Sad Need help with my hair...

Never let family members color your hair...
My lil sister is in beauty school, and needed to work on some people to get credit for class so I figured "what the hell, I`ll let her do my hair". She`s been coloring her hair for years, so I figured she knew what she was doing.

I started out with very light blonde hair, wanted to go to a dark blonde with lighter blonde highlights.
My hair ended up grayish-green, then she had to do a dark, dark browish/redish to cover the mistake. I hate it - it`s way too dark for me.

I went to a salon to see if they would bleach it back blonde, but they said they wouldn`t do it becouse it would damage my hair. But that`s what I really want...my light blonde hair back.

Do you think if I found somewhere that would do it that it`s a bad idea? I don`t want my hair to fall out, but I can`t see going back to work with a color I`m not happy with - I need all the confidence that I can get right now.

    Thanks!

It can be done but keep in mind you're gonna cough up a a nice amount of change to get it fixed. You need to go see a color specialist, not just a regular hairstylist because what you're trying to do is serious. Ask your sisters instructor for a recommendation and take her along with you so she can get some tips. You also have to keep in mind the condition your hair was before you started, if they can't lighten it right now respect their wishes. Also run dont walk to sally beauty and pick a bottle of aphogee protein treatment, aphogee moisturizer, and some type of hot oil, ask the cashiers there if you need help. Do at least one treatment before you even got to the salon so it will be stronger to handle to process.Btw, follow the instructions to the letter. Boy I remember those days in beauty school.

Yes, a SKILLED stylist will be able to strip your hair of the colour junk you've got on it now...and then dye over top of that until the colour you want is reached.
It sounds like your sis made your hair into an ash blonde nightmare! lol
But anyways, your hair is gonna be damaged no matter which way you slice it...so make sure to pick up a really good deep conditioner (As Sinnamon said) and see if the salon you go to has a conditioning treatment they can do on site, when they fix your hair (salons sometimes have really potent, professional conditioning treatments that are better than store bought ones...I just recently bleached out my entire head and they put on a kick ass deep conditioning treatment <I think it was L'Oreal proffessional, but whatever>).
I'd also suggest to get a fairly substantial trim (as much as you can handle) since your ends are gonna be pisssssssed at you.
Once your hair is back to the way you want, try to lay off the heat styling as much as possible...if you have to do it for work and stuff, invest in a good heat styling protectant (Matrix makes a few good ones) and don't wash your hair everyday.
OH and just in case, do not perm.
Hope your hair gets fixed soon!

Yea salons do that. They will strip the colour off. A (sorta) friend just went through the same thing. The salon made her sign her life away she said! But the hair is now blonde and VERY dry. So be careful.

I also have died my hair very very dark, and went back light blonde a few days later. But did this at home.

I SWEAR by hot olive oil treatments. Seems the bigger the pain in the ass hair care is, the better results i get!!!

    Good luck,

    Pamela

I am a colorist... There are really good products now that will strip the color off without much damage to your hair.. Just go to the best salon or else you could end up with no hair at all.. Suggest that a hairstylist recommended Rusk ELiminate.. Ask them if they use that or have something similar!! Good luck!!

My mom did that to me the night before my senior pictures! I'm a natural blonde but she wanted to give me highlights, and I wound up with green tiger-stripes on my head. I had to go with this terrible dark brunette to cover it up and now everyone who sees my senior picture thinks I'm a fake blonde. *sigh*

This can be fixed, but it will cost you a LOT of money. You need to call a really upscale salon and book an appointment with a colorist, not a regular stylist. And you'll have to condition the holy hell out of your hair for a long time until it grows out completely. Otherwise it will break. I'd suggest one of those mayonnaise-looking conditioners that comes in a tub every other day, and a hot oil treatment at least once a week, but run that by the colorist first.

Good luck! And yeah, never let little sis touch your hair again, at least not until she gets her license and some more experience!

i stripped my own hair just a few weeks ago... aside from drying out my scalp (which shall return to normal), it removes most recent hair dyes (they claim all hair dyes... but it only works or recent applications on me). i just went to sally beauty salon, and left it on in two 20 minute batches... if anything it should at least take out the awful green color.

Rusk Eliminate. That's what I use on my clients who come in with some tragic looking color. Good luck . MOISTURIZE

And I know your sister is in school for this and all, but I don't think it would be too, too unreasonable to ask her for some help in paying for the fix.

Hydro-Active Hair Masque by Biolage (Matrix). Its in a tub and is really thick (think clay face mask). I love it because it coats and softens the hair so I dont have to use conditioner (which makes my hair greasy) Great for over processed/dry/damaged hair.
