    Default Strippers Needed!

Hello. I am a student at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. I am doing some research on strippers and the profession of stripping. If you would be willing to participate in an interview and you live in the Tacoma area, please contact me. I would like male and female strippers. Thank you!

^^^ No, lol he orig had it in Stripping forum, but I think they moved it.

Robillen, since your school is a Lutheran Univ. I take it your paper will not exactly be pro-exotic dancer...correct?

My research is about stripping; my paper will not be pro or against exotic dancing. It will be about what I learn from my interviews. And I am a female if that makes any difference. No, I cannot pay anyone, sorry! I wish I had a budget, but this is for class so I don't. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

^^ And some are even grad students and some are even teachers and lawyers.

I have an idea Robillen, why don't you post the interview questions in the forum. I think more people would be willing to work with you more.

Tell you what, go to a Strip Club (SC), and start asking the ladies there
questions, they will have plenty of time to answer them.

    Yeah, right.

Hey, got a great idea, why don't you apply for a job as a dancer
at a SC? That way, you can experience it first hand and upfront.

Yeah, sort of like "I was a Teenage Zombie for the FBI" kind of
    experience.

Thank you for the idea, I just might do that. I need to talk to my professor about it first. I chose this as my research topic because I think being an exotic dancer is so interesting and I just wanted to learn more about it. If anyone has any other ideas for me, please let me know. Thanks!

Hey! I am approaching my paper deadline and NEED participants for my interviews. If anyone lives in the Tacoma area or knows anyone who does live in this area, PLEASE contact me! I have worked so hard on the project and I want to see it be successful! I am interested in why women are exotic dancers and how they do it. All interviews are confidential and if you want to contact Pacific Lutheran University to make sure I am ligitiamte, I can give you the information to do so. All interviews will take place in a semi-public place (like a Starbucks) to ensure saftey for me and for you. If you can help me out, please let me know! Thank you so much! All of you who are college students can relate to my growing panic about my deadline, so please help me out if you are at all able. Thank you!!!!!

Why do your study participants need to be local--I think you will get better responses if you post your questions here. I would be willing to help you--but I live too far away.

I agree, I think you would best benefit from posting your questions here. We are all willing to give you answers but we are also limited by distance, time constraints, etc. If you want, you could certainly PM some of us if you need more details. Or search the site.

A church school, heh, I imagine you are intending to give your professor a heart attack.....

My school is a liberal arts college and when I say it is liberal, it is VERY liberal...just because we are affiliated with the Lutheran Church, doesn't mean much. I may post my questions or send them in an e-mail as there are a lot of them...I mainly want the interviews to be in person so I can get indepth answers. Thank you so much to all who are willing to do this over the internet, it may come to that if I cannot secure more in-person interviews.

Robillen - if you discussed this with your professor I'm sure that she or he told you how to appropriately conduct this sort of research. One element is informed consent - give us some idea of what you are doing, your hypothesis, the slant and purpose of your research, what you are hoping/expect to expose or explicate and those who are interested with contact you.

If you are in first year and have never done this before, perhaps this kind of original research can wait until you have take a research methods class - interviewing is a notoriously tricky arena for research, and is easily discounted especially by undergraduate professors. Plus unless you have fair amounts of cash and time you are unlikely to uncover anything of significance that is not already catalogued. You would probably do better just going to a library.

I am a third year student and this is not my first research project. I have taken a meathods class, so I know how to conduct an in-depth qualitative interview. I have also gone through HPRB approval for this project and have consent forms for my participants...anything else you want to question about my credibility or ability?

Robillen, you really need to re-read Jenny's suggestion. I think the ladies of SW will be more than willing to help you out, if they know that you are going to be doing a "positive" paper. There are so many negative topics discussed when people talk about exotic dance. I for one, do not want to be included in another negative view of this industry.

Actually, I find this funny because you are NEW here and you come on here wanting to do in-person interviews and you've given us, basically, NO INFORMATION WHAT-SO-EVER on who you are, what you want (besides interviews) and what your aim is in doing so.

Do you think we could go back to your school and say, "Excuse me missus, robillen is writing a paper and I would like to know that he/she is legit." You're on the interenet cloaked in anonymity...

So, yes, I'm sure a lot of ladies here have a lot more questions about your credibility and your ability. Nothing personal...but geezus.

    Calm down.

Robillen - I don't question people's credibility. I don't know, there is no way to know and I won't bother preoccupying myself with an issue that can have no finality or closure. I just assume that everyone is pretty much telling the truth unless it really, really stretches credulity.

However. You can't possibily think it is reasonable to make a general request for interviews and then get offended and snooty when someone asks you about your methods and project. The women here aren't rubes who have never been out of the trailer park. They want to know what they are getting themselves into. Simply telling us that you are "writing about what you learn in the interviews" is very, very vague. Asking for your methodology and indeed, qualifications is not unreasonable.

Yes, these are things i'm curious about:
    1. If the mods allowed, why not start a "Robillen's Research Project" thread in the ladies only section and ask some questions there?
    2. Have you been in a strip club in Tacoma, read a book about stripping or seen a stripping documentary?
    3. What was your best time in the 1000 yard freestyle?

The only reason I have not writen more about what my project is about is because I have not gotten any resposes that can help me with my interviews. My assignment calls for eight in-depth in-person interviews. Most of you are not from the Tacoma area. My paper is neither positve or negative. It will be about whatever the interviewees tell me about in regards to being an exotic dancer. I have been to a stip club; I have read literature about stripping; I have done two interviews already. The reason I joined this website was to get help finding participants in the Tacoma area, so here I am...and I only swam the 1000 yard freestyle once, I was primarily a backstroker.

Why don't you interview the dancers from the local clubs? Go in when it's really dead (like right when the club opens in the middle of the week). Honestly, a lot of the girls here will be leary about meeting someone they absolutely do not know. We have quite a few girls from the state you are in, but with the whole bunch of crazies and internet drama, lately, a lot of them are probably leary about meeting with anyone no one knows.

That being said: one other woman came here a long time ago and requested interviews from the dancers. Of course, she posted her questions on the site and then told the dancers who wanted to respond to email her their responses. She also did phone interviews with some of the dancers.

Is a phone interview possible? A lot of dancers dance under "secrecy" and do not want people to know they are dancers...and may be hesitant for that reason, as well. As much as you may try to reassure people that you will keep their confidences, a lot of us have learned that the best kept secret is the one not given.

So, why don't you post all of your questions here (well, your basic interview model). Have the dancers email you with their responses. If you feel that you want to "expand" on the interview more, then ask them if they would be interested in doing a phone interview. That way, you are getting your information and they are getting their privacy/secrecy. Would that work for you? I mean, a phone interview that is taped...the professor is NOT going to know whether it is in person or not...
