Default Blondes who decide to go Dark

I'm so sick of having blonde hair... it get so annoying with the upkeep... i am seriously considering dying it a really dark brown... kind of like a nicki hilton type color and look.. Have any of you ever gone from really blonde to a dramatic dark haired look???? oh, and if any of you girls did do it, did it affect your earnings as a dancer?

I tried it once and hated it, and then had to pay a fortune to have the color stripped out and my hair returned to normal. If I ever get the urge to do something unusual with my hair again, I'll buy a wig. I love brunettes and glossy dark hair, but I'm a natural blonde so I might as well just accept it.

I did look good with auburn hair for awhile when I was a teenager, but I quit doing it because my roots and eyebrows are very ashy and it was a pain to keep them all matched. Plus I wouldn't do it now that I'm dancing because the rug wouldn't match the curtains and I hate that. I occasionally get comments like, "Wow, you really are a natural blonde!" when I take my G-string off, and it always ends in more $$$!

I went from blonde to a really pretty dark brown and i loved it, my husband loved it, but moneywise there was a big difference. I still did well but on average but I could tell it hurt me, and ended up going back very quickly. Now it's something I don't mess with, even though I prefer it dark. However, If that is you in your pic, I think dark will look gorgeous on you, you are hot. You can always go back if you don't do to well.

I'm naturally blonde. I went to an auburn when I was dancing and noticed a drop in $$$. So....I went back to the real me. Have you thought about adding some chunky darker lo-lites? Or even darker underneath/blonde on top, like retro Blondie hair? Then you can do funky things when you pull your hair up and see the dark too. Have the best of both worlds. I think the blonde on top/darker underneath looks great.

I think White girls with dark hair look really cute and exotic, especially if they have light colored eyes. Like take Christina Aguilera for example when she had black hair. I thought she looked amazing like that. Black hair really makes your eyes stand out no matter what color they are. I am mixed black/white and I am considering dyeing my hair honey blond, to look kinda like Christina Milian, Ciara, or Beyonce like. I kinda think light hair like that on light skinned black girls add something classyness about them.

after looking at your avatar, let me just say that you are GORGEOUS!! i don't know if i could picture you with darker hair though. I think the platinum blonde color would really stand out in a club. most dancers i see here in NY are brunette and the blondes a;ways stand out... things may be different in Ohio, i dunno.

buffie is right though, you can always go back. would it ever be the same shade if you did go back? i've never died my hair b/c i'm afraid i won't be able to get my natural color back. fortunately, i've got great natural hi and lo lites from the sun over the summer that last all year

With your face, I'd keep the blonde hair, it's definitely striking.

If its something you want to do, by all means try it...I agree with you on the tan thing...get it a nice chocolate brown colour and see if it works or not. If not, it's just hair you can dye it blonde again.

i used to dye my hair black (that's me in my avatar). i loved it, but it fried my hair terribly to the point that i had to cut it all off, and it was dreadful to keep the roots covered. there was just too big of a contrast. i had to redo every 2 weeks or so.

I'm mixed myself (Alicia Keys at my lightest, Halle Berry at my darkest) and right now my hair is a rich mahogany, from blond. The blond looked great, but it's fall (even though I am in Los Angeles). I always go darker in fall since I lose my tan (and I'm orginally from the East Coast). I do auburn as well. I make money regardless, but people REALLY treat me like a bimbo when I'm blonde. Between the hair and the 36DD's, forget it. Can't wait for my reduction next year! I have brown eyes, but I wear green contacts when my hair is dark (doesnt' work with the blonde for some reason). I look like a boricua!

It sucks when you REALLY look great with your hair one way, but work requires something else. It's a good thing I like my hair long. Short hair doesn't tend to cut it dancing.

I play around a lot - Really blond then I add lowlights... work my way to dark then back up again with highlights...

Just went super blond a month ago from brown and am now going back...adding lowlights

It may be a shock to go dark but you could add lowlights and see how you like it or just darken the under part... so it wont be so drastic

Oh, did you hear that they did studies revealing that blondes are perceived as more "fun" than "smart", and brunettes are perceived as more "smart" than "fun", by people who aren't even conscious of that bias?

My hair's black right now and I plan to keep it that way, because I have very pale skin for a stripper and because I deal much, much better socially with people who WANT to deal with a smart girl, so I figure it'll be a lot better for the hustle if I keep my persona within the range of what I can comfortably emulate.

    Just thought I'd share.

When I feel experimental I go to Wig Stores and try on different styles/colors. This way I can see what I would look like before I decide to change or not.

I have naturally dark brown/black hair and I am SO tempted to try blonde, but my husband won't let me. He is not a fan of blonde.

amen to that. I wish I had raven hair.

I think that dark hair's a tough look to carry off for most women. It really accentuates your skin tone and complexion.... it's like lining your eyes in thick black liner- you'd better have some nice eyes before you do it, or you're just really accentuating any flaws there, you know? I can't wear really dark hair cause it makes me look a lot older, a lot paler and a lot uglier.

I've done it, going from medium blond to light ash brown. It looked natural and good on me, but... As you can see, I like the blond. I worked a lot where guys would hit on me, and there was a noticeable difference in the amount of attention I got as a brunette. Blond really picks up the light, especially in the club.
I do think it'd look great on you, however- esp. if you're tan year -ound, and with light eyes. All in all, I'd say go for it, just be prepared if you're not as noticable from across the room. Up close, though, your looks will definitely get you noticed.

Just dye it! You can always dye it back, you are young, and haircolor is something that you can play with. I am a natrual brunette, an I recently went blond on top to the gradual dark underneath. I love it, all the girls at my club have dark hair, so it is nice to be different, and stick out. I am sure I'll get sick of it, and dye my hair brown again. I think you'd look hot w/ dark hair you are a gorgeous girl so it doesn't matter what color hair you have. LOts of my friends have gone dark b/c it is in style now, do it!!

I was born blonde, but I've been dying my hair dark brown since high school. I have naturally dark eyebrows and eyelashes with light eyes, so dark hair actually looks more convincing than my natural color ever did. Guys love it. It makes me stand out in a sea of bleach-heads.

I had my hair dyed extremely bleach blonde last summer, and a week later I dyed it dark (By the way, doing that doesnt hurt your hair, if you bleached it one week, then bleached it the next it would make your hair VERY brittle and basically DONT DO IT, but bleaching it one week, then DYEING it the next actually helps. Dark color deposits, not strips) I LOVE my hair. Ive left it dark since then. I got a little sick of it for awhile and put some highlights in for the summer, but ended up dyeing it almost black, as close to black without it being black. I LOVE IT. I almost want to go full black, but i dont think I will. I know plenty of girls who make a killing for being the dark mysterious girls a the club. I love it because I like to be mysterious in my everyday life. Plus it is SO much easier and CHEAPER to keep up with!

Judging from your avatar, your hair color looks nice on you. I would do a light brown, that would be a nice change but I would stay away from the dark brown.

That being said, I once dyed my (not naturally) blonde hair a dark brown with red and blonde highlights, just for a month,as a change. I didn't loose money, but I changed my whole look. I usually wear girly little two piece outfits with flippy skirts, just really cute looking stuff...when I dyed my hair, I bought a couple red and black outfits and some black knee boots so that I would have the whole bad girl package. I think I would have looked dumb had I dyed my hair dark and kept my outfits the same.

If you change your hair, you might have to change your clothes.

I have been thinking of going darker..just thinking though. I know me. I like the look for about a day and a half but then I panic. I like dark hair it makes my eyes pop out really blue. But I always end up back blonde. I have never danced with dark hair so I don't know about the earnings part.
