    Default Real vs. Fake...

Name, that is. For those of you who chose a stage name, why did you do it? I'm sort of feeling like just a first name is not much of an identifier and therefore it isn't that dangerous just to go ahead and use it...I guess I'm wondering if women choose a stage name for security reasons or some other reason I don't know about.

And, if you use your real name, has it ever caused a problem?

I've always used my real name, for one thing when I started dancing I always saw people I knew at my work so there didn't seem to be any point pretending I wasn't called Jo / Jowanna. Plus I don't really feel comfortable using a fake name when I meet people and speak to them.
I am about to change my name due to doing tours where there may be publicity. If I'm walking down the street and people yell out my name I want to know it's someone I've met not just some idiot who's seen my picture somewhere...

I like having an alias or two purely because it's shady, and I get a huge kick out of being shady.

cute red, very cute. I use a stage name, Carrie or Paige. I hate when girls are named after food items, sorry girls. I just dont like sugar, chocolate, passion, sardine, whatever. I also hate the super fake names, Sparkle, delight, glitter, sprinkle, diamond, baby, and fantasia. Sorry if that is any of your stage names, its a personal thing.
To me it isnt really a saftey thing it is a comfort thing. When I am Carrie or Paige I am not me and things are less pesonal with custys ... they dotn even know my real name. I also dont tell. I make stuff up. Like if im dancing by carrie i say my real is paige and visa versa. lol once again it is a comfort thing.

California is full of psychoes, the un-fun kind. With my real name & license plate, at the very least someone can use my identity. At the worst they become Stalker-Made-E-Z.

I chose Colleen b/c I worked for a very conservative company as my day job, and I wanted that little extra bit of separation in case any roumors got back to the main office. O'Reilly is the last name of Radar O'Reilly, The character on M*A*S*H* who had the same job I had when I was in the army. Somebody didn't believe me that my name was Colleen and challenged me to tell them my last name. O'reilly was the first thing I thought of, and it sounded right with Colleen. It has stuck ever since.

I have used my real name and a stage name depending on the club. My real name is more of a "dancer name"than the name I dance by. Since a girl dances by my real name at most clubs I work, I cant use it. It is a slight protection factor in the case that you may be a familiar face to an old college friend, neighbor, or former workmate in the corporate world .

I am completely different and keep the club and all my personal relationships and friends outside the club. A different name sometimes mentally disassociates you from the business. Only a select few good customers know my real name.

I made the mistake of giving my real name out and a guy did a Google and back ground check finding out where I lived and my personal info. It is easy to attain info if you really want it but why make it easly accessible.

It's funny how almost all acors and actresses change their names from their real name to a made up fake one. They do it because its the buisness to do so I guess. Dancing is also a buisness that girls use different names for the same reason. It's kind of funny though, alot of people who encounter a celeb never really says "Hey Tom Cruise your last movie was so good, whats your REAL name?" But dancers get that all the time. Were acting,it's a buisness!

My only advice is that your stage name should match any name tattooed on you. I mean don't call yourself Hope if you have Diva in three-inch letters on your back.

If you have an XBF named Alex tattooed on your boob, use that for a stage name and save yourself the cost of covering it with a monster butterfly.

If it's Joe, just make it Joey.

I use my real name and it's funny cause almost no one believes me anyway...

If they ask if it's real or fake I just smile coyly and shrug... Then I say of course...

I saw someone post on here oneday about using a fake real name when she danced by her name... I love that suggestion!!

I used a fake name but with knowing so many people I discovered that I might as well use my real name since they all call me by it anyways. It's mainly for security reasons as not all the gentlemen you meet in a SC are real gentlemen. When I go somewhere that I don't think people know me I use my alias.

My stage name is Natalie, people who know me and my real name think I look more like a natalie. So when guys ask is that your real name? I say yes. They don't really argue.

LOL... a bartender at my (former) club is really hot and she has "NYMPHO" tattooed across her lower back. Sometimes she dances and she uses Nympho for her stage name!

I'm about to get my first (probably only) tattoo, a little magnolia flower. My stage name is Dixie so it'll go. I have a fake real name too for the ones who ask.

Sunkissed, I dotn get a lot of "is that your real name" either, being Carrie or Paige, they are believable real names and lots of people just assume it is real. ALso when I tell people my stage name they always say, "what you mean your name isnt deliciuos/sparkel/sugar ..." or whatever stripper name they pick.

I dance by my real name, which is Megan BTW, and funny thing is, I get alot of guys who try and argue with me that Megan isn't my real name. So "Fine", I tell them, "my real name IS Bambi, and that was just too ironic for me!"

I get really irritated when people say, "come on tell me your real name" as if it's some big secret and if I tell them, they will be able to see into my soul, or whatever. I have a real fake name, and a stripper name, which sounds tough and moderately stripper-esque. The first club I worked at, we wern't allowed to have stage names bc the owner thought they were tacky....so I lied and said I went by my middle name (Marie). They've since changed the rule at that club, I heard... it was sort of pointless, anyway, because customers were always like, "What's your real name," and never believed you when you told them that all the girls had to use their real names.

I use a stage name because I hate my real name (Jill). I've danced my Kiki (my first month ever dancing, that changed after a week) Nikki, Taylor, and Alexis. I never got into the "fake stripper names" so I can just lie to guys and say Alexis is my real name.

I use the stage name Ginger, becuase its way more sexy than my real name, Hannah. If anyone asks I tell them the truth, but its just playing the part.

Fake. My real name is 1) distinctive and 2) absolutely no one called me by it except telemarketers. Not even my family.

Fake...I use Scarlett when I'm in Van because that's how people know me, too much of a bother to change it. But I'm REALLY sick of it.

Everyone has fancy stage names here, though- it's kind of requisite. I'm one of relatively few stage dancers that don't have a last name as well...Western Canada names are are like porn star names.

I use my real name when I'm not in Vancouver.
