get enough carbohydrates, yes, but it's recommended that you stick to things like wheat bread, where the sugar conversion rate is regular and your body uses the sugar as it needs it (not all at once and then it flushes out, like with candy.)

I faint all the time. I have a problem called vasovagal syncope. It is a heart problem. Not really common but usually occurs in young women. What you have is deffinitly not what I have but because I have this problem, I know little tricks to keep you from fainting as I can usually feel it coming on. If you are on stage when you start getting light headed, get on the floor and stick to floor work for a few moments, sometimes that will help it go away. If you start sweating, usually a cold sweat, it is time to go off stage, you probably are going down. Nausea often occurs before you actualy faint. I fyou start getting nautious be careful, exspecially if it comes with the sweat. IF the doc cant find anything wrong with you, and you should def go tell him how you have been feeling, Take these girls suggestins. Try having a snack, you shouldnt go more than 6 hrs without putting something in your body even if it is really small. a small piece of chocolate will usually do the trick. Make sure you are getting enough sleep and not exercising to much. Yes exercising is strenuous on your body and can cause this if over done.
You amy have to take it easy on stage, dont spin your head around a lot, do more floor work, and slow down a little if possible.
I have had the problem since I was a little girl, if you have any other q's pm me and ill tell you everything I know.
