    Default My cousin's best friend...

Since HS just tested positive for HIV! Turns out her husband who cheated on her, passed it on to her!!

    I am in shock.
That is just aweful! I can't imagine what she's going through right now. My cousin just called me to tell me, she's so upset as well. That's like her sister. Wow, crazy shit.

HIV is being treated successfully by drugs now. People living normal length lives now. It’s a chronic manageable disease nowadays, not a death sentence.

I know, I just wouldn't know what to tell her when I see her. I feel extremely bad.

I hear stories like these all the time, BUT would never think it can happen to someone you know.

No, not that we know of. My cousin told me that the husband was with several girls & probably doesn't even know who gave to him!

I'm wondering if her friend can sue him for that?? I'm pretty sure.

God, if I were in her position.... I think i'd kill him.

Kristina Lee, I agree. I know that the drugs we have now are better and all, but the point is...this is a fucked up way to get it.

I know how you feel. My husband's brother was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Only 2 places in the world have knowledge how to treat it. I was deployed when my husand found out so it was very hard to console him through e-mail. And it was very hard on him. And the research my husband did on the cancer wasn't much encouragement either. It said he had a 50/50 chance.

Very hard for us esp. since his brother is one of the sweetest guys you'll ever meet. Doesn't it always work that way???

Setting aside the fact that it's an incredibly expensive disease to treat, you're a social pariah after you know you have it. Sadly, the fact that HIV is becoming more treatable has people getting sloppy and lax about sexual practices--especially young gay urban males.

Protease inhibitor cocktails or no, AIDS still kills people dead.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.
